here we go:
7“
BLONDE REDHEAD slogan/ limited conversation 7" (touch and go – two
amazing songs by this chicago band – one is a Serge Gainsbourgh cover) 4.50
BLONDE REDHEAD symphony/ kasuality 7" (touch and go – 2 songs from 1997
– good) 4.50
DEFIANCE, OHIO/Environmental Youth Crunch split 7" (dead tank - Born to
be sharing some wax, these 2 bands hop skip and jump along with some
rocking folk punk! Songs addressing beer, record collecting, fortunate
sons and more. Full of everything great you’ve come to expect from both
these bands!) 4.00
HORROR, the / WAR ALL THE TIME split 7" (zandor music - This review
doesn't need writing. If you're looking at a website that dabbles in
hardcore and you don't know who the fucking Horror are, then you're beyond
help and should shoot yourself in the face now. They're ex-Voorhees
(heard of them?) with the singer from Imbalance (if you've not heard of
them, that's understandable though equally if not more annoying) and play
fucking great fast and shouty hardcore with a distinct rock 'n' roll
feel as you might expect from old men who've been at it for years and
should know better but luckily don't. Sweet. War All The Time win it for
me though. Whereas The Horror aren't averse to chucking in the odd solo,
have intros and outros and sometimes slip in some singalong bits, WATT
are the purest hardcore hit I've heard in years. Stripped-down and to
the fucking point, they really show how much can be done with so few
ingredients. So utterly simple, so brutally direct, this is exactly what
hardcore should be like. It's totally zen man. Plus is there a song
about Thatcher in there? Jesus. Further proof that no one under the age of
30 (or should that be 40?!?!) should be in a band." - kunal,
collective zine) 4.00
IN THE RED/ GIT SOME split 7" (1234go - The music is amazing and the
people involved are very close to my heart. In The Red is Mike Hale of
Gunmoll's new west coast band. To me it essentially takes up where
Gunmoll left off and it's amazing. Git Some has Neil and Chuck from Planes
Mistaken For Stars, headmaster Lucious Fairchild and Mad Andy Lindstrom.
And to wrap it all up my friend Cristy Road did the cover! (1234go
records)) 4.50
MOSS/ MONARCH split 7" (rise above – back in stock. Awesome split 7"
which features an insanely slow cover of Discharge classic 'Maimed &
Slaughtered' performed by UK sicko slomo's, Moss Sharing this split are
French freaks Monarch, who do a ripping rendition of Turbonegro fave 'I
Got Erection', with crazed female vocals! Great stuff - we got black wax)
6.00
ORANGE GOBLIN – Some You Win, Some You Lose 7" (rise above – two great
songs!!! – a must have ... ) 6.00
RUINATION dead horse 7" (no idea - yeah - a handful back in stock on
colored vinyl) 4.50
SCHIFOSI "Half Lit World" 7" (aborted society - 4 tracks of unrelenting
melodic hardcore from Australia's Schifosi. Epic, brutal,
quintessential hardcore crust with female vocals. Extremely powerful lyrics,
artwork, and presentation. Taking right where their LP "Ill Winds from
Outopia" left off, this release is darker, heavier, and more melody driven.
Includes lyric insert.) 4.00
TUNGUSKA/DENOVISSIMIS split 7" (super_fi - "Tunguska from Dublin,
Ireland, but with members also originating from Poland, are delivering two
tracks of dark and hard hitting hardcore tunes on here, with one foot in
the d-beat and another in crust - but always ready to step out of the
mould and incorporate other influences as well. The angry riffs and
accompanying sharp melodies are executed in a real powerful manner on
here, making Tunguska being an explosive and twitchy as well as doom laden
band. Features ex- and current members of Easpa Measa, Silence, and
Antichrist (the latter two being from Poland) to name some and I feel that
using these as musical references can give you an idea on what we're
dealing with. De Novissimis (also Dublin) are even darker, mixing some
extremely heavy, loud, and down tuned music with experimental screamo
and ambient noise in the one long track on their side. Sometimes they
play slow doom and at other times they increase the speed almost reaching
blast beat levels. This is quite good and they undoubtedly manage to
set the dark and agonizing atmosphere they're after as this is almost
painful to listen to, and I'm not meaning painful as in bad here. This is
the soundtrack to doomed souls screaming in agony. Don't worry about
the screamo part by the way, it's just a few small influences, it does
not in anyway make this suck.") 4.00
VITAL REMAINS icons on evil DLP (century media - if you're a death
metal fan, there's no reason under the sun why you shouldn't own _Icons of
Evil_. After all, with the exception of the forthcoming Nile record, I
can't think of another death metal release this year that is so heavily
weighted down in expectation. This in turn could possibly also explain
why the band have chosen to play it safe this time around. Very safe
indeed, as it turns out.) 15.00
WITCHCRAFT if the crimson was your.. 7" (rise above - The masters of
all things vintage return with two brand new ripping tracks as a stop
between albums. Both songs display a return to the rawer, less polished
production of their debut, self – titled album.
