And another “label special” , this time it’s EARACHE RECORDS, those
guys cleaned their old warehouse and found some long out of print
releases…
We asked them kindly and they sent us all records they found, and they
told us there is more in another storage, so we expect to get more
soon…
So, all the earache releases in this list are original pressings, and
due to the fact that it all stuck in some warehouse for years, some of
the covers ( pitchshifter “remix war”, the haunted ) have some scars but
most covers and all records are in absolute top condition …
In this list you’ll find all the releases we never had before, but we
also restocked some that was sold out very quick after we first got
them:

7“
HAL AL SHEDAD "the symbol of sound progress" 7" (auto stop records -
The sophmore hal al shedad 7" - two tracks both of which are exclusive to
this track of hal's circus lupus meets david bowie inspired sound.)
4.00
KURSK/DEFEATIST split 7" (level plane - Fantastic new split 7" from
Kursk and Defeatist. This record is full-on, unrelenting, grinding
hardcore. Kursk hail from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada and are a new band for me
to work with. Having already released a debut 7" EP, these 2 tracks
continue their rampage with sickening, brutal vocals, non-stop, propulsive
drumming and twisted, off-kilter guitar lines. Brad, their drummer, was
also a former member of Head Hits Concrete and their sound does make
reference to other Canadian hardcore beasts (Uranus, One-Eyed God).
Defeatist come storming out of the gates with their first release and drop 4
tracks of blistering grindcore. With members having formerly be in
Kalibas and Anodyne, they only sacrifice the speed of their fury when
transitioning into more deliberate and technical passages. Think the
headfuck of Anodyne mixed with the brutality of early Napalm Death. This 7" is
an absolute rager.) 4.50
NATIVE NOD "introducing...zither music" 7" (gern balndsten - If
"screamo" is a valid musical genre, then Native Nod are its Rolling Stones.
Check out this groundbreaking 7" EP! This is Chris Leo´s (Van Pelt, the
Lapse) first band) 4.50
OLD TIME RELIJUN the tightest cage 7" (k records - Old Time Relijun
tempts us with top-secret, sneak preview alternate mixes of songs from the
upcoming K album "Catharsis and Crisis". "The Tightest Cage" rattles to
the breaking point, spilling over into the wilderness of undiscovered
sound. Side Two contains a dubbed-out instrumental version of
"Indestructible Life" that will grace your dancehalls with a filthy hurricane
wreckage that can never be cleaned.) 5.00
RICHARD SWIFT kisses for the misses 7" (secretly canadian - This is the
debut single from Richard Swift's new full-length Dressed Up For the
Letdown for which Mojo had the following to say: "FOUR STARS. It's not
stringently retro, more a Tin Pan Alley of the Imagination." The A-side
is pure Swift -- a piano-driven pop tune sung with the moxie of a
wizened songsmith. "So come on, love, nobody wants to see you cry," he sings.
"All of your heartbreak has been sung." It's three minutes of wonder
that takes you back thirty-five years to a classic era of smart L.A. pop
music. Which makes the B-side so interesting, as it's Swift's sublime
take on Prince's "Paisley Park" that jumps ahead a generation to cover
the Purple One's late-80s under-appreciated gem. The second offering on
the two-tune B-side is an ethereal tumbleweed of a number called
"Cowboy Song #6". A Swift-penned out-take from the Dressed Up sessions,
"Cowboy Song #6" finds Swift strumming his guitar, waiting for his train to
come in, in whatever fashion it may take.) 5.00
XIU XIU/ WS BURN split 7“ (stickfigure - XIU XIU and W-S Burn combine
for a beautiful split 7” recording. Xiu Xiu gives fans a brand new
exclusive track “mean, childish and boring” while W-S Burn woo listeners
with the beautiful “above the fray”. Mastered by Carl Saff. The cover
artwork is absolutely gorgeous as well.) 4.50
LP
THE ASSEMBLE HEAD IN SUNBURST SOUND Ekranoplan LP (tee pee - Like a
lost Fillmore broadcast scrambled in the ionosphere before crashing
meteor-like into the Mojave sand—the Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound funnels
a Technicolor panorama of California rock and roll history into
soulful, high-energy nuggets of contemporary, bluesy choogle n’ fuzz and
wistful moonbase laments. Born in San Francisco in the dim dawn light of the
new millennium, The Assemble Head In Sunburst Sound is built around a
core of three musicians, Jefferson Marshall, Sunburst 3 (M.I.K.E.
