BORN AGAINST/ UNIVERSAL ORDER OF ARMAGEDDON split 7" (gravity a classic split 7inch and a must have to complete your gravity collection) 4.50

BY THE GRACE OF GOD for the love of indie rock 7" (victory - By the Grace of God will forever be my favorite Victory Records band. Unlike like the lionshare of the label's denizens, the Grace specialized in a loud, stomping hardcore, but with songs that absolutely take flight with melodic, passionate vocals and occasional majestic guitar-leads that weave comfortably amongst the thrak of the rhythm section. For these reasons, I do not believe the band was ever totally at home with Victory Records, and since they're clearly too intelligent for the Fat Wreck crowd, the band seemed to flounder about aimlessly in the straight-edge hardcore scene till they split sometime a few years ago under a shroud punch-ups and pseudo-controversy.
) 5.00

LACK greetings from a Non Believer 7" (level plane - This 7" single contains two exclusive songs from the early stages of the writing process for the upcoming album "Be There Pulse" by Denmark´s Lack. It features the band in a gloomy state of mind, performing a pulsating kind of doomsday rock.A fine document capturing Lack halfway between two albums.) 4.0

LOCUST / MELT BANANA split 7" (GSL - A split release of massive proportions, this new 7" pairs 2 of the most volatile and original bands to emerge from hardcore/punk/noise/metal/power violence scenes in the last 10 years. Tokyo's Melt Banana (2 songs) should be familiar to anyone with a taste for the extreme, having released God-knows-how-many albums and singles on the likes of Skin Graft, Slap a Ham, A-Zap, HG Fact and others. San Diego's The Locust (5 songs) are virtually a household name these days, suffice it to say a lot of kids will be chomping at the bit to get their filthy paws on this. Full color artwork by Sam McPheeters (of Born Against and Men's Recovery Project) that will bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye) 5.00

OVER THE TOP keep on trucking 7" (Out the way! This is Over The Top! A furious mix between frantic thrashcore and 80s old school hardcore. Take a pissed off lead shouting and mix it with a great pinch of insane hardcore punk. Don't forget the crew shoutings! There you go, Over The Top is served!
Partly garnished with some metal sounds and double bass destructions. "Keep On Trucking" is their first release on vinyl after several demos and tells about careless kungfu dancers ("Tanz ab!"), the love doing it yourself ("D.I.Y.") and Hanzo the Razor. Alongside you get to love about ten songs of love, hate and trucks.
The single comes with a two sided screenprint cover, a poster and wonderful black vinyl ;) .3.50

HAMMERHEAD farbe / color 10" (hucks plattenkiste their great 10inch on hucks plattenkiste ...) 10.00

MOUNT ERIE pts. 6 & 7 Book + 10 picturedisc (pw elvrum - This music is the sequel to Mount Eerie by the Microphones (2003), but the photos are from all over the world from the last 10 years. They have been hung on the walls of the rooms where all the other Mount Eerie/Microphones music has been born. Also, this is the biggest and best thing weve ever made. Printed and bound at the best printer in North America rather than somewhere in Asia where almost all art books are made, it was printed on 10,000 lbs. of FSC certified 50% recycled, 35% post-consumer Endeavor paper (savings- 20 full grown trees, 60 lbs of water-borne waste, 9000 lbs solid waste, 1000 gallons of water, 1900 lbs of greenhouse gases, 14870 (000) BTUs of energy). Mount Eerie revealed.) 60.00

LP

ALOHA "Light Works" Picture Disc 12" (mi amante - This collection of seven new Aloha songs was conceived to be an end-of-the-calender-year pleasant surprise: a care package or a thank you note to fans and anyone who might be curious. But Aloha has a problem doing anything halfway, and the result is a set of Alohas most gorgeous, ambitious and fully-realized songs. Instead of saying thanks, Aloha is probably saying hello to a bunch of new listeners.) 10.50

BY THE GRACE OF GOD perspective LP (victory records - In a time when punk and hardcore bands seem to have forgotten about what really matters, the Louisville, KY band By The Grace Of God have chosen to do things differently. They remind people, with their tested and approved sound, that empowerment is the key to survival.
Consisting of punk veterans Rob Pennington (vocals) from Endpoint, Duncan Barlow (guitar) from Endpoint and Guilt, Jonathan Mobley from Falling Forward and Elliott, Jay Palumbo from Empathy and Elliott and Thommy Browne from Enkindel they have recently turned the tides on this "side project", developing it into a full-time band. With tours planned in Europe and the U.S., B.T.G.O.G. are bringing their message of positive hardcore to as many people as possible. Musically, the band crosses all lines between melodic and downright aggressive punk/hardcore. Their first EP., For the Love of Indie Rock (VR37) was incredibly well-received. As RIP Magazine put it, "If you're into the hard stuff, yet like a little melody in the mix, check them out." With songs that ranged from political and emotional to the importance of fun in the punk scene, they conveyed an overwhelming positivity and a push for unity that the punk/hardcore scene hasn't been addressing for a long time.
Their latest release, Perspective, is just that. Their perspective on our world and our scene today. Ready for any hi fi stereo equipment, Perspective is a fast, uplifting record with songs that directly address issues the band deems important. By The Grace Of God have taken average hardcore songs and transformed them into vehicles of political motivation, self empowerment and emotional release. Recorded at Trax East Studios in New Jersey (Snapcase, Deadguy), this record completely showcases the potential and power of the band.) 12.00

THE CREEPING NOBODIES "Augurs & Auspices" LP (deleted art The Creeping Nobodies are one of the longest running bands in Toronto´s constantly evolving music community. Their current line-up encompasses a broad spectrum of the Toronto scene, with ex-members of the Sick Lipstick, Currently in These United States, Parts Unknown, Martyrs, as well as sharing a member with Memories Forever, the art-fantasy team from Boston. Inspired by such bands as The Ex, Pere Ubu, and The Fall, The Creeping Nobodies seek to produce challenging music and are never afraid to explore new territory or re-invent themselves. This recording compiles two previously released E.P.s, and also includes newly recorded material.) 13.00

CURRENT 93 Of Ruine or Some Blazing Starre LP (duarto jana - this album stands as one of the band's more accessible works, taking a predominantly acoustic, pastoral slant on their unique brand of apocalyptic folk. The line-up on the record revolves around main players David Tibet, Michael Cashmore and Steven Stapleton, with some additional vocal work from Phoebe Cheshire, who fronts such merry ditties as 'Into The Menstrual Night I Go' and 'The Darkly Splendid World', both of which are deeply beautiful in musical terms but call upon dark, visceral lyrics. It's Tibet's words that make Current 93 such a potent entity though: regardless of how you feel about his highly idiosyncratic vocal style, you'd have to admit that there's some substance and poetry beneath the surface.) 18.50

