afterblast - rectal desaster 3,00 €
3 man goregrind from germany.
(diy)
analena – carbon based 3,00 €
In the case of ANALENA, one man's hardcore is another man's noise is another man's punk. Diverse but steady, from bittersweet melodies and blistering hooks to pummeling and aggressive rhythms, ANALENA covers all the bases. Carbon Based is their's second album, recorded and produced at Kozmo studio, Zagreb, by the members of the band themselves, with the noteworthy assistance provided by members of Lunar, another remarkable and friendly band from Zagreb. Carbon Based is a statement by a smart and mature band, an honest expression of determination and passion in full force. ANALENA follows its own instinct by merging charming melodies with intricate and shimmering rhythmic relentlessness. Stunning and flawless instrumentation combined with witty and poetic slogan-free lyrics takes care of the rest. See you in the pit or see you with your headphones on. You are invited. Until then, as the band itself proclaims in the moving Work In Progress: “Stay alert!”.

excrement specimen – Päiviönkatu 2€
The third Shitsuck release, and the first one to have full color covers.
This release was recorded in the toilet of the apartment where I used to live in Iisalmi just the weekend before I moved away from there. I played all the instruments which were my good old guitar, my good old bass guitar and the toiletseat (as drums). Everything recorded through a distortion pedal plus finally mixed through a distortion pedal too...
The cover art is such a beauty, the infamous mystery meatpile was found from the front of the door of that same apartment when I came home one, certainly fatal for someone, evening..

Regres - Punk Rock Pozytyw 3€
In the late 90's Hardcore scene in Poland have been completely dominated by Tough Guy and Metal Mosh sounding bands. There was almost anything else left until bands like Second Age put back some old school hardcore spirit and good message to the scene. Some months later some other bands started like Regres or Only Way Out with the similar vision on Hardcore. After hard working years Regres became one of the most important bands in Poland and they have enough guts to overcome any scene divisions and makes their music attractive for different crowds of the Hardcore/Punk circles. They were always claiming that straight edge and hardcore shouldn't be separate from other Punk and HC fractions. Their music is fast positive old school sounding hardcore with some Polish 80's and early 90's HC sounding influences, and it's make them original sounding band in the ocean of worldwide old school HC bands. Message is equally important taking some personal, scene related and social issues.

Severed Head of State features an all star cast with Todd Burdette from His Hero Is Gone on guitar, Jack Conrow of Mind Control Records on vocals, Kelly from Detestation on bass, and Chris Pfeffer from Meadowlark on drums. The music is an onslaught of power that can be described as the inbred bastard of Detestation and His Hero Is Gone with a distorted beast on vocal duties.

whalers / airplane food sucks - split 3€
another release from this ghostlabel. like on the ein bunter melodienstrauss / mona lisa tripple penetraition squad split there ís noisecore on this tape. airplane food sucks start the tape with a noisecore mayhem like ein bunter melodienstrauss but sicker. total high vocals, crazy drummings, low-fi recording and all improvised. we counted their songs. there are 40 songs in 10 minutes. whalers come along with a 10 minutes song made of doom and 90's screamo.
(fuck hole productions)
yakuza horror - split 3€
In the true spirit of European chaos Spanish Yakuza Horror rages on with loud and noisy hardcore throughout the eight tracks on this pro-tape. Dual vocals, one screamer and one growler, sawing guitars, a crunching bass, and d-beat drumming - all done with a brutal rawness. I appreciate this in it's roughness and straight forward approach with no messing around, but at the same time I can find it a bit to regular to really get into. It all depends on what mood I'm in really. If I want uncompromising traditional south European d-beat inferno this is awesome, but if I'm looking for originality and/or more memorable riffs together with the power this isn't really the place to look. But, it's a good tape and if you find it you should pick it up.

zegota - reclaim 3€
Reclaim! is Zegota's first true album, written and conceived as such, and recorded over several days in Malmo, Sweden by David Sandstrom from the Refused. On it, they live up to every bit of promise shown in their previous recordings and performances, delivering a well-crafted eight-song, forty-minute adventure constructed with the rawest of vocals, wall-like guitars, delicate piano and organ sections, drum beats like the heartbeat of an escaped hostage and an unrestrained bass sound to hold it all together. One of the most soulful, original and moving albums ever recorded.

american tourists – 80s Gone Mainstream 4,00 €
First off, what a great name for a band from Germany. I love it. Six songs sung in English and German, ranging from more melodic JAWBREAKER, CRINGER style to a little more gruff, raspy-vocaled, driving emo hardcore (emphasis on the hardcore). ICONOCLAST, or perhaps MOHINDER come to mind. Good stuff.