A-Side, ‘If Crimson Was Her Colour’ shows a definite progression in the
song writing department and is a good indication of the Majestic
Psychedelic Doom rock we can expect on the bands forthcoming third album,
scheduled for release Easter 2007.
The overall theme is one of murder B-Side ‘I Know You Killed Someone’
is a balls out blues rocker with a ‘killer’ main riff. The 7inch will be
released on vinyl only, an indication of where the true spirit of this
exceptional band lies.) 6.00
10“
ANIMAL COLLECTIVE pearebone 10” (domino records – new limited 10inch
on domino records) 11.00
PELICAN Pink Mammoth 10" (hydra head -- This 10" single combines a new
version of the song "Mammoth" (now called "Pink Mammoth") and a remix
of the song "End Of Seasons" by Prefuse 73. The record comes packaged in
a hard, full-cover sleeve and full-cover hard stock dust sleeve.)
16.50
UNEARTHLY TRANCE the axis is shifting 10" (bananana -
Occult-Psyche-Doom put that together and you have Unearthly Trace-the Axis is Shifting
10". Two tracks: first "Oceans Expand" a track that has never been
released and second "Branches of Anti-Gravity" an old track that has been
reworked. Once featured on U.T.'s Nuit demo. 500 pressed and hand
numbered total.) 14.00
LP
ANIMAL COLLECTIVE strawberry jam 2xLP ( domino records - The fourth LP
from this avant-garde powerhouse is its most lyrics driven and,
ultimately, most accessible album to date. Get yourself some indie
street-cred and discover something great in the process — what's there to lose?)
19.00
ANS the process of stoking out LP (trashbastard records – trash
hardcore from Texas. Brand news)
10,00
B.U.S.H. san Paulo LP (trashbastard records – their second 12inch
for their upcoming tour in europe. Trash Hardcore from brazil) 10,00
BLACKOUT same LP (aborted society - From the storms of Minneapolis'
sub-zero winters hails BLACKOUT with their debut LP release on Aborted
Society. Drawing on equal parts hardcore, punk, blues, and metal, this is
ten tracks of raw, unabided Midwest madness. Recorded by Jon Greenslit
at the House of Misery Studios in 2006, this is the alcoholic
soundtrack for the apocalypse - a heavy influential doseage of Motorhead and
Poison Idea while retaining a strong DIY punk sensibility. Impeccably
catchy riffs and bluesy guitar solos wind their way through songs of
drinking and rogue debauchery. Includes current and ex-members of Provoked,
Scorned, Stillborn, Assrash, and Phalanx, among others. Release includes
color printed inner sleeve with lyrics, first pressing of 500 on
black) 10.50
CARETTA CARETTA we can not speak that ... LP (coralle - Caretta Caretta
don't do the Duran Duran thing. They go deep. Think From Monument to
Masses without the furious political message and tedious political
samples. Songs repetitive enough to make them stick - but not as repetitive
as to get out of hand and become boring. Just guitar, drums, bass -
well, lots of bass actually. And that keen sense of melodies. That
Dianogah sense of melodies, just not as ruminant. Majestic like their
namesake, the sea turtle. Emerging from the sea, sticking their head out in the
light for a few seconds. And then diving, with long, powerful strokes.
