AKUTARE - Riot city (2007/SCHIZOPHRENIC) 7" 5,- €
HARDCORE. Schizophrenic Records yet again delivers an outstanding 1st release from a band being hailed as the most important new group to hit the streets of Tokyo. AKUTARE play a mixture of 80's era japanese hardcore with strong MOTÖRHEAD influences. "Riot city" delivers 4 strong willed, high energy songs with a driving, over the top, punk rock 'n' roll sound. By the way, AKUTARE features EXTINCT GOVERNMENT and former FROM BEYOND members.
ANIMOSITY - Animal (2007/METAL BLADE) CD 13,50 €
DEATHCORE. San Francisco's ANIMOSITY are a beast, playing technical metal with blasting drums, soloing lead guitars, and jazz-fusion inspired bass. Every album ANIMOSITY has shown growth, and "Animal" continues that promising path. They aren't at an elite level yet, but their musicianship continues to improve, as does their songwriting. The songs are mostly warp speed death-metal with grindcore and some metalcore influences. The blast beats fly nonstop, and the dual guitars range from standard riffs to fast and intricate fretwork. In addition to the really fast songs, ANIMOSITY adds some diversity by slowing things down with more chugging style guitar riffs and a nice groove. ANIMOSITY is well on their way to becoming a force in death-metal.
ARCH ENEMY - Rise of the tyrant (2007/CENTURY MEDIA) CD 13,50 €
DEATH-METAL. ARCH ENEMY's latest is "Rise of the tyrant", a fierce yet extremely catchy dose of melodic death-metal. The 11 songs on this album are really melodic, with great guitar work from Chris and Mike Amott. Their chemistry is evident, and even though the songs have great grooves and riffs, there is still plenty of heaviness and brutality. It's a dark and dynamic CD with plenty of diversity in both music and vocals. Angela Gossow gets better with each release, and her angry vocals are powerful and emotional. These Swedish metal masters claim to have created the ultimate ARCH ENEMY album!
CATALYST, THE - Marianas trench (2007/PERPETUAL MOTION MACHINE) LPcol 9,- €
HARDCORE. Richmond, Virginia's THE CATALYST follow up last year's split album with MASS MOVEMENT OF THE MOTH with 4 new raging blasts of grunge and stoner inspired hardcore on this special, one-sided 12". Limited to 700 copies, "Marianas trench" features colored vinyl, a silkscreened B-side, and full color jackets. Recommended for fans of PG.99, KARP, early MELVINS, etc.
CLUSTERFUCK -How the west was won (2007/CLUSTERFUCK) LP 10,50 € / CD 9,50 €
HARDCORE-PUNK. This is CLUSTERFUCK's 1st full-length after a 7" and split 7", and it builds on their attention deficit disorder formula of blazing early California speed, strong vocal melodies and oddball songwriting that snaps on a dime. Think 2 parts ADOLESCENTS + 1 part PROLETARIAT, made by genuine old dudes from Connecticut's SEIZURE and one young lady. 18 sarcastic but sincere hardcore-punk explosions dismantling the modern condition as America absorbs and reprocess the world around it. This is classic early 80's hardcore-punk record and if your into punk music and you wanna get an album that defined the 80's punk scene, CLUSTERFUCK are one of the bands today you should start listening to.
CONVERSIONS, THE - Prisoners inventions (2007/LEVEL PLANE) LP 11,- €
HARDCORE. Working within the confines of a scene that seems to embrace nostalgia or boring metallic licks, it's unfortunate that a powerful and original hardcore-punk band is such a rarity in 2007. Enter Boston's THE CONVERSIONS into the fray. With a fury that bespeaks their influences without aping them the New England quartet bash their way through 14 tracks on their Level-Plane debut, "Prisoners' inventions". The CONVERSIONS' formula melds the mid '90's chaos of bands like MEREL and HEROIN with the bitterness of Reagan-era american hardcore. "Prisoners' inventions" breathes new life into the often stale hardcore milieu and is recommended for fans of sincere, passionate and skillfully played hardcore.