DANIEL STRIPED TIGER condition LP (alone records - Melding the unharnessed energy of screamo and the frenetic rhythmic energy of Dischord-esque post-punk, Daniel Striped Tiger deliver their first full-length release for New York State's Alone Records. "Condition" is the culmination of early nineties hip-rolling DC base lines and dynamics, with a smothering of aluminum shearing guitar tones and trumpet and percussion outbursts that have been all but abandoned in this day of regurgitated garage and electro-dance-rock. Daniel Striped Tiger may have taken their cues from the likes of Fugazi and Nation Of Ulysses, but have added an urgency and attitude that is more "from out of the basement" than from the "here todayIgone tomorrow" assembly line.) 11.50

DEAD HEARTS bitter verse LP (ferret - Dead Hearts may be the closest in sound to the beginning roots of punk/hardcore that Ferret has ever released. After sharing the stage with bands like 7 Seconds, Agnostic Front and Slapshot, the band has definitely lived out their high school hardcore fantasy. Before you label Dead Hearts an old school revival project, you should know that the group is a modern hardcore band. A band that is raw, discordant and punk at heart but not afraid to reference metal and rock in their sound. The 14 songs on "Bitter Verses" hit like a sledgehammer to your chest - passionate and real hardcore delivered with an unmatched conviction. Now available on vinyl!) 12.50

ENDEAVOR constructive semantics Lp ( trustkill records - Five years in the making, New Jersey's Endeavor release their semi-debut full length album. 14 new songs that perfect their fast and furious hardcore style of which few can pull off. Socio-Political lyrics as well as sincere personal ones are screamed at 110% from start to finish. There is no time to take a breath. Call it "noisecore" or what have you, but there is no categorization for the pure unadulterated power that permeates each song. White and hand-numbered red vinyl for mailorder only. "The songs are hard driving with lots of tempo variety. They can push the petal to the metal and then drop back for some boogie-mosh action. Hardcore pure and simple. Solid and groovy." - Kent Mclard, HeartattaCk (#17)) 12.00

THE FLYING LUTTENBACHERS trauma 2xLP (double couloured vinyl, limited to 500 copies, handmade and handnumbered covers. extreme free jazz / industrial / noise) 29.00

JENNIFER GENTLE sacramento session/ 5 of 3 LP (a silent place - This is a very limited LP released by A Silent Place records; there were only 500 copies pressed, and we have much less than that. It is a live recording of a piece that they all composed and played on Davis Californias KDVS radio station. It is pressed on pinkish red vinyl and has a super slick gatefold sleeve along with some really freaky sounds.) 15.00

MAGIK MARKERS songs for sada jane LP (textile records - Magik Markers started in Budapest Hungary in 1999. Elisa Ambrogio told Peter Nolan that she was a Smith college student who would one day write the great American novel. Pete was sold, so he uprooted from Michigan and began making noise music in the basement of Eliisa's grandparents home in Hartford CT... One day Elisa's best friend Leah joined in... and soon Elisa did too... After a short time they became famous in their region... so they took the show on the road... playing from the east coast to the west
over the years they have gained the love of the good people.. and the hatred of the stupid... They have been honored to play many shows with Sonic Youth, SUNN0))), LIGHTNING BOLT, COMETS ON FIRE, FOUR TET, SIX ORGANS OF ADMITTANCE, SUNBURNED HAND OF THE MAN... and DINOSAUR JR during all their last US tour
they are honored once again to play All Tommorrow's Parties in England this year invited by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs! "We've never composed anything," says Nolan of the band's approach. "We've gone down various tributaries, sometimes tiny. Sometimes I feel like an octopus whose arms can touch the back of the room." The Magik Markers came across as one of the best and most dangerous rock bands working right now. More than anything else, their sound was punk as fuck, not a lame parody of a once valid genre, but a full on kick to the throat of rock and noise in general - daring the formalists to open things up a bit and the noiseniks to make the crowd want to move it. The new rock-as-noise-clatter paradigm has been set. Deal with this band head on. Learn to love or hate it. Its a dividing line for the new noise scene!) 16.00

MELT BANANA cell scape LP (a zap - A band who have justifiably been championed across the world, Tokyo's Melt-Banana have been responsible for some of the most complex punk rock ever made that far outshines ninety-nine percent of most other bands out there. The band once described their live show as "Shooting machine gun and laser beam, chaos in order." And that pretty much sums them up. Now available again on vinyl.) 11.50

MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS variations on swing LP (denovali records - Meet Me in St. Louis are the latest addition to the growing and highly dominant U.K. post-hardcore scene. Million Dead, The Murder of Rosa Luxemburg, and bands like them have been creating a lot of attention with their fast paced seemingly random blend of pop-punk, hardcore and math rock. Meet Me in St. Louis is the most successful band to attempt this sound so far in terms of sheer originality. Combining Million Deads pop sensibility with The Murder of Rosa Luxemburgs technical backing, Meet Me in St. Louis sound is basically pop songs broken down into ten second burst of energy that are strung together into three minute explosions. Where the band merely flirted with their musics pop backing on their debut EP, Variations on Swing their latest releases sees them branching out into realms of electronica and more concise post-hardcore to create a much more rewarding, eclectic and dynamic sound.) 10.00

MV & EE with The Golden Road "Gettin' Gone" DLP (ecstatic peace back in stock. - Still riding high on the glorious steed that was Green Blues (heads are still processing its smoked grooves and wild-at-heart paeans to love and kosmiche carnality), Matt Valentine and Erika Elder entered a Western Mass studio armed with enough fresh material to choke a whole team of horses. You may ask, "how can this be?" Well, since recording their Ecstatic Peace debut the duo has toured extensively, all the while writing tunes, scavenging esoteric guitar equipment & revamping their backing band to suit the environment of Gettin' Gone . A new sound has organically evolved that will most certainly astonish listeners new & old, but still find a special place on the formidable shelf of their back catalog. So rejoice in this disc, which boasts some of MV & EE's most finely-crafted songs to date and along with The Golden Road present a feast of tones & riffs that will stick to your ribs for a long time. Like its predecessor, Gettin' Gone is a family affair of like-minded freak and friendly hair waves. Most fascinating is the Ecstatic Peace soundboard premier of Zuma, one of the coolest dog minds north of New York City. Also the one part golden addition of Doc Dunn and the harmonium magic of Luisa, she of Mascis child. Oh and J his self blams some mountain heavy drumming on a few of these tracks. Matt and Erika's devotional dharma is open to all true vibes of rock n' roll and folk n' roots ramble both tender and tuff.) 18.50

