Nachdem der legendäre Club in New York 2006 geschlossen wurde, steht aktuell die Marke CBGB's zum Verkauf.
Die WebSite cbcNews berichtet:
"CBGB, the name long associated with the New York nightclub that fostered early punk rock music, is for sale.
A bankruptcy judge ruled Wednesday that CBGB founder Hillel (Hilley) Kristal is rightful owner of the club's assets, including its name. Kristal died in 2007.
Lawyers for the Kristal estate are looking for buyers, but say their clients want an offer that would be "best for the brand and Hilley's legacy," according to the Wall Street Journal.
The club, begun by Kristal in 1973, was named CBGB for "country, bluegrass and blues" - the kind of music he thought would be played at the club - but became a haven for the early new wave and punk scene of the 1970s and '80s.
It was a performance venue for acts such as the Ramones, Patti Smith, Blondie and the Talking Heads, before closing in 2006.
After it closed, two marketing executives bought the property and rights to the name, and created a new firm called CBGB Holdings. That firm filed for bankruptcy in June without fully paying, and has been in a legal dispute with Kristal's heirs over settling the payments.
The bankruptcy court ruling returns the rights to name to the Kristal estate, who are again ready to sell it."