HARDCORE. Anticipated 3rd full-length by these canadian road warriors. They came out of nowhere with a fresh sound, stuck to it for their 2nd album, and turned up the filthy rock influences on this 3rd. Holy MOTÖRHEAD worship! These Canadians play yet again some rockin' material with a pretty major set of influences drawn from Lemmy and company. More biker-rock, less d-beat. Still the same old band though. Great production as usual, characteristic artwork, and a solid release. All in all it's the perfect follow-up to "City weapons". The guitars push you on and the bass totally drives it. It's dirty, it's ripping, and it's everything that you wanted it to be. If you liked both previous releases you won't be disappointed in this one.
INKED IN BLOOD - Sometimes we are beautiful (2007/FACEDOWN) CD 12,50 €
METALCORE. After playing over 200 shows in support of their last album, "Lay waste the poet", INKED IN BLOOD secluded themselves within the confines of the Spectre Studios compound to work with Troy Glessner (Underoath, Haste The Day) on the new album. The result is "Sometimes we are beautiful", a record that is at once heavier and more melodic than any of their previous works. GRINDCORE. Forget everything about grindpunk! This is popgrind! On their new album "Rauchen und yoga", JAPANISCHE KAMPFHÖRSPIELE come across faster, harder, more progressive but most importantly catchier than ever before. Along all the usual fretboard-madness and blasting a lot of real popgrind-hooks have been added to the music. The lyrical metaphors are tough as always but the vocal lines are surprisingly catchy. SXE-HARDCORE. Continuing with the current wave of South-Korean hardcore which features bands like THE GEEKS and THIRTEEN STEPS are THINGS WE SAY who features Ki, vocalist of THE GEEKS, on bass. These 12 songs are energetic, fast, youth crew-inspired straight-edge hardcore with some melody, mosh, and positivity, taking cues from current bands THE FIRST STEP and BETRAYED and bands of yore like YOUTH OF TODAY and INSTED. TURN THE TIDE - What's behind these eyes (2007/COMMITMENT) 7" 4,- €
SXE-HARDCORE. TURN THE TIDE started out as a project when people involved in several other finish hardcore bands, decided it was time for a straight-edge band playing traditional hardcore in Finland again, as such a band had been lacking since the breakup of ON A SOLID ROCK. Although TURN THE TIDE take the inspiration for their sound clearly from the classic youth-crew bands, their sound also contains elements of melodic hardcore, with raw production adding an extra sting. Shouted by a voice that sometimes brings Ian MacKaye to mind, the lyrics on their debut 7" are reflections of everyday life and relations with other people: greed, love, self-confidence and personal choices and growth.
UNION TOWN - Demo 07 (2007/POWERED) 7"col 4,- €
HARDCORE-PUNK. UNION TOWN combining the sound of revolution summer-era DC (Dischord) bands and earlier rock 'n' roll and punk bands with roots planted firmly in dutch hardcore. Great melodic yet heartfelt and powerful hardcore-punk not unlike the ZERO BOYS or BLACK FLAG with a good dose of that typical early Dischord sound. UNION TOWN's demo quickly sold-out, but is now seeing the light of day on a one-time press colored vinyl 7". This record is a volatile mix of melody, power and emotion.
UP RIGHTS - Old school revenge (2007/COMMITMENT) 7" 4,- €
SXE-HARDCORE. Debut 7" of UP RIGHTS, a straight-edge band from Toulouse, France. UP RIGHTS is mainly inspired by the late 1990s wave of european straight-edge bands. They play a fine mix of fast, energetic and melodic old-school hardcore and couple it with a message of typical drug-free pride and positivity, while taking a stand against the evils of today's hardcore scene, like violent attitudes, fashion slavery and MySpace addicts.
VIOLENT ARREST - s/t (2007/DERANGED) 7" 4,50 €
HARDCORE. Their 2nd release features 10 new tracks of worshiping hardcore from three quarters of the former members of the U.K. 's original hardcore blasters RIPCORD and HERESY. VIOLENT ARREST burst forth with straight forward 80's hardcore by way of Boston (JERRY'S KIDS and SSD), rippling with the same urgency and controlled rage that brought about the original notoriety of these west coast thrashers. While on the topic, the VIOLENT ARREST CD is out, too - it compiles both their 12", this 7" and two bonus tracks. Good job by these chaps.
YOUTH OF TOGAY - The dongs we bury (2007/FNS) 7" 5,- €
HARDCORE. Leading the pack of a new generation of queer-hardcore bands, this Boston band hit the ground running with this boner popping 3 track 7" - with 2 rug-burning originals "Never going back" and "Tough gays", along with the much anticipated "The gaychinist" a parody of HAVE HEART's "The machinist". With every chord and lyric YOUTH OF TOGAY inject their unique and hilarious look at hardcore culture. This 7" puts them on the map with greats like GAYRILLA BISCUITS and LIMP WRIST. Never mincing words, and laughing all the way to the glory-hole, YOUTH OF TOGAY put "hard" back in hardcore.