The Black Merinos play bombastic, doomsday hardcore. If you can appreciate the thick rumble of bands like His Hero is Gone, later day Neurosis, or anything of that ilk, then I guarantee you'll be banging your head and pounding your fist to this. The Black Merinos stand where hardcore and metal meet at an acceptable place- more Tony Iommi than Randy Rhodes, less wanking and more brutality.(hyperrealist)

catena collapse / sinaloa - split 4,00 €
This split 7" features a song out of SINALOA?s "footprints on floorboards" recording session, which wasn`t on the
album, but is as great as all other songs. Full of emotions, anger, energy and amazing melodies. Somehow they remind us of bands like RITES OF SPRING, VAN PELT or BOB TILTON, but sound really unique and also have a "modern" note. On the other site you get an unreleased CATENA COLLAPSE song. We only need one word to explain their sound: EMO, but in the words best meaning.
(narshadaw)
chorea / asmodinas leichenhaus – split 4,00 €
This record is the product of a friendship by two bands, who like the same kind of music - crust, grind with screamed vocals. I think you know both bands from their 7“es, but this split is much better in sound and the songs have way more rawness than the older stuff. It comes with a handmade cover and 2 booklets.

day of the dead – s/t 4,00 €
Here's some melodic old school hardcore from Portugal where i can hear some classic stuff like Gorilla Biscuits and Bold (circa "Looking Back") in there every now and then, though they do have a slight metallic influence, but it's very subtle, and the songs don't come off as metallic, rather slightly more intricate old school styled hardcore with a ton of energy.

forensics – assholes will want your vinyl 4,00 €
Forensics is the newest DC-Area all-star band featuring an unlikely cast of former members from such bands as Burning Airlines, Corn on Macabre, pg.99, Trial By Fire, Waifle, and Admiral among others. The results are epic. Wookie Yancey and Mike Harbin are a percussive force as the Forensics rhythm section, holding down every note with intense passion.
The dynamic and complex guitar work of George Crum and Brent Eyestone takes listeners from somber, lulling melodies into searing moments of intended devastation laced with a southern heavy rock feel. Eyestone's lyrics of hope and resistance explode atop the dense and delicate chemistry that is Forensics.

this is new brutalism's first release in the seven inch format, and hit self destruct's first in any. new brutalism, which consist of former members of the red scare and autonomy vs. shame, play angular and unrelenting chicago style rock comparable to shellac. their track on this record was actually recorded by steve albini. on the flip side is the debut from california's hit self destruct. their callous style of rock bears resemblance to rye coalition, transistor transistor, and the hidden chord, but with a more bitter and unglued approach.

japanische kampfhörspiele / das krill – split 4,00 €
Let's talk about the first band that makes up this split, Japanische Kampfhörspiele, name that in english actually means "japanese battle radio plays". This band was actually started by Christof Kather, a long-time drug addict suffering from severe psyschotic tendencies, this is the guy that actually forged JaKa's sound: grindpunk. That's how the band likes to define their pretty unique and original sound. The band is featured on this split with 4 songs, songs whose sound is based on metallic riff with, psychotic rhythm and guttural vocals alternated with some more electronic ones, everything backgrounded by a lot of samples and electronic parts. Seems like a good mix because in songs like "Endorsed By Mainstream" and "Kommt Nicht Wieder Vor" things sound pretty interesting and intricated. Das Krill, the second band making up this 7" Split is Das Krill, the krill, the name of the food that whales eat. If we have to compare the two bands it's clear that Das Krill is way more chaotic but at the same time I must admit that JaKa's songs are much more interesting and original. Blast beats, maniacal riffs and incomprehensible vocals played at a skull-crushing speed. For people that like noise music this might undoubtely be an ideal band. Althought the quality of the band's music isn't amazing, there's no doubt that the whole release has been done in an amazing way and it's just perfect in my opinion. A nice artwork with a nice concept makes this a really great release. Congratulations first of all to the record label and finally to the bands that, although pretty chaotic and crazy, have put together one good split.
(silentstagnation)

kobayashi – s/t 4,00 €
This is the highly anticipated 7inch release from KOBAYASHI, an outstandingly original hardcore punk band from Bremen, Germany. Musically they play an incredibly melodic, but totally powerful style of hardcore punk, constructed with such a variety of influences that they are totally impossible to compare with any other band. The lyrics are sincerely written and filled with personal reflections on the punk movement, pop culture, politics, and society in general, as viewed from the darkend pesimism gain by years of recognizings lies and hypocrisy