Lardas) and Charlie Saufley, who stumbled upon each other from divergent
experiences in funk platter dealing, heavy space pop brewing, noise punk
scrambling and a shared love of raga, Mudhoney and Pink Floyd.) 17.50
BLACK COBRA bestial LP (at al loss – blue vinyl. Black Cobra is a duo
that is the product of four years of work between Jason (ex cavity) and
Rafael (ex -16-). Both individuals are originally from Miami, Florida
and Black Cobra formed due to both individuals visiting parents during
holiday breaks. Eventually this resulted in trading riffs through the
mail and sporadic visits to each others residences. 2006 finally sees the
release of this eleven song goliath entitled “bestial”! As Aaron
Burgess for AP wrote: this is “like karp with Jupiter size balls and swords
for teeth”.) 12.00
BLACK LIPS „los valientes de... „ LP (Jeeez! The LIPS with a totally
loud show in front of a bunch of mexicans that just went nuts!! You need
to see the great pics in the booklet!! Viva Tijuana!! 12 tracks in
great soundquality, my fave Tijuana donkey zebras with em on the picture &
a testament of why we all love this band so much!) 14.00
CAPRICORNS same LP (rise above - Capricorns - 'Self Titled' Ep. Limited
Edition, Black Vinyl Only 12inch Ep! Here it is; the debut from this
much talked about uk post metal dronescape crew - Capricorns! Boasting
members from such cult luminaries as Iron Monkey, Orange Goblin, Dukes Of
Nothing & Bridge & Tunnel, Capricorns serve up three pummelling
darkened epic tunes that will leave you craving for more.) 16.00
THE CHASM the spell of retribution LP (wicked witch records Haunting
the underground for years, The Chasm finally get their big break thanks
for Earache, and 'The Spell Of Retribution' is the ultimate Chasm
statement thus far. Pure occult death with progressive aspects but solidly
within the realm of the darkest, deepest, heaviest metal of death.)
11.00
CEPHALIC CARNAGE xenosapien LP (relapse records - The incomparable
Cephalic Carnage have returned to claim their place as the leaders of
metal's new era of extremity with their ferocious new record Xenosapien.
Cephalic Carnage synthesize everything great about metal, from spastic
virtuosity to warp-speed grinding to the heaviest rock riffs ever
unleashed. Xenosapien's mind-bending, technical insanity/mastery collides
head on with the band's brutal metal roots to form their most immediate,
hard-hitting, and finest album to date. Xenosapien is unquestionably one
of the best heavy records of 2007, and proves once and for all that
these unconventional visionaries are set to lead metal well into the 21st
century.) 16.00
DÄLEK Abandoned Language DLP (ipecac - When we last left off with
Dälek, they had released Absence, a dark and dirgy romp through hip-hop's
underground that left countless listeners and critics in awe. However,
while it would probably be a good career move to replicate that album's
noisy charm, Dälek have once again reinvented themselves with their
fourth and most accomplished full-length, Abandoned Language. "We've been
making wall of noise records for a long time and I think with Absence we
realized that was as far as we wanted to go with that sound," dälek
(the MC/producer) explains. "That sound was just so heavy and dense, but
the new one is about composition and notes we are playing. The layering
is still there, but the instrumentation is totally different." In fact,
from the sinister strings in "Lynch" to old-school hip-hop flavor of
"Isolated Stare" to the heady melodicism of "Tarnished", Abandoned
Language is complex enough for fans of avant-noise, but accessible enough for
mainstream hip-hop audiences.
DLP comes in a nice gatefold) 20.00
DEICIDE scars of the crucifix LP (earache - „Scars Of The Crucifix“
shows DEICIDE after a well-done break. Glen Benton is again full of
blasphemy and evilness that every honest believer instantly gets white as a
sheet, he sings, screams and grunts until his throat bleeds and besides
that, he provides the frightening rhythm ground with his four-stringer
and the necessary low notes. The devilish brothers Hoffman rape their
B.C. Rich guitars as it’s known and besides razorsharp riffs, they
deliver sometimes also some strange solos. Steve Asheim enthrones behind his
kit in the known manner and he grinds his drums as he would be driven
by the devil personally.
the quality of “Scars Of The Crucifix” makes absolutely up for that and
every Death Metaller’s heart should go high. So, follow the call of the
horned one and kneel down before the master’s newest weapon, made by
the four apocalyptic riders, united known as DEICIDE.) 14.00
DECAPITATED nihility Lp (earache - DECAPITATED does have some good
influences from their home country, as BEHEMOTH and VADER have been
hammering their way in Metal for a while now. So it's not surprising that this
young band also delivers a similar brand of Metal to us. Brutal Death
Metal, yet DECAPITATED seems to be a little bit more technical, more
towards VADER than BEHEMOTH style-wise. It's always kinda unfair to
compare a young band to a band that has made quite a name for themselves, but
in this case it's more of a compliment. The skills of these 4 young
musicians are remarkable. The grunts are excellent, drumming is good, but
the guitar work is downright phenomenal!! Like previously mentioned,
very technical riffs with lots of breaks and tempo changes, good solos,
everything that's required for very good Death Metal. Some outstanding
tracks on "Nihility" are "Perfect Dehuminisation", "Nihility (Anti-Human
Manifesto)", "Names" and "Spheres Of Madness". Too bad this record is
fairly short, a common side-effect with good Brutal Metal-records.