Going deep. LTD TO 300) 10.00
DES ARK Loose Lips Sink Ships LP (bakery outlet – back in stock. Des
Ark, on this recording, is a two piece rock band from Durham, NC. Aimee
plays some of the most kingshit guitar I've ever seen - someone you
watch trying to figure out what she's doing to produce the brilliance
coming out of her amp while projecting this piercing melody full of deeply
commanding sentiment and marching all over the place, all in one fluid
movement. Tim anchors with drums that don't compete, but are felt by
how hard he calculates the beat. It all drives and pauses and changes
direction and then gets to the point. Lucky for us fans, Des Ark
continues now through Aimee and who knows who in the future, but the
chemistry on this record is surely one of the things that makes this quite an
important one. –Rich) 11.50
FAMILY UNDERGROUND riven LP (not not fun records - Denmark's deepest
dope-dreamers dig up another pair of prism-splitting slabs of decaying
radioactivity. Riven is the FU crew at their most crouched and
concentrated, couched in fever, fog, futurism, and fucked densities, channels of
brain-wave light fusion overloading with synergistic zero hour
tectonics. Uncanny ex-men (and woman) aktivity. More metallic than Axial and
far hungrier than Future Bread, Riven resonates like a dead bell in a
buried valley, ringing, subterranean, wasted, industrial. Man-made clangs
echo in mechanized caverns. Hologram hands sweat black light in the
center of the earth. Implosion fantasies bloom. Black LPs (mastered by
Pete Swanson of Yellow Swans for supreme sonic symmetry) in fractal cave
art jackets by Svend Balslev plus a band-made insert. Limited to 450.)
12.00
GHQ - California Night Burning Dreams LP/ 3" CD (not not fun records -
These world wide web weavers work in waves, assembling for key shows
and small tours, then dissipating into their respective networks of
parallel projects/bands (Magik Markers, Moongang, Hototogisu, etc). Their
time together, however, burns bright. Last summer the GHQ triumvirate of
Nolan/Gunn/Bassett united for a leg of west coast wandering and all who
bore witness left converted. Fortunately for those not there, the
minidisc was ON at these gatherings and the California portion of the
proceedings have been pored over and wreathed into this luminous masterpiece
of Golden State mind-reading ragas. The sets showcased (Sacramento,
Eureka) shine like electric dew on a dawn Sequoia and sprawl through
sitar starscapes, acoustic fingerpicking, cosmic harmonica, and forest
floor hand-drums. A raw document of real time dream machine
vision-questing. Slate sky-blue vinyl LPs in full-color jackets (with
California-collage art by Manda) adorned with a GHQ “winged skull” logo sticker, plus a
bonus 3” CDR of their Seattle performance. Limited to 500.) 13.00
HALF ASLEEP / SRX split LP (humpty dumpty records - handnumbered to
150 copies - First release of a serie to be continued as and when the
meetings and musical affinities. Split-LP “Half Asleep-Srx” is conceived
as a double door on the universe of the female songwriting. Side A :
Young belgian Valérie Leclercq (23) and his litlle sister Oriane (20)
performing as under the name of Half-Asleep. This time, they’ve decided to
explore new melancholic and throbbing ways, oscillating between the
reinterpretation (Cold Water, Hot Water is a second reading of
Half-Sailor, song available on ‘Just before We Learned to Swim’) and the
improvisation around an existing melody structure (Hell, Bell; Nowhere,
Somewhere). Side B, Sandra Reignoux aka SRX (France) exploits the possibilities
of home recordings with disarming naivety and softness (You),
whistling (Silly Whistle) and whispering, without neglecting to make swell the
distortion and to leave free course to its anticonformist personality
(Regular). In order to join together the two girls in a common design,
Gwenola Carrère, young belgian illustrator designed a plentiful and
childish cover. Only available on vinyl) 18.00
KARATE same LP (southern .- The debut disc from Allston, MA's Karate is
a far cry from the jazzy, stripped-down rock that they would come to
embody, but it's still an incredibly fresh start and a brilliant
jumping-off point for a young band. Led by Geoff Farina's unparalleled guitar
playing, this self-titled disc draws strongly from the burgeoning emo
scene that was starting to appear at the time of its release. While
peers in Texas Is the Reason and even the Promise Ring were out honing the
early emo style, though, Karate was already taking things in a new
direction. The opening slunk of "Gasoline," with a lengthy pause after just