The lyrics are more sophisticated than most out there, and manage to retain a lyrical quality that elevates all their tracks to something very personal and passionate. Music that comes from the heart. The split side features three blasts from Suicide Party who play fast hardcore in a more traditional (but intensive) way.

the better thoughts to come / tielnich – split 4,00 €
This is a very interesting split. the better thoughts to come is a band that has somehow managed to forge a sound composed of influences as diverse as experimental noise, Cali powerviolence, and DEP-styled metal. Both tracks are complicated and require some actual investment from the listener. The combination of the extreme and the sublime has to be experienced to be appreciated. tielnich H do much the same thing as the better thoughts to come, but are more noise tinged. I've never been a fan of a band wasting time on a mere 7" with samples, but for tielnich the samples are an integral part of their sound. I would be willing to bet that at least some of the members of tielnich would count GASP amongst their favorite bands.

Staying true to the absurdly awesome packaging of the Wow, Owls! demo and early Perpetual Motion Machine releases, this ep is housed in a hand-cut, two color cover that folds out into an elephant's head/trunk.

The seven-track affair is laden with jerky rhythms, passionate vocals, and an overall volatility that bands that try to sound this angry have a difficult time pulling off. With a name taken straight from Slavery-era U.S. History, Bleeding Kansas are a heavy band that deals with heavy topics and showcase their fearlessness through intriguing pieces of disjointed music. converge / hellchild - "Deeper The Wounds" split 10,00 €
The US's metal/hardcore pioneers Converge and Japan's heaviest sludge/kill team Hellchild bring us this split cd titled "Deeper The Wounds". Converge start it off with "Thaw", a brand new song which is rich with technical precision, bits of melody, and dense doses of hyperactive percussion. Definitely the next evolutionary step for this amazing band. They also play an impressive version of Depeche Mode's "clean", followed by three live tracks that sound unlike many live hardcore/punk recordings. Crystal clear sound quality on these songs which originally appeared on releases on Equal Vision, Relapse, and Hydra Head. A little something to tide you over until the new full length on EVR is released. Hellchild then rage into a rabid frenzy with four songs produced by the legendary Billy Anderson (Mr. Bungle, Neurosis, Kiss it Goodbye, Brutal Truth). This material showcases both their intense energy and their blinding heaviness. Includes their version of "Insurrection of the Living Damned" originally by Bulldozer. comes with a poster.

With a proven track record which features multiple U.S. and European tours, various releases on labels such as Level Plane, Boxcar, and Mountain Collective, and with their clever ingenuity and inventiveness in song-writing, Forstella Ford has found a home with Scene Police for their newest full length. Their songs andoverall structures could be compared to mathematical equations, which feature discordant, frantic, and at times metallic guitars, controlled off-time, dynamic rhtyhms, and wildly yelled, desparate vocals which sound like an individual on the verge of a neurological collapse. Much akin to the infamous D.C. sounds of Circus Lupus, Ignition, and Hoover, Forstella Ford offer a quirky and at times eerie sound that expands into a more aggressive, metallic nature than those before them.

Western Massachussettes’ WOLVES team up with New Hampshire’s TRANSISTOR TRANSISTOR to bring you eight tracks of chaos and punk rock bliss. WOLVES makes their debut on Level-Plane with these 4 songs of technical and driving hardcore that is calculated while remaining emotive and warm and unpredictable. The band features members of hardcore legends ORCHID and pushes an original modern sound with all the sincerity of their previous releases on COALITION RECORDS. TRANSISTOR TRANSISTOR are no strangers to the Level-Plane camp, having already released a 12” and a split 12” with Virginia’s LIGHT THE FUSE AND RUN. The band recently returned from a marathon touring schedule which took them all over the continental US, Canada and soon Europe, where their brand of snotty and sassy punk rock has won the hearts of hardcore enthusiasts young and old. Fans of early BLOOD BROTHERS should take note.

wheeljack – s/t 10,00 €
Wheeljack did not exist at the time of this release. Most of this record was recorded at the end of the summer of '97, around the same time as their last show. When Wheeljack formed in November of '94, the whole San Diego thing had not caught up with them yet. Despite the fact that they had yet to hear Swing Kids or Antioch Arrow or any shit like that, they played in a similar fashion. A year later they added a keyboard player. Again this was before the the VSS, or even Gems Of Masochism. They did the nice clothes thing too. Anyway, to make a long story short, the point is that there are lots of good bands who were doing the whole "tightpants hardcore" thing before it became a standard, a lot of them weren't anywhere near San Diego and weren't on labels that begin with the letter G. Seeing as how this record came out a year and a half too late, it is not meant to be some sort of hip new release. Think of it more as a document of a band that did not get all of the attention they deserved, mainly due to the fact that they were from Atlanta, Georgia, instead of the west coast or something like that.(stickfigure)