PINBACK blue screen life DLP (ace fu - Pinback's second full-length, originally released in October 2001, on vinyl for the first time! The delicate and heavenly harmonies for which they are lauded still swath this record with a subtle brilliance. However, with this release, these ex Three Mile Pilot and Heavy Vegetable members demonstrate a more versatile and ambitious approach to songwriting, as their guitar playing is more angular and aggressive. Clear vinyl limited to 2000 copies.) 19.00

SAVIOURS crucifire LP (evel plane - Inspired by their common love of the dark and dirty sounds of late 70s and early 80s new wave of British heavy metal, the Saviours formed in Oakland, California, over the summer of 2004. Former Yaphet Kotto members Austin Barber (vocals, guitar), Scott Batiste (drums), and Mag Delana (guitar, also formerly of Bread and Circuits), joined together with bassist Cyrus Comiskey (Drunk Horse) and 3rd (!) guitarist Tyler Morris, intent on saving heavy music from its current state of lackluster purgatory. With the demonic vibe of classics like Bathory, Venom and even Black Sabbath in mind, Barber began to scrawl blasphemous diatribes that'd make even the most thick skinned Christian rockers shiver in their shoes. Meanwhile, guitars were down-tuned, distortion was cranked up, and a powerful, sub-harmonic, rhythm section lay down unearthly grooves.) 12.00

SHAI HULUD That Within Blood Ill-Tempered LP (revelation Shai Hulud's highly anticipated "That Within Blood Ill-Tempered" is a testament of heart, passion, and sincerity. As the hardcore and metal scenes struggle to breathe in the smog of the overwhelming degree of trend and superficiality of late, Shai Hulud present a refreshingly true and pretense-less album. It clearly illustrates the allure, the splendor, and the effectiveness metal influenced hardcore can offer. Musically, Shai Hulud has maintained the sound they initially re-invented - an angered and melodic, multi-layered blend of beauty and aggression - and continued to expand its boundaries within "That Within Blood Ill-Tempered". Shai Hulud is as always uncompromising, musically, lyrically, and ideally- not having succumbed to current trends. Now available again on vinyl.) 11.50

TEXAS IS THE REASON Do You Know Who You Are? LP (revelation - The debut full length from this New York outfit. It features members from Shelter, Resurrection, 108, Fountainhead and Copper. This is the follow up album from their S/T 7" which peaked in the top 20 in CMJ. The title is inspired from the last words John Lennon ever heard......"Do You Know Who You Are?" "It made no sense for us to be on any other label but Revelation. We want to be a part of history" says guitarist, Norm Arenas. Norm is joined by Garrett Klahn, Scott Winegard and Chris Daly. This release brings diversity from a hardcore backround. There are 9 tracks of energetic flavor produced by Jawboxs' J. Robbins. You say emo-core, we say whatever. Don't be left behind. Now available again on vinyl.) 11.50

THANKSGIVING Welcome Nowhere DLP/CD (pw elvrum - A fancy reissued version of our ELV000, this time with a whole extra record of lost songs from the sessions. This is one of 3 records that was recorded in a hexagonal hut on top of a high remote hill above a lake with eagles and military jets, looking out over islands. The beginning of our moving studio called Nowhere. (The other was Whysp by Whysp). Welcome Nowhere is a CLASSIC ALBUM, straight up. This new version is totally remastered and sounds 1,000,000 times better. Glossy full color gatefold jacket, tie-dyed colored vinyl, CD, excellent songs.) 18.50

THE PINE - don´t need regret LP (alone records - Continuing their dedication to vinyl-only releases, Bakersfield, California's THE PINE unleashes their latest offering of gut-wrenching emotional hardcore on seminal New York state indie mainstay, Alone Records.) 11.50

THE PINE - days slipping by LP (alone records - Melodic, yet very depressing emotional post-punk that's reminiscent of Evergreen or The Hated.) 11.50

US CHRISTMAS same 12 (neurot - Formed in the summer of 2002 in the wilds of North Carolina, U.S. Christmas has steadily evolved into a full-blown psychedelic space rock assault. The band makes music that cannot be ignored. U.S. Christmas hurts people-- physically and mentally. The music stirs intense feelings of pain, frustration, loss, fear--and occasionally, euphoria. U.S. Christmas was one of the first unsigned bands to send a CD to Combat Music Radio, the internet music show hosted by Neurosis's Scott Kelly. It wasn't long before the band heard from Kelly, who frequently played their songs on KMBT. This friendship lead to a release agreement with Neurot Recordings. This four-song vinyl EP precedes the band's full length Eat The Low Dogs, currently set for a March 2008 release. "Those who appreciate the heavier, tripped out side of music should give these guys a shot. They bring something unique to the table." --Stonerrock.com) 11.00

WHITEHOUSE presents birthdeath experience LP (very friendly - Bennett & Sotos name themselves after an anti-porn crusader, descend into a basement and clunk around in some feedback in complete retardo fashion, yelling at each other until they break up laughing. Rougher than later Whitehouse records, this 1st one really shows them at their clumsiest & most charming. Tracklisting: On Top, Mindphaser, Rock and Roll, The Second Coming, Coitus, Birthdeath Experience.) 18.00

WORLD INFERNO FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY Addicted To Bad Ideas CD (chunksaw - THE WORLD/INFERNO FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY: your circus-related, punk-rockety orcestra gang from Brooklyn, New York! You knowoverdressed boys/girls, double digits, capable of startling aggression, making punk a treat again for more than 10 years now? More a tribe than a band, really. Well, they've worked out this mathematical equation reconciling bravery, idealism and fun, and they'd like to show you an example. Punk rockers armed with orchestra elucidate the 20th century through the life of world-battered, morphine-crazed, tragi-comic character actor Peter Lorre, from whose laconic idealism WORLD/INFERNO seems to have taken most of their career cues. The manically beautiful song Spiel trips through vampires, Berlin, strings, horns, anti-fascist action, '40's Hollywood, piano, guitar, drums and heroism with a good criminal heart and a smile for which to die.) 14.00

