D.I. - Ancient artifacts LPcol 14.90 EUR

PUNK. Essentially just vocalist Casey Royer surrounded by an ever-changing lineup of sidemen, D.I. got its start in Orange County, CA, in 1982. After honing his chops as drummer in the original lineup of SOCIAL DISTORTION, Royer put together D.I. and released their first self-titled EP soon after. 1985 saw the release of the follow-up, "Ancient Artifacts," which is considered by many to be their best work. Now available again on vinyl. If you like their hits ''Falling out'' or ''Hang ten in East Berlin'', here is where they are on! (2008/NICKEL & DIME)

PUNK. This record by Casey Royer teaming up with members of the ADOLESCENTS was originally released in 1989. It contains 9 great and melodic old-school Hardcore/Punk songs, among them ''Nuclear Funeral", "The Saint", "Richard Hung Himself" (originally by the ADOLESCENTS, "Reagan Der Fuhrer", and "Uncontrollable Urge" (originally by DEVO). The band turned a bit slower here and some of the songs are heavier and darker, but you still find some of those good mid-tempo songs. Now available again on vinyl. (2008/NICKEL & DIME)

HARDCORE. This masterpiece has been remastered and recut for your listening pleasure in November 2008 at Chicago Mastering Service. HARDCORE. This four-piece from Lünen/Germany knows how to ride the fast train! This is some serious old-school stuff delivered with passion, dedication and conviction without getting dull and boring. Taking no prisoners, the band keeps going at full throttle, though they sometimes stop for a little moshpart. Nonetheless, the 11 songs are over in under 24 minutes. No compromises in the lyrics either. They burst of Hardcore mentality and attitude without be stupid. If you like genuine Hardcore, you'll love DISOBEY. (2008/GOOD BOYS)

FAITH , THE / VOID - Split LPcol 11.50 EUR

HARDCORE/PUNK.This Split album by two of Washington D.C. early Hardcore groups VOID and THE FAITH was originally released on Dischord Records in 1982. VOID was one of the earliest examples of Hardcore/Metal crossover and their chaotic musical approach here is often cited as particularly influential. This essential LP (on colored vinyl) was remastered and recut at Chicago Mastering Service in November 2008 and comes with a free MP3 download of the album. (2008/DISCHORD)

GUNS UP! - All this was DVD 12.90 EUR

HARDCORE. Massachusetts Hardcore outfit GUNS UP! had played hundreds of venues around the world between 2002 and 2007. Their run finally ended on February 2 2007, when 1,300 people trudged through a half foot of snowfall for one last glimpse at the madness. Documented here is GUNS UP!'s set from that infamous show in Hudson, MA, replete with multiple camera angles, epic soundboard mix, stage mosh, snowball fights, and over one thousand screaming humans. Also, the DVD contains a lot of accompanying retrospective footage and band interviews. (2009/1917)

HEAVY HEARTED - Same 7'' 4.50 EUR

HARDCORE. The four songs on this 7" also appear on the "Overcast" CD full-length on Detonate Records, but this is the first time they are available on vinyl. From Rochester, NY, HEAVY HEARTED play a heavy and aggressive style of Hardcore akin to BLACKLISTED and HAVE HEART while members have done time in such bands as BURIED ALIVE and POLAR BEAR CLUB.

HARDCORE/PUNK. After a well received demo tape, self-released of course, comes this quick and over-killer EP by HIGH LIFE. These youngsters from Denton, TX rage hard on this 6-song EP. Definitely of the old style caliber but a bit different, too. They remain very punk in their speedy approach to Hardcore and on some songs they play very fast, almost to the point that when you hear it being played, you wonder if they are going off the rails.

IMPULSE INT'L, THE - The real kid 7'' 3.90 EUR

Punk. Here we have the second single from IMPULSE INT’L with the 2 killer songs ''The real kid'' and ''The world hates me''. And it’s another power pop gem. As a comparison, the IMPULSE INT’L remind me of PAUL COLLINS BEAT’s ''Rock'n'Roll girl'' which pretty much means they play extremely catchy power pop . Their first single (also on DERANGED) received top notch reviews (see below) and this is more of the same brilliant sound. An album is now in the works and an EP on MUTANT POP records is expected any day now. (2008/DERANGED)

PUNK. Adding a dose of psych weirdness to their patented garage-punk-R&B sound has resulted in the band's finest moment. Vocalist Casey Grajek's raw-throated vocals have never sounded more powerful and guitarists Jordan Davis and Mount Mathieu D'Congo's dueling solos harken back to the MC5 and the YARDBIRDS. This is great stuff that sounds immediately classic. Culled from several sessions and stacks of recording tape, "Incontinopia" was assembled by bassist/drummer Mike Zink, whose abstract approach to editing has given the album a weirdness that brings to mind ''Head''-era MONKEES colliding with 'Funhouse'-era STOOGES. When WE ONCE LOVED from Berlin take over they present a kind of straighter and more old-school type of Hardcore that is definitely rooted in Punkrock.