Philadelphia, PA's A LIFE ONCE LOST have grown into one of the major forces to reckon with in the current metal and hardcore scenes, but before working with Deathwish and their signing to Ferret, there was the fierce, groundbreaking EP making waves. Entitled The Fourth Plague: Flies, this CDep contains five tracks that showcases a phenomenal era of this true beast of a band. With more Swedish melodic metal influence than their current style, The Fourth Plague: Flies is a pioneering mix of furious metal coupled with monstrous hardcore elements, including some of the fiercest breakdowns imaginable. Here's another solid EP from this Georgia quartet that holds true to their amalgamation of all sorts of influences from sludgy grooves and dingy southern tinged rhythms with plenty of jarring shifts and unusual time signatures to a few new twists and turns with some mangled and dark 70's rock inspired guitar work and plenty of dynamic changeups. When the unexpectedly melodic clean passage drops towards the tail end of opener "Red Sky" it becomes really evident how interwoven a lot of this material is in terms of excellently delivered drum fills meshing against individualized dual guitar lines as fluid bass runs float back and forth in between. Of course, the clarity of the recording also helps bring a lot of these subtle details to the surface since everything is so crisp and spacious in the mix. I think I read that they recorded this entire 20-minute span (all three tracks run together) live in the studio, and it sounds extremely impressive considering. The drums just sound fucking perfect, and the guitars are nice and up front with a really surprising level of clarity to their overall texture. The basslines then fill things in nicely and generally play a pretty significant role, and the hoarsely shouted vocals are powerful without overpowering any of the instrumentation. "Son of Sun" is a rather sparse segment overall, largely driven by slow to midpaced instrumental passages, though once things truly kick in towards the final couple of minutes there are actually a few Swedish sounding riffs popping up that come as a surprise. "Vision" then winds around with tons of lightly distorted riffs that again touch on some of that odd 70's rock sounding stuff, but it's all so twisted up that it's not as straightforward as it might seem, so it makes sense in the grand scheme of things, and actually provides some pretty intense melodies once the distortion kicks in and things get a little grimier in terms of the rhythm playing. Visually things look quite similar to the first EP in terms of overall aesthetic with some awesome illustrations and excellent text arrangements that, while hard to read, are worth every ounce of illegibility for their visual presence alone. And most of the lyrical content seems to rely largely on rather open or abstract expressions as it is: "Soul swallowed without heat absolved I am spirit never born but dreamed..." Another nice chunk of work here. I think their debut EP was slightly stronger since some of the drawn out instrumental runs this time around can start to lose my interest here and there, but thankfully most of their shifts are well timed, so the end result holds up well, and I'm sure the best is yet to come from Baroness.

blinspot a.d. – knowledge vs. fear 10,00 €
Finally the first album by this southern Germany band, after an existence of over eight years and a lot of DIY records they made it! They already released several demo-tapes, CD-R's, split 7"s and the 7" "Pain Is Not The Cleanser" which was the last record and put out 2001! But times changed, members and the sound of Blindspot A.D. too, they definitely developed their sound to something unique in these days because they add several hardcore and metal elements to form a blistering mayhem. Their sound ranges from old school sounding passages to death metal parts, grindcore madness and rare screamo sounds, they combine a lot different styles to one all overrunning thick sound! And that's what I love about them, because beside all the new metal influences they never forget to play hardcore and even punk stuff! Beside all those moshing and heavy stuff they also add atmospherically tunes within the ninth song "In My Heart" that could probably be made by Cave In and also could create mood they do! But mostly they thrash through their songs with neverending aggression and the singer is screaming at the top of his lungs.

This is fast & heavy music at it's finest, combining circle-pit-inducing thrashy hardcore with plenty of punk attitude to generate a compelling form of underground music that's aimed at erasing those unnecessary lines between a live band and the crowd. With epic melodic elements and an unmistakable grind influence, it's not hard to see why this youth-filled band has got people pogoing at every show, trying to make punk rock a good time without compromising beliefs. crush, kill, destroy – much action walking distance 5,00 €
Not many bands can state their mission in their name alone, but Chicago's Crush Kill Destroy are up for the challenge. Their moniker isn't an expression of hardcore violence, but rather a theory put into action. Crush Kill Destroy play aggressive, confident, angular rock music that can crush, kill, and destroy any preconceived notions about what rock music's structure may be or how it should be attacked. Dual guitars strangle one another in an almost telepathic fury, the rhythm section proves itself as inventive as it is precise, and the vocals fluctuate from calm assurance to manic energy within a span of seconds.