Anyway, this whole albums breathes potential, it's amazing how this band
manages to deliver a great piece of Death Metal, and any fan of VADER or
just plain good Death Metal should try to add this to the collection!)
14.00
EARTHLESS rhythms from a cosmic sky LP (tee pee - Earthless is the
brainchild of Mario Rubalcaba, Mike Eginton & Isaiah Mitchell. Rubalcaba a
prolific drummer has worn the alias of Ruby Mars during his stint with
Rocket From The Crypt, went on to bang away for the Hot Snakes, was the
drummer for hardcore art-punks Clikatat Ikatowi and previously was in
the Black Heart Procession… and prior to that? Mario was a member of
Tony Alva’s Alva Team skateboarding crew. He now finds himself, along with
bassist Mike Eginton and guitarist Isaiah Mitchell, knee deep in the
near opposite direction of all things punk rock, ensconced in the world
of jam, space and “cosmic nodding” a.k.a. Earthless.) 17.50
FRANKLIN Building In A & E LP (file 13 - Change is prevalent after six
years. These seven songs (recorded by the beloved scientist) document
Franklin's ability to mix hip-hop, dub reggae, indie rock, and soul into
a functioning world of sound. Soundtrack for watching people pass by
your apartment building stoop.) 11.00
FUDGE TUNNEL "Creep Diets" LP (earache - Fudge Tunnel have to be ranked
among Metal's greats. A monumental slab of molten feedback, genetically
cloned riffs, and earth-moving bass licks, there's nothing else like it
in rock 'n' roll -- unfortunately, not even subsequent releases stack
up track for track.) 10.00
FUDGE TUNNEL the complicated futility of ignorance LP (earache - I find
it interesting that a band like Fudge Tunnel used to draw comparisons
to early Godflesh when, in fact, they sound nothing like Godflesh.
Granted, Alex Newport’s acerbic shouting can easily make him a graduate of
the Justin Broaderick School of Acerbic Shouting ™, but for the most
part, each song is a monstrously heavy groover with frequent nods to
Helmet and early Swans. On this, their last official full-length album, it
is all the more apparent that Newport and co. were seriously pissed off
individuals with a knack for memorable hooks and good grooves. Like
Prong’s Tommy Victor, Newport’s guitar tone had grown huge,
all-encompassing, and very, very thick proportions. Also like Tommy Victor and Page
Hamilton, Newport’s main strengths lay in constructing good, catchy,
consistent, hook-laden riffs that stuck to you like adhesive. The
appropriately titled “Six Eight” slows things down to do a doomy crawl, while
“The Joy of Irony” makes way for some interesting dynamics in the form
of interesting clean textures. Most notably throughout most of the
tracks is the consistent, loose interplay between Newport’s crushing guitar,
David Riley’s slithering bass, and the less-is-more rhythmic crunch of
Adrian Parkin’s drums.) 10.00
GRAND MAGUS monument LP (rise above - There´s a soulful bluesy-ness
that runs right through the core of this album, giving it a very warm
sound that only comes from awesome bands and you simply cannot fake that.
One of the best things about Grand Magus is guitarist/vocalist JB (also
of Spiritual Beggars fame). Not only is he in posession of one of rocks
greatest singing voices since John Garcia, but the bastard also has the
ourtight nerve to be a lead guitarist of such skill and dexterity as to
make most other axemen look like a bunch of slouches in comparison.
Refreshingly, his shit hot solos aren´t merely muso-jizz festivals, but
impressive displays of musicianship that sound like the song would be
naked without them, always full of soul and passion, and never too showy
for the sake of it. If this doesn´t turn up in any ´best of´ lists in
the new year, then it´s only because the list maker hasn´t heard it. Put
simply, Monument is an outstanding album from a criminally underrated
band. Doom-Alive) 19.00
GRAND MAGUS wolf's return LP (rise above - The Wolf Bites back! With
their third full length album for Rise Above Records, Swedish Gods, Grand
Magus are taking the Doom Metal World by storm with the Wolf's Return.)