CD

AIDAN BAKER - The Sea Swells A Bit... CD ( a silent place - This is just amazing. "The Sea Swells A Bit..." is comprised of three epic tracks weighing in at around 20 minutes each, and over the duration Baker experiments with guitar textures, tape loops and drum machines to create a thoroughly warming and textured listening experience. There are echoes of the avant-shoegazers Windy and Carl or Labradford, or even Talk Talk / Bark Psychosis in places, resonances of post rock and hints at the dreamy ambience of Brian Eno or Stars of the Lid, but Bakers sound feels more live and more spontaneous than any of the above. The eponymous opening track is the choice cut here, coming across like the Cocteau Twins submerged beneath the Atlantic. Its an aquatic journey into hidden melodies and waterlogged, wheezing drum sounds and after 20 minutes youre deep into Bakers world. However its not single tracks that make this album what it is, its the blurry vision that Baker exudes over the course of the entire record, making for an utterly involving and mind-meltingly beautiful listening experience. Sublime.) 14.00

COMADRE / TRAINWRECK split 2xCD (bloodtown - This is a double CD with an eight panel, fold-open, gatefold cover with Comadre contributing four tracks of their own passionate, energetic blend of mid-'90s Orchid-influenced screamo and traditional hardcore and Germany's Trainwreck providing five tracks, playing a somewhat similar style, but with a much heavier sound, set off by dark, melodic guitars.) 13.00

COMADRE The Youth CD (bloodtown - Comadre is from the Bay Area. This is their first release. It is 10 songs of loud, chant-filled, HELLA heart-felt hardcore punk all writen, recorded, and sang by kids who live radical. It originally came out in October 2004 in a spray painted/hand-assembled CD jewel case, along with a hand-assembled/photo copied booklet. This is the second press, which was sent out to be fully pressed with a full color booklet along with all of that other crazzy jazz a rad CD comes with. Both versions have been put out on the band's label: Bloodtown Records.) 11.50

MOLASSES you will never be well no more CD (alien 8 - A first release from one of the most eclectic, enigmatic musical ensembles in Montréal. Molasses has played with Smog, godspeed you black emperor! (with whom it shares members), Sackville, Wooden Stars, the Eyesores and Fly Pan Am.) 16.00

MOLASSES trilogie - toil and peaceful life CD (alien 8 - More bleak, beautiful music from Molasses: the strange signature marriage of folk-noir with order and disorder, improv and noise.) 16.00

MOLASSES a slow messe DCD (alien 8 - The latest release by Montreal folk-drone ensemble Molasses, a harrowing 26 track double CD. Featuring a slew of honorary members and distinguished guests, a slow messe is a remarkable and ambitious accomplishment, full of the delicate ballads, explosive improvisations, swirling drones and orchestrated minimalism that have helped earn Molasses its cult following.) 17.00

AL FREDDO/ FAILED SUICIDE PLAN - split 7" (tdd – Al freddo are from Italy, they play screamo in the vein of Raein; Failed suicide plan are from Germany, they are more into From ashes rise / Converge stuff (stolen from the label) Beautiful cover and limited to 350 copies) 4.00

ANS / SEASICK Billy In A Bearsuit split 7" (headcount - On this split, ANS play a fast, skate-inspired hardcore punk from the Gulf Coast, with Seasick hailing from the Jersey shore keeping it fast, with two songs and an intro of Bad Brains-inspired hardcore mayhem. 7" comes with a free digital download code for the record.) 4.50

BAD REACTION plastic world 7" (flat back - Latest EP from this California after their well-received full-length. These guys play some really diverse HC with a cool, Zero Boys-like bass sound, some Ginn-esque riffage and pissed-off vocals that recall early AFI (a good thing I think!). These guys definitely separate themselves from the pack and sound Southern California as fuck. Flat Back Records.) 5.00

BATTLE ROYALE / MARKED FOR DEATH split 7”( concrete atlas records - 7" split between Marked For Death (Middlesbrough, UK) and Battle Royale (Berlin, Germany) featuring four tracks by MFD ( inlcuding a voorhees cover song, and this marks exactly the sound of mfd ) and two by BR ( way more metal than before, but still with crust / grind elements ). Limited edition of 500) 3.00
BLACK FRIDAY 29 black out 7" (crucial response - This German quintet play straight to the point, '88 styled straight-edge hardcore with lyrics tackling personal and sociopolitical issues.) 4.50

BLEACH BOYS puke wave 7" (rabid dog - This Texas band nails the old Agent Orange / JFA surf-punk sound better than any band I've heard in recent years, better even than Skate Korpse or...) 5.00

CATHETER / WOJCZECH „grinding the ruins“ split 7“ (haunted hotel records - Limited tour 7” for their us tour) 3.50
CHOPPER"kvlt as fvck" 7" (chopper are a new atlanta three piece that feature colin mee (deerhunter) on bass / vocals and george asimakos (ex blame game) on guitar /vocals. Combined with lamar george on drums and the chopper mega rock attack unit is complete. Combining the heaviness of karp with riffage reminiscent of Celtic Frost and St Vitus and one has chopper. Three tracks of brutal heaviness.) 5.00

CRUCIAL CAUSE try your luck 7" (flat back records - Debut 7" from this California band on Flat Back Records. These guys sound to me like a mix of 80s Mystic Records-style hardcore and late 80s NYHC. Imagine Dr. Know or Ill Repute trying to cover Breakdown or Absolution and you might be in the right ballpark. I even hear a similarity to long-lost Virginia straight edge heroes Four Walls Falling. Good stuff for sure, and sick cover art to boot.) 5.00

DEFEATIST thanathonic 7“ (level plane - Brand new eight-song 7" of rampaging grindcore from the same recording session that spawned the split with Kursk and solo 7" on Chainsaw Safety. With members having formerly been in Kalibas and Anodyne, they only sacrifice the speed of their fury when transitioning into more deliberate and technical passages. Think the headfuck of Anodyne mixed with the brutality of early Napalm Death.) 5.00

DOUBLE CROSSED Your Attitude Bites 7" (lifeline - Chicago's Double Crossed plays fast, modern, energetic straight edge hardcore along the lines of Carry On, Ten Yard Fight, and Far From Breaking. Even though they are young their songwriting surpasses most of their contemporaries. "Your Attitude Bites" is six songs of straight forward hardcore.) 5.00

GET UP KIDS/ ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT split 7" (vagrant - An unreleased song from both Rocket From The Crypt and The Get Up Kids, exclusive to this vinyl only release. Now available again on colored vinyl.) 6.50

