BLACK-METAL. COBALT is a two-piece Black-Metal band hailing from the United States. They have a surprisingly full and polished sound that sets them apart from other Black Metal bands. "Eater of birds" is the band's second full-length. COBALT does allow for breathing from the usual Metal onslaught that they unleash by interspersing acoustic pieces that at times are accompanied by ambient sounds, disconcerting noises and creepy vocals (guest vocals from Jarboe (SWANS etc., also collaborated

The GENTLE ART OF CHOKIN returns with a new guitar player and an onslaught of 13 new tunes in less than 12 minutes. Starting off with a torpedo-like Thrash attack they’ re well known for, they leave the caved Fastcore-path every now and then, turning into more complex riffing and casual heavy breakdowns, just followed by their established hacksaw stop and go blast-parts. The stripped-down, synth-and-guitar Indiepop on this oddly spellbinding second album from Los Angeles singer-songwriter Jeremy Jay could be the CARS minus the dreams of chart glory and bloated studio budget. Jay's sleepy yelp suggests an attempt to seem cool and sexy, but he can't quite pull it off, coming across instead as repressed, and a little creepy. Still, his quietly unsettling aura perfectly suits these childlike love songs: Not many people could sing, "Sometimes we gallop over moonbeams / Giddy-up, horsey, giddy-up" with such unironic, persuasive conviction.