a few lyrics, proved that the band wasn't rushing into anything, and
the phenomenal "Bad Tattoo," one of the group's hardest-rocking songs,
made it clear that they weren't afraid to show a little grit from time
to time either. The unfaltering musicianship that Karate would come to
perfect in the next few years and records may not be completely evident
on this disc, but it is still a strong debut showing with a few truly
standout tracks that make a lot of sense as the jumping-off point for
the band's later catalog. - All Music Guide) 12.00
KILLIE afterall the opinion... LP (salvation - explosive and powerfull
screamo in the vein of reversal of man. silkscreened vinyl in gatefold
sleeve !) 10.50
LACK Blues Moderne:Danois Explosifs LP (earth water sky – we got a
handful of this record.) 11.00
MT GIGANTIC old smiler LP (harlan - This Bloomington-based sextet
channels the fancies of every bird and beast, full of bells and myth in a
wall of sound somewhere between Danielsen Familie and Antioch Arrow,
Behead the Prophet and Animal Collective! folks are/were part of Abe
Froman, Rapider Than Horsepower, Vollmar, and Matty Pop Chart.) 11.50
MUDBOY Hungry Ghosts! These Songs Are Doors LP (not not fun – This
RELEASE HAS THE SICKEST DIE CUT COVER I HAVE EVER SEEN - For most of us,
the doors of perception are triple-bolted shut and cast in bomb-proof
iron. Only supernatural shapeshifters (or career criminals) can slip
through and seize the wisdom within. But, sweetly, there is a hidden
entrance: musick-as-magick. Providence, RI patch-cable conjuror Mudboy is one
such secret key-crafter and his unlocking labors on this long-player
stand at the summit of his already awesome discography. Alchemizing
stylized soundtrack spells, organ wizardry, melodic mind-reading, and
elegantly meditative harmonium hallucinations, Hungry Ghosts! These Songs Are
Doors lights an urn’s worth of ritual powders and powers, filling the
speakers with a sign language of smoke runes and ghost tones. Lie on
the floor and be floored by Mudboy’s primordial plainsongs. Record comes
housed in a dizzyingly intricate laser die-cut fold-over cover with an
acutely aligned flame-silkscreened inner sleeve. Painstaking and
perfect. Half on blood-red wax, half on black. Limited to 500) 13.00
NUX VOMICA a civilized world LP (aborted society - From the remnants of
the Baltimore-based group WAKE UP ON FIRE, comes the debut full-length
release by NUX VOMICA entitled “A Civilized World.” Now residing in
Portland , OR , Nux Vomica picks up where The Uninspired 7” EP left off
with eight tracks of powerful and epic metallic crust punk. Acoustic
and clean-channel breakdowns mingle with intense, devastating overtures
on this LP/CD release. With poetically and politically angered vocals,
this is a completely over-the-top hardcore punk record that defies easy
classification. Recorded and mastered by Jay Matheson at the Jam Room
in Colombia , SC. Front Cover artwork by Jason Angst and Poster
artwork by Little Debee. Initial pressing of 500 LPs on black vinyl with
printed inner sleeves and a 24 x 36” poster) 10.50
ORDER OF THE VULTURE LP (Aborted Society Records is very excited to
introduce our ninth release, the self-titled LP by Portland, OR’s Order of
the Vulture. The LP features seven tracks of haunting, ethereal, and
devastating hardcore punk featuring current members of L'Acephale.
Elements of metal and raging Scandinavian influenced hardcore combine
underneath a morbid aesthetic on this 3-piece's first full length release.
Gatefold LP cover artwork by singer and guitar player JJ Shirey.) 10.50
RADON Metric Buttloads Of Rock! LP (no idea - Gainesville's legendary
Radon reunited in 2005 to play THE FEST 4, selling out Common Grounds
with a line around the block... Pretty crazy! We twisted their arms, flew
them in, and forced them to play all the songs we know and love. It
was nuts. They had such a good time that they played again in June 2006
(for Bill's 35th birthday celebration). Unbeknownst to the world at
large, Dave and Brent had been exchanging tapes for the last year... armed
with a box full of chords and lyrics, they borrowed amps, an entire
drumset, and set to work! Without further ado... ladies and gentlemen...
prepare yourselves for METRIC BUTTLOADS OF ROCK! -- "Metric Buttoads..."
contains 11 songs, all of which are new. No old songs. No re-recorded
archival footage. All-new, buttery, 2006 rock y roll, deep fried and
ready to drive!!) 11.50
THE SADDEST LANDSCAPE Lift Your Burdens High .. LP (alone records. We
got a handful of this record.