ACURSED Tunneln I Ljusets Slut LP (prank - Sweden's Acursed bring a crusty, metallic hardcore attack to their debut Prank Records LP that is reminiscent of countrymates Wolfbrigade, Skitsystem and Martyrdod. They manage to maintain a dark feel throughout the record and use spoken-word pieces and noise dispersed between songs.) 11.00

AGE - The Scar Of Lead LP (black water - Japanese metal punks new killer 7 track release on vinyl. This one continues where the spider 7" left off and offers more metallic hardcore fury which compares to S.D.S., later G.I.S.M., ANTISECT & CROW.) 12.50

BADGERLORE Stories For Owls LP (yik yak - The second full-length release from psychedelic bread bakers and bird whisperers Badgerlore-- represented on this release by beard-core ambassadors Ben Chasny (Six Organs Of Admittance, Comets On Fire), Tom Carter (Charalambides), Pete Swanson (Yellow Swans), and Rob Fisk (7 Year Rabbit Cycle, ex-Deerhoof)-- Stories For Owls features six beautifully lush, organic pieces that rise and fall with the group's broke-down, burned-up improv and the interplay of piano, vocals, and dual guitars. The music is organized around the conceptual theme of birds constructing nests, and each track explores this idea differently. Stories For Owls also showcases the talents of two newcomers; Tom Carter, whose playing seems beamed in from some entirely off-kilter universe; and Pete Swanson, who by grabbing and processing live sound, both in real time and through tape-delay, gives the already rickety skeletons of these songs an even greater fragility and tenderness. Beautiful and devastating. Limited Edition. Of 500 ) 13.50

BLACK GOAT same LP (nuclear war now records - Black Goat's self-titled album was originally released in 1998 as a CDR and later repressed on CD by Nuclear War Now. This high quality LP-pressing features brand new artwork by Ben West.) 12.50

BLUES CONTROL same LP (holy mountain - As you may or may not know, it can sometimes get pretty hairy working at a record store when some smelly, denim-clad dude walks in asking for the blues. If you're lucky, he's at least wearing a belt when you point him over to the records that are now relegated to an open spot on the floor. That's just one scenario; who doesn't love those other blues fondly recalled with names like Blues Addicts and Blues Creation? And let's not forget that other queen of the blues--Barbara from Just Farr a Laugh. Blues Control might just be the missing link between Van Halen and legendary experimentalist Henry Flynt. They are a duo. Lea Cho plays swank but grounded atmospheric keyboard parts (think Harold Budd), through which guitar player and manipulator of assorted junk-on-table Russ Waterhouse cuts, whittles and lays to waste. It's a hazy, spaced world that exists between fuzzed distortion, jabbering electronics, and a lazy, stay-in-bed psychedelic glaze, with rhythmic keyboards pulsating below it all a la a guy named Florian--and you can choose which one you want.) 18.00

BLACK MOUNTAIN - In The Future DLP (jagjaguwar - In The Future is the follow-up to Black Mountain's universally lauded eponymous debut album, which landed the band a peek at the bigtime thanks to some favourable End-Of-Year list appearances, a Coldplay tour support and even a slot on the Spiderman 3 soundtrack. This sophomore release finds the band's robust psych-rock sound in rude health: the magnitude of some of the riffing on In The Future is right up there with the best of Holy Mountain's recent crop of releases, but all that heaviness is offset by the band's uncanny knack for a tune and a penchant for seriously weird '70s prog wigouts. Some of the organ and synth work on this album is positively Wakeman-esque. In fact, the soloing on 'Wucan' and 'Queens Will Play' is delivered with the same un-ironic retro analogue feel as you'd hear from Zombi, which adds a dimension of authenticity and musicianship you're unlikely to hear from a modern psych band - particularly one who've toured with Coldplay. At the tail-end of the record 'Bright Lights' manages to fuse together all the band's greatest assets into a seventeen-minute epic, sounding somewhere between Black Sabbath and an outtake from Pink Floyd's Meddle. It's a powerful, deftly executed piece of rock music that sees the band playing to their strengths, not feeling a need to fit into any kind of commercial template. Highly recommended.) 18.00

BRONX bats picture 12" (tarantula - Odd time signatures and creatures of the night are main ideas on this finely crafted piece of sonic art. Throbbing beats and frantic guitars compete heavily with each other, the end result being a concoction of sonic goo not unlike early Stooges, Murder City Devils, or Queens Of The Stone Age. Now available again as a vinyl picture disc.) 10.00

CHROME HOOF Pre-Emptive False Repture DLP (southern - Chrome Hoof have finally managed to compress all the manic energy, tight prog chops and disco-ball hedonism into the most unashamedly enjoyable record you'll hear this year. Part dizzying instrumental mastery, part mind-buggering sci-fi fantasy, part big band ferocity - all incredible. 11 tracks 47 minutes. Tight prog chops and disco-ball hedonism - the most unashamedly enjoyable record you'll hear this year. Incredible! LP versions w/ a silver embroided cover - which looks fuckin' A) 18.50

DEAD ELEPHANT lowest shared descent LP (tdd records - In costant evolution, Dead elephant provide the second chapter of their story. DRAIN THE SKY Haunted By Rivers LP (w/ bonus CD) (level plane - Cohesively blending together the melancholic inclination of Neurosis and the ripping attack of His Hero Is Gone, Drain The Sky's debut album is a diverse and upright punch in the gut. Pensive at one moment and pissed off in the next, this is sure to please fans of the aforementioned bands as well as anybody that likes their music genuine and sincere. The record comes packaged in a gatefold jacket with the original artwork from Carl Auge and includes a bonus CD containing the full album for all digital enthusiasts.) 14.00

ENVY All The Footprints You've Ever Left And The Fear ... LP (temporary residence - As part of the celebration surrounding the release of "Abyssal," "All The Footprints You've Ever Left" is set to once again be available for the first time since its 2001 release on HG Fact. The album introduced Envy to Americans when it was released in a limited supply in the US by Dim Mak and is widely regarded as an innovative, high mark for hardcore.) 15.00

ENVY abyssal 12" (US PRESS) (temporary residence - These four tracks serve as a stop-gap between "Insomniac Doze" and their eagerly anticipated next full-length, sounding more like the missing link between the driving, cacophonous force of their breakthrough third album "A Dead Sinking Story" and the lush, cinematic tones of "Insomniac Doze." This sound takes its cues from similar forward-thinkers Pelican, Red Sparowes and Boris and infuses it with incredibly impassioned vocals.) 15.00

