A.N.S. - Pressure cracks CD 10.90 EUR
HARDCORE. A.N.S. from Texas are one of the most killer punk/crossover bands out there. After two albums and a dozen or so splits and EP's, they've produced their most focused (and best) material to date on "Pressure cracks", the 3rd album from this prolific Hardcore band. The heaviest influences are common, but maybe A.N.S. grab from less obvious albums, combining here a killer blend of the "professional Hardcore" of "Feel the darkness" era POISON IDEA, the drugged out heavy Metal / Classic Rock influenced Punk of "My war" and beyond BLACK FLAG, plus the high energy crossover Thrash of "Lights, Camera, Revolution" era SUICIDAL TENDENCIES. PUNK/INDIEROCK. Vinyl available ca. 09.10.2009. "Crash love," AFI's eighth full-length studio album, is indeed informed not only by the ever-evolving chemistry between the musicians in the band but also by the members' personal lives and perhaps most of all by the always intense relationship between AFI and its fans. While "Crash love" is the first AFI record to feature such prevalent sociopolitical and observational perspectives, the darkly personal AFI lyrical strain is distinctly present on standout tracks like "Medicate" and its stark portrait of a user/enabler relationship, as well as throughout the ill fated death ride scenario of "End transmission". Elsewhere, the newer approach shines on the self-explanatory "Darling I want to destroy you", "Veronica Sawyer smokes" with couples Jade Puget's Smiths-esque guitar signatures with a tale of heartbreak brought on by disappointment with a teen idol, "Beautiful thieves" with its privileged characters whose actions carry no consequences and "Too shy to scream" which sets yearning, distanced adorations against the backdrop of a drumline-inspired shuffle propelled by Hunter Burgan's bass and Adam Carson's drumming. HARDCORE. This Vegan Straight Edge HC band from Sweden is back with 4 brand new songs. This new 7" is following their "The quiet dance" full length."Relations of violence" brings a darker, but also more intenseapproach to what the band has done before. There's still a strong 90's hardcore influence in there, but we can definitely also hear some influences from the best cuts of Swedish hardcore-punk history (like ANTI-CIMEX) or recent dark heavier bands like CURSED. PUNK. It really is amazing that all 4 bands either had a song or were recording a new song and that this all came together as quickly as it did. The IN THE RED track, "Here we all die" was from a session in between the recordings of Volume 1 and Volume 2. As you might guess, the sound fits somewhere in between, too. PUNK. 4 Tracks of blistering '84 styled hardcore from these punk veterans. Members played with the FREEZE at their first show in 1979, and have been tearing it up ever since. BLACK FORK - First fork years LP 10.90 EUR
PUNK. "First fork years" is a collection of 23 songs from all of BLACK FORK's (now) out of print 7" EPs, compilation tracks, as well as unreleased demo tracks recorded at 924 Gilman by Marshall Stax (Blatz) back in the 1990s. BLACK FORK is a punk band from the East Bay, CA, that played mostly during the years 1993-'97. In 1995, an LP had been recorded, but due to a series of setbacks, the songs were divided into two EPs and released on labels that almost immediately folded. There is also a split 7" with comrades-in-arms Los Canadians, as well as tracks on various compilations, including Recess Records' "Play at Your Own Risk Vol 2.", Zafio's "This is the East Bay...", Lookout!/Kill Rock Stars' "A Slice of Lemon" and Very Small Records' "Wood Panel Pacer Wagon". BALCK FORK was best known for the intensity of its live show, which always left both band and audience close to deaf and soaked in a hot vapor of sweat and liquor-swill. PUNK. Shawn Foree, better known as DIGITAL LEATHER, grew up on a Baha'i hippie commune in southern Arizona. As soon as he could, he left and started college to buy a 4-track tape recorder with some of his student loan money. Pretty soon after, he lost interest in school and opted instead to mess with synthesizers and old guitars. His second year of school he says he only left his apartment to go to class, the rest of the time was spent taking acid and recording. Soon after, DIGITAL LEATHER was touring the US and Europe with various lineups. "Warm brother" is the band’s first proper studio record, even after full-length releases from Goner, FDH and Tic Tac Totally. HARDCORE. Finally a collection LP of possibly the shortest lived band ever to come out of NJ. From the remains of such