SUNBURNED CIRCLE the blaze game LP (conspiracy - SUNBURNED HAND OF THE
MAN is a band in the loose sense of the word; it's better described as
a banner under which a collective of musical freaks have gathered. So
when they toured Europe in September 2006, and ended up in the same room
as Psych/Kraut/Hard-rockers CIRCLE in Tampere-Finland, they decide to
jam together and record all of it. This session was edited down to a
total of 40-minutes which wanders ongoing through free folk, psych,
improv, spaced out- hippy jamming & noisy-rock bizareness . The
collaboration of both America's & Finland's weirdest, is nothing less than
sensational .) 15.00
SWEET COBRA forever LP (hawthorne street - Chicago's Sweet Cobra play a
fuzzed out, filthy mix of bands like The Melvins, His Hero is Gone,
Unsane, High On Fire and Discharge, with just enough Sabbath influence
thrown in for good measure.) 16.00
THE GRIEF ETERNAL on blackened wings 12" (rise above - Ever imagined
Winter playing at half the speed, then digesting a bucketful of Elephant
tranquilisers? Listening to this will have the desired effect!
Originally intended for an EP release on Rise Above back in 1991, this was
scrapped in favour of waiting for an album that never came. The band
(brainchild of Jus Oborn) changed their name to Eternal, who eventually
evolved into the band we now know as Electric Wizard!
This is an extreme cult item for die hards & collectors alike. 1,000
pressed - 500 black/500 silver/grey. Doom Or Be Doomed) 16.00
WHAT PRICE OF WONDERLAND - thirty with a wink LP (purepainsugar - It's
a split release with ape must not kill ape , hey presto and too cool to
dance . 11 songs of noisy emo punk that reminds old english band like
Bob Tilton and Polaris mixed with some Moss Icon / old DC Revolution
Summer saviours , really original and definitely not your average emo
band ...) 10.00
WINTERS satellites 12" (rise above .- Debut 12inch EP featuring four
tracks of heavy Doomed out Sludge from this newish London based band.
Killer stuff - full length to follow. ltd to 600 copies) 14.00
WITCHCRAFT Firewood LP (rise above - Sweden's masters of vintage
psychedelic doom rock return with 'firewood', an album of outstanding musical
quality & dynamics. Firewood, very limited black vinyl pressing.)
18.00
CD
KONGH Counting Heartbeats CD (trust no one - Majestically heavy.
Mammoth-sized riffs, thunderous basslines and huge pounding drums.
Dynamically blending ultra low crushing doom vibes with brighter and more
atmospheric soundscapes, "Counting Heartbeats" is a versatile, yet uniform
experience. The debut album from Swedens new doom/sludge masters, Kongh,
is nothing less than a display of the of the ultimate heaviness.) 14.00
ROBEDOOR ritual heirs CD-R (NOT NOT FUN - Out of the past and into the
white. A three song cellblock originally slated for JYRK but Detainment
Yellow Swans’ endless global touring enterprises and various other
peripheral obstacles/injuries stranded it in limbo until now. And the
omnivorous Now is all that matters. Recorded at the close of the Shining
Smoke sessions, and edited/tweaked slightly by Pete Swanson in PDX,
Ritual Heirs drifts from centrifugal spiral light patterns into a rarefied
air of slowly choking atmosphere, ascending gravitational violence, the
world’s weight dissolving into the marrow like a brick of hash lodged
in the throat. No drums, no mass cult life to shoulder blame or sorrow.
Only unclean clocks ticking above bodies, goatskin strings bowed by
blind men, corridors of cold distortion. Inherit the end times.
Metallic-stamped CDRs in white-on-white silkscreened sleeves with triforce
die-cut ghost-painted/silver sequined plastic cases. Limited 165.) 7.00

fucking great fast and shouty hardcore with a distinct rock 'n' roll
feel as you might expect from old men who've been at it for years and
should know better but luckily don't.

Elements of metal and raging Scandinavian influenced hardcore combine
underneath a morbid aesthetic on this 3-piece's first full length release.

-- "Metric Buttoads..."

jam together and record all of it. This session was edited down to a

omnivorous Now is all that matters. Recorded at the close of the Shining

Ritual Heirs drifts from centrifugal spiral light patterns into a rarefied
air of slowly choking atmosphere, ascending gravitational violence, the
world’s weight dissolving into the marrow like a brick of hash lodged