THE EXPLOSION sick of modern art LP (tarantula - "Sick Of Modern Art" further develops the urgent, aware and intelligent theme that The Explosion has become known for. This five song EP was recorded in the band's home town of Boston during the course of 2002 by Matt Squire and mixed by Paul Q. Kolderie (Radiohead, Pixies). Now available again on vinyl and CD.) 10.00

GHASTLY CITY SLEEP same LP (robotic empire - It isn't often new music surfaces that is so deeply intense, just hearing it may induce instant nostalgia; the ancient sensations you get when the seasons change, a vivid dream involving the first person you ever loved. In the same way that select few can simultaneously achieve dark and uplifting songs, the Brooklyn-based quartet known as GHASTLY CITY SLEEP hone in on some immensely powerful elements to deliver a commanding, breathtaking first offering. On the GHASTLY CITY SLEEP debut, four tracks span thirty minutes... and when it's done, you actually feel different. To say it's "moving" is an understatement with what Robotic Empire safely proclaims to be one of the most groundbreaking releases we've ever been a part of - While two pieces nearly reach the six-minute mark and the other two eclipse nine, the whole offering flows with a smooth liquidity, creating one solidified, captivating body of work. The four young men involved in GHASTLY CITY SLEEP don't stick to one instrument long, as the entire collective can be found playing everything from guitars, keys, various percussion and just about everything in between. The multitude of layers involved here are accompanied by a warm yet haunting array of vocals, all helping to produce this simply epic debut. This vinyl version is housed within two jackets (the outer one having a spot varnish) and overall this turned out beautifully! Colored vinyl) 15.00

GEORGIE JAMES places LP (saddle creek - Combine evocative production, inventive songwriting, and multi-part harmonies mixed with the duo's passion for 60s and 70s pop, including The Kinks, Richard and Linda Thompson, The Jam, Simon and Garfunkel, and some "Shake Some Action" -era Flamin' Groovies and you've got Georgie James. These twelve tracks are pure pop bliss that look toward the future, but are undeniably rooted in music from generations past.) 15.00

GOATLORD "Reflections of the Solstice" Regular LP (nuclear war now - The classic 1991 debut, from the infamous Las Vegas. They are blackened Death Doom metal released by Turbo/JLAmerica back in 1992 and originally released as ‘’Reflections of the Solstice’’ by Turbo Germany in ‘91. This 2007 repress contains the JL America version of the mix plus two bonus tracks for the die hard version (Voodoo Mass and Chicken Dance - Euro version). Features guest backing vocals by Mitch Harris of Napalm Death on three songs. Taking influences from Bathory (vocals) and Hellhammer (doom), Goatlord created some of the most cult recording to come out of the over crowded US death metal scene.) 15.00

GOATLORD "The Last Sodomy of Mary" DLP (nuclear war now - Unreleased material of more excellent death/doom.) 18.50

GODFLESH love and hate in dub LP (kreation – back in stock. the mighty Godflesh sound remixed in a dark/ambient dubwise style by Justin Broadrick. One of the only Godflesh albums not yet available on vinyl...so here ya go! One of the first ever dub/metal fusions. A historic release indeed. Pre Jesu.) 16.50

GOLDEN EXTRA GOLDEN - Hera Ma Nono DLP (thrill jockey - The cross continental collaborative success of Extra Golden (a project featuring Ian Eagleson and Alex Minoff of the Washington D.C. based rock bands Weird War and Golden and Otieno Jagwasi and Onyango Wuod Omari of the Nairobi, Kenya based benga band Orchestra Extra Solar Africa) looked like it would be confined to just one album when in 2005 singer/guitarist/co-founder Otieno Jagwasi died tragically. The band had recently been offered shows and wanted to capitalise on the interest and the recording opportunity it would give if the musicians could play together, but without a singer this would hardly be possible. Thankfully singer Opiyo Bilongo offered to fill the void and after a handful of hugely successful live appearances the newly invigorated group went into the studio and recorded this sophomore album 'Hera Ma Nono'. So the first difference then is pretty obvious as Bilongo's voice is quite drastically different from Jagwasi's but Bilongo has a melodic touch that lends itself well to the music, and while it might be lacking some of the urgency and vibrancy the differences make up for this. The band's keen re-interpretation of Kenyan Benga music and the fusion with a sound more rooted in Chicago post-rock is where they truly succeed, and 'Hera Ma Nono' is a great follow up to their promising debut. The attention to detail and incredible musicianship as well as an eye towards the dancefloor should endear this album to anyone interested in music slightly removed from the norm...) 18.00

ILDJARN "Hardangervidda Part I" Double LP (nuclear war records - Named after a Norwegian mountain plateau that is also the location of one of the largest glaciers in Norway, this album of ambient works by Ildjarn is the embodiment of the exquisite desolation of that cold and alien region in which man and his technologies are rendered meaningless by nature’s majesty. Among the last recordings completed by Ildjarn (although he is accompanied by Nidhogg), Hardangervidda is perhaps the most highly composed of his works. Thorough in its exploration of human solitude and alienation from nature, these albums are the culmination of Ildjarn’s work and a fitting end to the career of one of the most profound contributors to the black metal underground. Originally released on CD in 2002, this is the first time these recordings have been available on vinyl. Released by Hearse Records with assistance from NWN! Productions. Double white vinyl with gatefold jacket.) 18.50

MAMMATUS - The Coast Explodes LP (holy mountain - This is the sort of music that makes me want to shop showering daily. It's a part of my upbringing I'm not proud of, but when I miss a shower I feel terrible - I feel unclean and slightly sticky, smelly and a generally a bit wrong. However, the more I listen to stomping progressive psychedelic rock, the more I feel like dodging incoming soap and letting my hair fall into neatly egged dredlocks. I want to start believing in the healing power of crystals and homeopathy, start enjoying over-stewed vegetables masquerading as 'east Indian cuisine' and talking about that time when I 'lost myself in (insert trendy country here)' and I want to have a rich mummy and daddy to fund my pharmaceutical-fuelled excesses. Luckily whenever I have these urges I'm reminded to look in the mirror and realise that in fact I'm a bespectacled loser who spends most of his time typing up music reviews on the computer in his nice, clean environment, wondering about the rising prices of free range meat at Tesco - nice to know that I can still enjoy Mammatus though. They might be likely aiming their hugely enjoyable headbanded sound at beardy fellers the world over, but it's bloody good, and if you've got an interest in what Earth would sound like if they started making Krautrock then you really need to take a closer look at this one. So it might occasionally lapse into Hawkwind-lite rock excesses, but I can handle that, in fact when I'm not pretending I'm hip I actually dig that kind of thing. The first track here is where it's at, a twelve minute monster it builds from intense percussive prog into a half-speed rock monster, almost forcing you to ingest the acid that is leaking from the speaker cones. It's absorbing stuff and further reason to get all misty-eyed about the lovely Holy Mountain label - grab it, rock out. 'Nuff said.) 18.00