NJ bands as DOWN IN FLAMES, DEGENERICS, SCARTLET LETTER, KZ managed to squeeze out an LP and 7" plus one comp track as well as go out on tour, all within the dirty hot summer of 2003. All collected recordings are remastered and spit onto wax for a whole new generation to experience the fury and frenzy of what KAMIKAZE was all about. This is the way hardcore music should be played! POST-HARDCORE. The explosive debut 12" EP from Santa Rosa, CA’s LITANY FOR THE WHALE, which is comprised of members of LOGS and QUERENCIA. On "Dolores", this young four-piece exploit a gruffer take on heavy music, with a chaotic and complex mix of noisy Hardcore, Metal and Post-Rock elements, for fans of PG.99, CIRCLE TAKES THE SQUARE, ENVY, etc. Their 23-minute, 7-song EP was recorded at Prairie Sun Studios in Cotati, CA with mastering handled by Carl Saff. After their debut EP, "Chorus of one", was released, STRIKE ANYWHERE teamed up with Jade Tree which issued "Change is a sound" in August 2001. The release of "Exit english" followed in 2003, and the rarities collection "To live in discontent" in January 2005. A.N.S. - Pressure cracks CD 10.90 EUR
HARDCORE. A.N.S. from Texas are one of the most killer punk/crossover bands out there. After two albums and a dozen or so splits and EP's, they've produced their most focused (and best) material to date on "Pressure cracks", the 3rd album from this prolific Hardcore band. The heaviest influences are common, but maybe A.N.S. grab from less obvious albums, combining here a killer blend of the "professional Hardcore" of "Feel the darkness" era POISON IDEA, the drugged out heavy Metal / Classic Rock influenced Punk of "My war" and beyond BLACK FLAG, plus the high energy crossover Thrash of "Lights, Camera, Revolution" era SUICIDAL TENDENCIES. "Crash love," AFI's eighth full-length studio album, is indeed informed not only by the ever-evolving chemistry between the musicians in the band but also by the members' personal lives and perhaps most of all by the always intense relationship between AFI and its fans. While "Crash love" is the first AFI record to feature such prevalent sociopolitical and observational perspectives, the darkly personal AFI lyrical strain is distinctly present on standout tracks like "Medicate" and its stark portrait of a user/enabler relationship, as well as throughout the ill fated death ride scenario of "End transmission". "First fork years" is a collection of 23 songs from all of BLACK FORK's (now) out of print 7" EPs, compilation tracks, as well as unreleased demo tracks recorded at 924 Gilman by Marshall Stax (Blatz) back in the 1990s. BLACK FORK is a punk band from the East Bay, CA, that played mostly during the years 1993-'97. In 1995, an LP had been recorded, but due to a series of setbacks, the songs were divided into two EPs and released on labels that almost immediately folded. There is also a split 7" with comrades-in-arms Los Canadians, as well as tracks on various compilations, including Recess Records' "Play at Your Own Risk Vol 2.", Zafio's "This is the East Bay...", Lookout!/Kill Rock Stars' "A Slice of Lemon" and Very Small Records' "Wood Panel Pacer Wagon". BALCK FORK was best known for the intensity of its live show, which always left both band and audience close to deaf and soaked in a hot vapor of sweat and liquor-swill. PUNK. Shawn Foree, better known as DIGITAL LEATHER, grew up on a Baha'i hippie commune in southern Arizona. As soon as he could, he left and started college to buy a 4-track tape recorder with some of his student loan money. Pretty soon after, he lost interest in school and opted instead to mess with synthesizers and old guitars. His second year of school he says he only left his apartment to go to class, the rest of the time was spent taking acid and recording. Soon after, DIGITAL LEATHER was touring the US and Europe with various lineups. "Warm brother" is the band’s first proper studio record, even after full-length releases from Goner, FDH and Tic Tac Totally. POST-HARDCORE. The explosive debut 12" EP from Santa Rosa, CA’s LITANY FOR THE WHALE, which is comprised of members of LOGS and QUERENCIA. On "Dolores", this young four-piece exploit a gruffer take on heavy music, with a chaotic and complex mix of noisy Hardcore, Metal and Post-Rock elements, for fans of PG.99, CIRCLE TAKES THE SQUARE, ENVY, etc. Their 23-minute, 7-song EP was recorded at Prairie Sun Studios in Cotati, CA with mastering handled by Carl Saff. Stark, haunting artwork for the record was created by Chris Taylor (PG.99) to match the equally dark nature of the recording.
