If the album’s second track, “The Economy is Suffering… Let It Die,” isn’t nearly as reckless, it’s just as impassioned, as Justin Sane (vocals & guitar) weighs in on the government bailouts of 2008, asking “Where are all the bailouts for the homeless and the poor?” It’s just the sort of question bands like Anti-Flag were born to ask. CASTING OUT, THE - Go crazy! Throw fireworks! LP/CD 11.90/11.90 EUR

POP-PUNK. The CASTING OUT is the new band of Nathan Gray, the ex-singer of BOYSETSFIRE. BSF was a political, kind of Hardcore band, but what the CASTING OUT offer here on their first full-length is no political Hardcore stuff. With lyrics dealing with personal struggle and experiences, we're far from there, but in this case, it's better that way. There's a really good balance of fast, more Punkrock songs like "Walk away" and Pop-Punk songs like "These alterations." One thing that draws your attention is how good the guitar work is here. Even on the poppiest track, there's always a little solo or an interesting riff and it's different on each song. This is not your typical PopPunk record - the songs are all good, with some better than others, and musically, it's always interesting. The ballad ''The ebbing of the tide'' might be a little boring at the beginning but the end is epic as hell. This is what Pop-Punk should be. It's catchy, it's fast, the guitars are great and the vocals fit the music perfectly. The lyrics are personal but never cliched or whiny. So if you're looking for non-commercial Pop-Punk and you like harder things like DAG NASTY and BOUNCING SOULS, give this band a listen; you won't regret it!! (2009/DIY)

HARDCORE-PUNK. DESTINO FINAL from Barcelona started out called INVASION in 2004 and after several line up changes they finally put out their releases on La Vida Es Un Mus in the last two years. After their USA tour in 2008 there were some more line up changes, so they decided to change the name of the band into DESTINO FINAL. Apart from that, little has changed. "Atrapados" is an 9 track album of feedback and reverb drenched Hardcore-Punk. PUNK. Les HATEPINKS sont mortes, vives les HATEPINKS! Aware that they couldn't ride the high pony forever, the French maitres of Oupupo-Punk just decided to cut the rope and burn out the whole thing in just the right way. Of course they do it with a bang by putting out this grande legacy in form of this final plate with 18 songs,
recorded perfectly live in late January 2009 in the Stork Club in Oakland on their US (and, at the same time their final) tour. What they are leaving us here is a fine choice of their best songs and some covers too, among them ''Electrocute your cock'' by VOM. From the opener ''Tupperware love'' to other hits like ''Sick cake'', ''Bored of pills'', ''City of the pig'' (dedicated to San Francisco) and ''Do the hateswing'', right to the swan song ''Eisbär'' (originally by GRAUZONE and presented wiz dad sexy german accent) the HATEPINKS demonstrate one more time that their kind of '77 Punkrock has always been snottier than a horny dog's snout and is played drier than a mouth full of cotton. HELLSHOCK was formed in 2001-02 in Portland, Oregon and include members from great crust legends such as DETESTATION, REMAINS OF THE DAY,REACT etc. They have released several EPs's, a split 10"/CD wityh EFFIGY, and two full-lengths ("Only the dead know the end of war" and "Shadows of the afterworld") blending in their Crust the influences from MISERY, AMEBIX, ANTISECT and the likes with Metal influences coming from 80's Metal bands such as HELLHAMMER. "Ghosts of the past" was originally released as a demo tape with recordings from 2002 and it consists a bunch of heavy midpaced metallic Crust with emotional riffs, nice leading guitars, slow/midpaced drums and gruff vocals. An excellent demo for those who like midpacedmetallic Crust.