NOCTURNAL GRAVES "Satan's Cross" LP (nuclear war now - After releasing some exceptional demos and a picture 7” since they formed in 2004, Nocturnal Graves at last release their first full length LP. An appropriate and honorable addition to the NWN! roster, Nocturnal Graves play searing and aggressive metal in the true Australian barbarian tradition. These songs are far from generic, however. The trio of marauders known as Nocturnal Graves creates maniacal deathrash untainted by all non-metal influences. All of the members are well known in the Australian scene and their professionalism and devotion to their demonic craft is apparent in every riff they have written for this album. In addition to the attention to detail paid to their songwriting, the band spent many hours in the studio to achieve flawless production. The end result is something similar in style and artistry to Ares Kingdom’s Return to Dust yet retaining some of the inherent bestiality that pervades the Australian scene. Ultimately, this is how deathrash should be played and recorded. All other inferior bands should take lessons from these masters. The heavy vinyl LP comes housed in high quality gatefold jacket with printed innersleeve and includes a full color A2 poster.) 15.00

NVH/Chasny - Plays the Book of Revelations LP (yik yak - Vinyl debut of the long anticipated LP by Noel Von Harmonson (Comets on Fire, NVH) and Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance, Comets On Fire). Guitar and electronics are deposited in a sacrificial heap at the gates of hell, sickly intertwined and indistinguishable. Bathed in the blood of apocalyptic alchemy, this caterwauling creature rears two heads and screams one wrathful scream. Recorded to two-track tape in San Francisco over the winter of 2005 and mastered by Hans Gruesel at the Krankenkabinet; features deluxe, hand screened black-on-black multipanel packaging. Limited to 666 copies.) 23.00

OM Pilgrimage LP (back in stock – southern lord - VINYL FORMAT. The 3rd sacred voyage of drone mantra purity from Om! Helmed by the master rhythm section of Chris Hakius (drums) and Al Cisneros (bass) (both formerly of Sleep) Pilgrimage contains four brand new songs featuring the gropus unique use of riff, cadence and chant. Lyrical themes address the processes of mind, psychic reality, astral and causal planes of being, and the nature of the soul. Pilgrimage was recorded and engineered by Steve Albini at his Electrial Audio studios in Chicago and produced by the band. Mastering was handled by Bob Weston (also of Shellac). Of particular note is how much the song-writing has developed and in turn makes the dynamics of the songs much more intensely powerful. The present journey finds the band expanding their vision into new territories.) 16.00

OM variations on theme LP (holy mountain - OM reunites one of the most powerful rhythm sections in rock music; Al Cisneros [bass, vocals] and Chris Hakius [drums] both ex-members of the legendary Sleep. "Variations on a Theme" is comprised of three long songs employing a series of rhythmic chants whose cadence-like textural drive conveys flight. The album's numerous lyrics serve as symbolist vehicles to a state outside the field of time and space. "Variations on a Theme" is a series of vibrations and flow. The opening track, "On The Mountain at Dawn" is the thematic blueprint of the entire album; a transportive series of differentiated verse with sets of solid groove. "Kapila's Theme" furthers the motif while the closer "Annapurna" breaks the spell, where the final wash of sound reflects the infinite.) 18.00

OM Conference of the bird LP (holy mountain - Comprised of two songs that build on Om's (Al Cisneros and Chris Hakius, rhythm section of legendary sludge and stoner rock pioneers, Sleep) use of cyclical rhythm, riff, and vocal intonation, the duo's new album Conference of the Birds blends metal, chant, drone, dub, and psychedelia. The band's lyrics expound upon the structure of the universe, potentiality, and freedom from the physical body. Engineered by Billy Anderson and produced by the band, Conference of the Birds progresses beyond their debut, Variations on a Theme, with more fully realized songwriting and production.) 18.00

ROBERT MARTIN long goodbye LP (yik yak records - I first heard ROBERT MARTIN's Long Goodbye while surrounded by friends. Even over the din of voices rallying to quantify, qualify, contain, bag and tag what we were all hearing, I was sure I'd never heard anything quite like it. Long Goodbye opens with some broken acoustic noodling that sounds like a Derek Bailey slow motion replay, over which a double-tracked cry of voices transmits mournfully, meticulously, and with an unnerving sense of purpose. From there it gets stranger and more beautiful, as Martin sings with unique abandon-is there such a thing as sad joy?-often wordlessly, frequently incoherently. The tunefulness of Martin's achingly beautiful voice sits in sharp contrast to the crudely played guitar, and sets Martin apart from his lamentably more 'in the know' contemporaries. There are few touchstones for the magic contained herein-Bobb Trimble at his most wounded, Tony Caro and John's All On The First Day LP, the earliest blues recordings of Guitar Roberts-but Martin's intensely private music is all his own. And now, ours to share."-James Jackson Toth San Francisco, July 2007.) 13.00

SAVIOURS into Abaddon LP (kemado - Into Abaddon was recorded fresh off a red-hot tour of the United Kingdom as hand-picked direct support to progressive metal giants Mastodon and a 14-city road jaunt that saw the inclusion of many of the songs that comprise the new full-length, which will be released January 22, 2008. On the topic of the forthcoming album and the band's new label home, SAVIOURS drummer Scott Batiste comments, "We signed to Kemado because they understand what we're trying to do more than any other label. We each share a vision of how a Saviours record should be released." SAVIOURS' standout cut "Circle of Servants Bodies" represented the ass-kicking opening salvo for Kemado's excellent compilation of rare and unreleased heaviness, 2006's much-publicized "Invaders". The release, called "a nearly flawless and numbingly coherent compilation of contemporary heavy rock" features a host of today's best hard rock and metal acts that, in addition to SAVIOURS, also includes The Sword, Big Business, High on Fire, Wolfmother and Torche. "Circle of Servants Bodies" can be heard in the MP3 section of this site.) 14.00

