HARDCORE. “Fort Orange” is the second full-length by this three-piece from Albany/New York. 13 solid songs in a style that doesn´t go out of date. Powerfull melodic Hardcore, technically proficient combined with distinctive vocals is AFTER THE FALL's concept on „Fort Orange“. Songs like "Macho bullshit“ and "It's her choice“ also prove that AFTER THE FALL's attitude is far away from beeing meaningless and dull. DOOM-HARDCORE/SLUDGE. Original release in 2005, the split LP by doom heavyweights GRAVES AT SEA and ASUNDER was immediately hailed as the greatest Doom split LP of all time. It captures both bands at their pinnacle and in fact turned out to be the swan song for the revered GRAVES AT SEA. The original Twenty Buck Spin vinyl release, featuring the captivating artwork of David D'Andrea, sold out within a few months. GRAVES AT SEA's side features the two strongest and well produced tunes they unleashed in their short lifespan. "Pariah" is one of the best, heaviest Doom tracks ever recorded, with its warm wall of down-tuned Orange amplification, lumbering pace, and black-bile vokillz; "Reclamation" is another ten-minute marathon of treacherous, monolithic riffs and banshee screams. ASUNDER's track, "Whited sepulcher," came as the immediate follow-up to their stunning, landmark ''A Clarion Call'' album, widely recognized as their most essential work. HARDCORE-PUNK. MARGINAL MAN was formed in 1983 after the break-up of ARTIFICIAL PEACE, a seminal DC Hardcore-Punk band. Featuring former AP members Steve Polcari, Pete Murray, and Mike Manos, and joined with Kenny Inouye and Andre Lee, MARGINAL MAN released one EP (''Identity''), and two LPs (''Double Image'' and ''Marginal Man''), along with a couple of appearances on compilations (Alive and Kicking, and State of the Union).“Identity” was recorded in 1983 by Ian MacKaye and Don Zientara at Inner Ear Studios and was originally released as a 12” EP in 1984. Although “Identity” was re-issued on CD in 1997 the vinyl has been out of print for many years. CRUST-HARDCORE. PASSIV DÖDSHJÄLP, completely out of the blue, blew me away with their debut CD last year which clearly demonstrated that these Swedes were indeed able to write some 'catchy' crust tunes. Although you could clearly point out their influences, their songwriting ability and the way they incorporated dismal metallic tunes into traditional D-Beat structures was simply captivating. Fast forward a couple of months, I got their new split 7" with Bergen, Norway's LLIVSTID and I can safely say that Gävle's finest has managed to outstrip the quality of their debut. The record, which contains 3 songs from PASSIV DÖDSHJÄLP, is barely under 15 minutes and its length is perfect for those who prefer their Crust-Punk as short and direct as possible. PUNK. The READYMADES were one of the most influential West Coast Punk and New Wave Bands. Produced by Sandy Pearlman (The Clash "Give 'em enough Rope") and courted by Jon Cale of VELVET UNDERGROUND. Their single "Electric toys" was the only independent record to be in regular rotation on KSAN who also broadcast a live half hour of their music. They played with BLONDOE, PATTIE SMITH, NICO, Nico, STRANGKLERS, THE POLICE, TALKING HEADS, ROXY MUSIC and DEVO amoung others at such venues as the Cow Palace, Oakland Coliseum, Starwood, Winterland and the Mabuhay. It's best to tell the READYMADES story through quotes from the press. Starting in 1977 and ending in 1979. This anthology contains all their recordings, studio unreleased, demos and more.