Though it runs out of steam slightly (at least in comparison to the pop art brilliance of the band's best songs) on its 2nd half, "Bang bang rock and roll" is a terrific debut, and ART BRUT is smart, catchy, and fun - everything you could want in a band, even if they do sound like they formed 10 min. ago. This is a exclusive vinyl version with bonus an addition bonus track "These animal Menswe@r". Initial pressing is just 500 copies on coloured vinyl. For fans of FRANZ FERDINAND, MAXIMO PARK, ARCTIC MONKEYS etc.
CHIODOS - Bone palace ballet (2007/EQUAL VISION) LPcol 15,50 € / CD 12,50 €
POST-HARDCORE. CHIODOS is a six-member post-hardcore band from Davison, Michigan. Originally known as ''THE CHIODOS BROS.," the band's name was a nod to filmmakers Stephen, Charles, and Edward Chiodo, responsible for movies such as Killer Klowns From Outer Space. CHIODOS is combusting out of this plastic CD case. Diverse instrumental use, and a remarkable amount of easily marketable melodic metal. It's time to stop talking about this record and get back to listening. Hype achieved! Limited vinyl comes in color vinyl. Vinyl version includes "Bone palace ballet" CD and booklet.
EMERY - I'm only a man (2007/TOOTH AND NAIL) CD 14,- €
EMOCORE/INDIE-ROCK. "I'm only a man", the 3rd release from Seattle transplants EMERY, shows the band's musical growth and expertise, continuing with the formula that brought them to a national stage, as well as thrust them into stardom, with 11 pounding songs that run the gamut from emocore, rock, alt-country, jazz and innumerable other influences that the band has cited throughout their career. This trend setter is at it again with "I am only a man".

POST-PUNK. This is the first album of HOLIDAY FUN CLUB from sweden. 13 tracks (40 min.) with a rough mix of early wave-punk and modern post-punk tunes. HOLIDAY FUN CLUB sounds like a mixture of JOY DIVISION, DEVO and C.AARMÉ. Nobody play this kind of music better in this time as the 5 guys from Stockholm. The Sin City Circus Ladies are out to shake the flesh and bones of every witness in their path with a sinful sense of humor, on a mission from Planet Porn. Amen!

EMO-PUNK. Gainesville punk-rockers YOUNG LIVERS feature members of local heroes FIYA and GLASS AND ASHES and conjure up 8 tracks of high energy rock 'n' roll with gruff vocals and dual lead guitars. YOUNG LIVERS provide the groove of emo and flailings of early DRIVE LIKE JEHU with the gruff of traditional No Idea punk bands such as HOT WATER MUSIC. AKUTARE - Riot city (2007/SCHIZOPHRENIC) 7" 5,- €
HARDCORE. Schizophrenic Records yet again delivers an outstanding 1st release from a band being hailed as the most important new group to hit the streets of Tokyo. AKUTARE play a mixture of 80's era japanese hardcore with strong MOTÖRHEAD influences. "Riot city" delivers 4 strong willed, high energy songs with a driving, over the top, punk rock 'n' roll sound. ANIMOSITY - Animal (2007/METAL BLADE) CD 13,50 €
DEATHCORE. San Francisco's ANIMOSITY are a beast, playing technical metal with blasting drums, soloing lead guitars, and jazz-fusion inspired bass. Every album ANIMOSITY has shown growth, and "Animal" continues that promising path. They aren't at an elite level yet, but their musicianship continues to improve, as does their songwriting. The songs are mostly warp speed death-metal with grindcore and some metalcore influences. The blast beats fly nonstop, and the dual guitars range from standard riffs to fast and intricate fretwork. In addition to the really fast songs, ANIMOSITY adds some diversity by slowing things down with more chugging style guitar riffs and a nice groove. ANIMOSITY is well on their way to becoming a force in death-metal.
ARCH ENEMY - Rise of the tyrant (2007/CENTURY MEDIA) CD 13,50 €
DEATH-METAL. ARCH ENEMY's latest is "Rise of the tyrant", a fierce yet extremely catchy dose of melodic death-metal. The 11 songs on this album are really melodic, with great guitar work from Chris and Mike Amott. Their chemistry is evident, and even though the songs have great grooves and riffs, there is still plenty of heaviness and brutality. It's a dark and dynamic CD with plenty of diversity in both music and vocals. Angela Gossow gets better with each release, and her angry vocals are powerful and emotional. These Swedish metal masters claim to have created the ultimate ARCH ENEMY album!

