HARDCORE. AMERICAN SIXGUN formed in April 2009. Over the next three weeks ASG wrote and recorded the demos that would become "The Devil In Your Bones". ASG sent the demos out to a few A&R and one month later they were signed to Eulogy Recordings. Two weeks after that the band was invited to perform for a month on the Vans Warped Tour as a variety band along side other cross over tastes like Shooter Jennings and The Gallows. While on Warped ASG made fans in a variety of genres chanting "Fuck 3oh3 and Millionaires" everyday from stage. BLACK DIAMOND HEAVIES - Alive as fuck LP 13.90 EUR

GARAGE. Limited coloured. Recorded live on a hot-ass night of July the 24th 2009 at Dr. Johnny Walker's (Soledad Brothers / Cut In the Hill Gang) flat in Covington, Kentucky, this is the BLACK DIAMOND HEAVIES absolutely live and kicking out the jam Southern style. With a sound that's blues-rooted but steeped in STOOGES sludge, the HEAVIES' cranky, cranked-up sets burn black as tire fires. Stylistically, BDH is often lumped in with R.L. BURNSIDE and TOM WAITS. That's a fine place to start, but the comparison misses the band's joy and boogie. Instead, think 'Exile on Main Street' recorded in HOWLIN' WOLF's casket. Nothing smooth or clean here. Just eight-bar skronk in bad need of a tetanus shot. The album is a vinyl only release. (2009/ALIVE)

GARAGE. BLACK DIAMOND HEAVIES are a two-piece consisting of John Wesley Myers on bass keys, Fender Rhodes piano, organ, and vocals (left hand of rhythm, right hand of soul) and Van Campbell completing the lineup on drums and vocals. A family pedigree that has Myers' father a Baptist preacher and Campbell coming from a family of bourbon distillers (seriously, "Old Rip Van Winkle"), the HEAVIES are about nothing but pounding out their raucous Punk take on the blues and soul, southern style. The BLACK JASPERS are KING KHAN (KING KHAN & BBQ, SHRINES, etc.) and JASPER HOOD (MOORAT FINGERS) getting together for an exercise in lowest common denominator, lowest fidelity Punk stupidity imaginable. The BLACK JASPERS have been playing on and off since 2000 but are only just now getting around to releasing some of their recordings. This debut album was recorded in 2001 and has sat in King Khan's vaults aging like a fine wine ever since. Not until now has the King decided to unleash this record on the public. Twelve tracks of retardation inspired by the likes of the ANGRY SAMOANS, ELECTRIC EELS, MENTALLY ILL, and any of the dumbest Killed By Death tracks you care to name. PUNK. GRAY MATTER officially formed in the summer of 1983 but Geoff Turner, Mark Haggerty and Dante Ferrando had been playing in bands since their early middle school days. By early 1983, Dante and Mark were playing in IRON CROSS, but when when the band's image began to reflect it's supporters more than the members themselves, Dante quit. Soon after Mark also left and the two reunited with Geoff and IRON CROSS roadie Steve Niles and started playing shows around Washington, DC as GRAY MATTER. The “Take it back” EP, released in September 1986, was recorded in the immediate afterglow of Revolution Summer and features that era’s raw melodic energy contained only by GRAY MATTER’s impeccable song craft. Songs are still fast but real tight and much more catchy and hard hitting, as if they were listening to a lot of GAUZE as much as later POISON IDEA and RKL which is the biggest influence this band has. POST-PUNK. PANGEA return to vinyl! This time with their debut (4 Song) EP, and boy have they cranked it up a few notches since the split with HARVEST MOON SOCIETY in 2007. PANGEA has progressed from a (typically acoustic) two-piece, to a full, five-piece electric wall of sound. Quite different then their previous releases, and I mean this in a nothing but positive way. The production value on this is amazingly loud, powerful, and bursting with energy. Personally bringing to mind bands like early PERE UBU and WIRE, this record is charged to the brink with catchy melodies you won't be able to get out of your head if you tried. PORTRAITS OF PAST - Cypress dust witch MLP 10.90 EUR

Hardcore. PORTRAITS OF PAST formed around 1994 in the San Francisco Bay Area and parted ways at the end of 1995. During their short-lived career, the band released a split 7", several tracks on various compilations and most notably a self-titled LP that has been commonly cited as one of the most influential Post-Hardcore albums. In August of 2008, PORTRAITS OF PAST resurfaced and performed a couple of shows, two in San Francisco/Oakland and three in New York City. Fans traveled from all over the country and overseas to celebrate the band's reunion. In 2009, the band had several more performances including the Burning Fight book release festival in California, Indianapolis' Dude Fest and a tour in Japan. The band also recorded new songs, 4 of them resulting in "Cypress dust witch". (2009/EXCURSIONS INTO THE ABYSS)

Shannon has a voice that can go from a sweet girl group croon to a bluesy ballsy growl before you realize you're headed for the floor.