SCREAM Still Screaming LP (dischord – finally repressed – their first and best record. Great DC hardcore like you know it. A must have) 11.50

APPLES & MILK Master of Disguise Cd (interregum - ”Like a non-southern Iron & Wine or more pop-minded Mountain Goats, Apples & Milk’s Master of Disguise debut EP is simply beautiful. I’m tempted to claim it’s Sonic Youth if they were strictly acoustic (although I have no way to prove this), or perhaps the sort of music crickets are trying to make on summer nights (but again, I have no way to prove this) 11.50

AUSTIN LUCAS - PUTTING THE HAMMER DOWN CD (magic bullet - AUSTIN LUCAS was born and raised in the midwest before moving over to the czech republic just over 4 years ago. he's played (and still plays) in punk bands for most of his youth and all of his adult life... but, as anyone will tell you, his genius truly shines in his country/folk recordings and live shows, where his roots and heritage become strikingly apparent.) 12.00

FEAR FALLS BURNING / BIRCHVILLE CAT MOTEL split CD (conspiracy - A collaboration between the two experimental artists that meant to happen. Belgium's Fear Falls Burning teams up with New Zealand's Birchville Cat Motel for 1 single long track displaying their fascination for the metallic and slow expanding drone. Made with guitars, amps, processing and subtle percussion, this album brought out the best in each other and is a lively, pulsating, moody and intense drone manifest.) 12.50

ROBEDOOR Closer To The Cliff CD (ltd to 300) (Interregnum - Four fresh comas for the old and eyeless. Bleak dreams, chimes. It's too late. Recorded Fall 2007 in Eagle Rock, CA. Mastered by Lasse Marhaug. Edition of 300.) 12.50

THIS WILL DESTROY YOU "same" CD (magic bullet - Not much more than a year ago, a tiny, unknown band from Texas put out their debut record "Young Mountain" through Magic Bullet Records, a 6-song, 36 minute disc originally only intended to be a DIY demo sold at local shows. It's fair to say that nobody could have predicted the year to follow, one in which THIS WILL DESTROY YOU went from local heroes to international darlings at a trajectory quicker than shit through a goose. The phenomenon took hold shortly after a brief basement tour of the west coast with labelmates SPARROWS SWARM AND SING. After a fun trip filled with good times and surprisingly large audiences (this was their first time out of Texas), the band returned home, unknowingly settling into what would become the eye of the storm to follow. Reviews of the album began to pour in, all singing unanimous praise. Hell, even Pitchfork liked it... inciting a scramble for the record at retail and online (the band became one of iTunes' top artists in 2007). This parlayed into the THIS WILL DESTROY YOU being name-checked in publications like Rolling Stone and ultimately being awarded "2006 Album Of The Year" by Rock Sound editor Darren Taylor. 2007 saw even more growth for the band, as their music started seeing placement in everything from skateboarding and paintball videos to cable networks (VH1, Fuel, MTV) to independent documentary films and even major studio films. In one of the most bizarre events possible, the music of THIS WILL DESTROY YOU was present during a high-profile briefing and presentation before the nation's top military brass inside the Pentagon (yes, THAT Pentagon) concerning the failed efforts of Hurricane Katrina. Meanwhile, the band stayed active on the live front, stealing the show at a sold-out SXSW showcase and accepting an invitation to tour the U.S. with soon-to-be-upstaged-every-single-night FEAR BEFORE THE MARCH OF FLAMES. "S/T" is the second album from THIS WILL DESTROY YOU, clocking in a 7 tracks and 52 minutes. Recorded and produced by John Congleton (EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, MODEST MOUSE, R. KELLY), it is a stunning and worthy follow-up to "Young Mountain." Darker and seamlessly more dynamic and emotionally gripping than its predecessor, "S/T" is primed and ready to push their entire genre forward and continue to win the band hearts and minds across the planet. This is a landmark album by a band that will inevitably be mentioned in the same breath as MOGWAI and SIGUR RîS without hesitation. Dive in.) 12.50

THE BRONX Live At The Annandale DVD (This live DVD captures The Bronx at their most raw and intense level, unedited and uncut. The entire show was filmed in 2004 with a handheld DV camera at a sold out show in Sydney, Australia and gives an up close and personal account of the chaos that ensues when The Bronx hits the stage.) 18.00

MONO The Sky Remains The Same As Ever DVD (temporary residence - The Sky Remains The Same As Ever is a nearly two-hour document of the recording sessions for You Are There, and the several worldwide tours that followed its release. In addition to the dozen live songs that are documented in all their sweaty fury, the film captures the decidedly less glamorous aspects of being an underground rock band from a foreign country, expressing sentiments through body language out of necessity, and driving...lots and lots of driving. Most effectively, the film displays the friendships that have made MONO's journeys enjoyable, and the fanatical dedication that has made it all possible) 17.50

PELICAN After The Ceiling Cracked DVD/CD (hydra head - These accomplished Chicagoans have been kicking ass and taking names on an international basis for years now. This DVD features Pelican's already legendary live set from The Scala in Kings Cross, London, on December 20, 2005, plus interviews, live bonus material shot at various stops on the band's past US tours, a video for "Autumn Into Summer," and an extensive photo gallery. SIGUR ROS - Heima DVD (Well, after much hype and press attention, Heima, the hotly anticipated Sigur Ros concert and documentary DVD set is finally available, and it turns out to be every bit the exemplary piece of rock music filmmaking you'd hoped for. Director Dean DeBlois is best known for his work on animated features such as Mulan, Lilo & Stitch (he even worked as an assistant animator on TV show The Raccoons), but apparently he's also a longstanding Sigur Ros fan. Working on this project must have been a real dream ticket for anyone with even a passing interest in the band; the film follows Sigur Ros traversing their homeland playing gigs in a variety of unlikely, seemingly unaccommodating venues to varying numbers of fans (ranging from 20,000 to mere handfuls). Heima isn't exactly likely to dispel the old cliché that Sigur Ros' music shares some kind of inextricable link to the topography of their native Iceland, the astonishing geographical features of the band's home country are as much a focal point for this documentary as Sigur Ros themselves, and the film is cut in such a way as to sculpt the motion of waterfalls and swirling black clouds into some sort of music video format. To the more cynical among you this might sound like some sort of Sunday teatime viewing your grandparents would enjoy, but irrespective of the pastoral imagery, the band sound utterly rapturous when they blast through the multiple crescendos of 'Glossoli'.) 19.50