Enter Boston's THE CONVERSIONS into the fray. HARDCORE. Anticipated 3rd full-length by these canadian road warriors. They came out of nowhere with a fresh sound, stuck to it for their 2nd album, and turned up the filthy rock influences on this 3rd. Holy MOTÖRHEAD worship! These Canadians play yet again some rockin' material with a pretty major set of influences drawn from Lemmy and company. More biker-rock, less d-beat. Still the same old band though. Great production as usual, characteristic artwork, and a solid release. All in all it's the perfect follow-up to "City weapons". The guitars push you on and the bass totally drives it. It's dirty, it's ripping, and it's everything that you wanted it to be. If you liked both previous releases you won't be disappointed in this one.
INKED IN BLOOD - Sometimes we are beautiful (2007/FACEDOWN) CD 12,50 €

TURN THE TIDE - What's behind these eyes (2007/COMMITMENT) 7" 4,- €
SXE-HARDCORE. TURN THE TIDE started out as a project when people involved in several other finish hardcore bands, decided it was time for a straight-edge band playing traditional hardcore in Finland again, as such a band had been lacking since the breakup of ON A SOLID ROCK. Although TURN THE TIDE take the inspiration for their sound clearly from the classic youth-crew bands, their sound also contains elements of melodic hardcore, with raw production adding an extra sting. Shouted by a voice that sometimes brings Ian MacKaye to mind, the lyrics on their debut 7" are reflections of everyday life and relations with other people: greed, love, self-confidence and personal choices and growth.

SXE-HARDCORE. Debut 7" of UP RIGHTS, a straight-edge band from Toulouse, France. UP RIGHTS is mainly inspired by the late 1990s wave of european straight-edge bands. They play a fine mix of fast, energetic and melodic old-school hardcore and couple it with a message of typical drug-free pride and positivity, while taking a stand against the evils of today's hardcore scene, like violent attitudes, fashion slavery and MySpace addicts.
VIOLENT ARREST - s/t (2007/DERANGED) 7" 4,50 €
HARDCORE. Their 2nd release features 10 new tracks of worshiping hardcore from three quarters of the former members of the U.K. 's original hardcore blasters RIPCORD and HERESY. VIOLENT ARREST burst forth with straight forward 80's hardcore by way of Boston (JERRY'S KIDS and SSD), rippling with the same urgency and controlled rage that brought about the original notoriety of these west coast thrashers. While on the topic, the VIOLENT ARREST CD is out, too - it compiles both their 12", this 7" and two bonus tracks. Good job by these chaps.
YOUTH OF TOGAY - The dongs we bury (2007/FNS) 7" 5,- €
HARDCORE. Leading the pack of a new generation of queer-hardcore bands, this Boston band hit the ground running with this boner popping 3 track 7" - with 2 rug-burning originals "Never going back" and "Tough gays", along with the much anticipated "The gaychinist" a parody of HAVE HEART's "The machinist". With every chord and lyric YOUTH OF TOGAY inject their unique and hilarious look at hardcore culture. This 7" puts them on the map with greats like GAYRILLA BISCUITS and LIMP WRIST. Never mincing words, and laughing all the way to the glory-hole, YOUTH OF TOGAY put "hard" back in hardcore.

POST-HARDCORE. CHIODOS is a six-member post-hardcore band from Davison, Michigan. Originally known as ''THE CHIODOS BROS.," the band's name was a nod to filmmakers Stephen, Charles, and Edward Chiodo, responsible for movies such as Killer Klowns From Outer Space. CHIODOS is combusting out of this plastic CD case. Diverse instrumental use, and a remarkable amount of easily marketable melodic metal. EMOCORE/INDIE-ROCK.
