HARDCORE. Like most young Hardcore bands of today, C.O.P.’s sophomore release shows us a faster, more intense and musically complicated band that has gotten better with time. The lyrics have matured and they have shed the catchiness of the first EP to bring a brutal slab of SoCal Hardcore. Take the Nardcore sound of their first EP and the rapid-fire precision of POISON IDEA’s "Pick Your King" and you have the new C.O.P. 7". Although the songs are faster, tighter, and angrier, each song stands out, definitely not another Hardcore record that sounds like one long song. POWER-VIOLENCE. Finally, the long awaited re-issue of a monumental release from two legendary Powerviolence bands. Released in 1994 in a short run of 1,200 copies, this mighty piece of molten vinyl showcases two of the leaders of the Powerviolence retaliation at the height of their songwriting powers. This release marked the debut of Andy Beattie (NO COMMENT) on vocals for MITB and the band slays with political, unerring power. CAPITALIST CASUALTIES lay down 13 tracks of unbreakable Hardcore Thrash, intense politics and seething disgust for humanity. After 15 years, both bands decided it was time to get this back into print, completely true to the original release, highlighted by killer cut and paste art by Jeff Whiplash (CC) and pressed from the original plates. PUNK. Once again Flat Black is branching out from the SoCal Hardcore that they usually release. CAT PARTY’s first full-length comes to us after an impressive debut EP and split 7" and displays a sound that reflects the gloomy hypnotism of bands like The WIPERS or JOY DIVISION. This also has some great guitar work that not only resonates with a Greg Sage influence but hints of early CHRISTIAN DEATH can be found in the guitar playing. The vocals have that classically cool vibe of greats like Rik L. Rik with a solid rhythm section holding it all together and giving the tunes a nice backbeat. Whatever tags you want to put on it; Post-Punk, NEW WAVE or PUNK, it doesn’t matter, they seamlessly bring together some of the best elements in music and bring a sound that is Cat Party. PUNK-ROCK. The RIVERDALES were a short-lived group formed by Ben Foster and Dan Sullivan, both formerly of SCREECHING WEASEL, in 1995. The RIVERDALES displayed a heavy RAMONES-influence musically, lyrically, and visually. Originally described by Ben as being a "golden oldies-type band with some RAMONES touches".
