DARKEST ERA - Update zu Albumaufnahmen

... die Heavy Metal-Band aus Nordirland und einer der aktuellsten Zugänge im Metal Blade Stall, haben kürzlich die Arbeiten an ihrem neuen Album, das auf den Namen The Last Caress of Light hören wird, abgeschlossen!
"It is with great pleasure that we announce we have finished work on our debut album; to be titled The Last Caress of Light. The album is a work of dark, stormy, epic heavy metal that we are proud to release upon the world. Chris Fielding did a fantastic job in capturing the Celtic atmosphere of our songs while bringing out our heavy metal influences from bands like Warlord. We are very excited about it", erzählt Sänger Krum. Gitarrist Sarah Wieghell ergänzt: "It has been an incredible experience recording our debut album for Metal Blade, the songs came out better than even we were expecting. I think we've made a really strong record to be proud of, I can't wait for people to hear it!"

DARKEST ERA formierten sich Mitte 2005 unter dem Namen "Nemesis". Bereits bei der ersten Probe entstand das erste Stück "Battle of Cul Dreimne". Der Song wies unabsichtlich einen keltischen Touch auf, was fortan das Songwriting der Band bestimmen sollte. Beeinflusst von frühen Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy und Irish Folk, erschien im Jahre 2006 das selbstbetitelte Nemesis-Demo. Diese Ansammlung roher, energiereicher, von Twin-Gitarren angetriebenen Songs verschaffte ihnen erste Aufmerksamkeit im europäischen Metal-Underground.
Im April 2007 entschied sich die Band, ihren Namen in DARKEST ERA zu ändern, da zu viele andere Formationen unter Nemesis firmierten und sie selbst ihre Neuausrichtung im Songwriting deutlich machen wollten. Einflüsse aus den Bereichen Doom, Black und Pagan Metal haben sich im Sound der Truppe breit gemacht und ihr einen dunkleren, epischeren Anstrich verpasst.
Im Winter 2007 begaben sich die Musiker ins Studio und nahmen die 4-Song-Debüt-EP The Journey Through Damnation auf. Im Februar 2008 folgte ein Deal beim deutschen Label Eyes Like Snow, das die EP weltweit vertrieb. Danach begann die Band ihren internationalen Aufstieg mit einigen äußerst erfolgreichen Festivalgigs auf dem deutschen Fist Held High, dem griechischen Up the Hammers und dem italienischen Made in Hell.
Im März 2010 brachte die Band in Eigenregie ein limitiertes Digipak namens The Oaks Sessions heraus, das drei Songs enthielt und einmal mehr das Interesse des europäischen Undergrounds weckte und darüber hinaus für neue Fans in Australien und Nordamerika sorgte.
Mit ihrer in ganz Europa bekannten Stärke für intensive, wilde Liveauftritte und ihren originellen Sound zwischen Pagan, Folk und True Metal sind DARKEST ERA endgültig bereit dazu, ihren episch-keltischen Metal in die Welt hinaus zu tragen.