19.00
THY GRIEF ETERNAL on blackened wings 12" (rise above - Ever imagined
Winter playing at half the speed, then digesting a bucketful of Elephant
tranquilisers? Listening to this will have the desired effect!
Originally intended for an EP release on Rise Above back in 1991, this was
scrapped in favour of waiting for an album that never came. The band
(brainchild of Jus Oborn) changed their name to Eternal, who eventually
evolved into the band we now know as Electric Wizard!
This is an extreme cult item for die hards & collectors alike. 1,000
pressed - 500 black/500 silver/grey. Doom Or Be Doomed) 16.00
GROWING Vision Swim LP (troubleman - GROWING returns with their most
focused and intense work to date. The twin guitar attack is complimented
by a wall of amps and deafening volume--and just the right amount of
extreme quiet and delicacy. Growing have ventured into uncharted
territory, where sheets of noise meld with metallic noodling and blissfully
numbing drones and exploratory electronic manipulations. LP packaged with
die-cut sleeves with full-color inner sleeves.) 16.50
THE HAUNTED the haunted made me do it LP (earache - It all started in
July 1996 with the demise of seminal Swedish melodic death metal band,
At The Gates. At this time, guitarist Patrik Jensen (ex-Seance) was
looking for members to start a new project. At The Gates drummer Adrian
Erlandsson, a good friend of Jensen's, saw the opportunity and seized it.
Jensen and Adrian's first rehearsal took place on the 28th of July in
ATG´s old rehearsal place, where Jensen and Adrian jammed out on some of
Jensen´s material as well as some old ATG classics. Before long, ATG's
Anders and Jonas Bjorler joined the fold, on guitar and bass
respectively. their second studio album. Released in fall 2000, "The Haunted Made
Me Do It" was The Haunted's masterpiece to date. Exceeding all
expectations, "The Haunted Made Me Do It' played like a ruthless manifesto of
hardcore angst, unrelenting thrash, and melodic Gothenburg groove,
detonating the boundaries of beauty and aggression.) 14.00
ISIS Celestial DLP (conspiracy - euro pressing. First european vinyl
pressing. Overwhelming in heaviness and awesome in expanse, Celestial
escalates ISIS' thunderous assault and explores infinite shades of mood
and sound. Seven epic songs launched with mechanistic precision and
carefully measured flourishes that collapse into avalanche-heavy passages of
devastating power.) 18.50
JOHN WIESE soft punk LP (troubleman - After almost 10 years of
performing solo and over 50 releases in every conceivable format, JOHN WIESE
(SISSY SPACEK, et al.) finally unleashes his debut full-length. Thirteen
songs of harsh yet beautiful soundscapes that explore the realm of
piercing cut-n-paste assemblage and harsh noise.) 15.00
MORBID ANGEL "Domination" LP (earache – slime green vinyl - *Now here's
a real Rarity** The original German only pressing version of the
Domination LP pressed on a bright slime green vinyl. It looks awesome and is
now very hard to find. Get them from Earache direct while they are
still available. The closest the band got to commerciality, this album is
non-stop clean cut Death Metal from start to finish - includes "Where
the Slime LIves" and the experimental "Hatework".) 14.00
MORBID ANGEL abominations of desolation LP (earache - Morbid Angel's
actual, self-financed debut, Abominations of Desolation, stll with
vincen from noctunus singing, was recorded in 1986 but not released due to
the band's dissatisfaction with the results. This is a milestone in death
metal and it started the whole florida metal thing...This album was
only available as a bootleg until Earache decided to release the original
recordings) 12.50
OM Conference of the bird LP (holy mountain records - Comprised of two
songs that build on Om's (Al Cisneros and Chris Hakius, rhythm section
of legendary sludge and stoner rock pioneers, Sleep) use of cyclical
rhythm, riff, and vocal intonation, the duo's new album Conference of the
Birds blends metal, chant, drone, dub, and psychedelia. The band's
lyrics expound upon the structure of the universe, potentiality, and
freedom from the physical body. Engineered by Billy Anderson and produced by
the band, Conference of the Birds progresses beyond their debut,
Variations on a Theme, with more fully realized songwriting and production.)

PITCHSHIFTER infotainment 12" (earache -- Finally realising their early
promise, Pitchshifter delivered up an album that managed to mix
breakbeat, drum and bass and the trademark industrial power - their last album
before entering major label land) 10.00
PITCHSHIFTER the remix wars LP (earache - Several tracks from
Desensitized including "Triad" given a remix workout by Therapy?, Biohazard and
Gunshot.) 8.00
PITCHSHIFTER desensitized LP (earache records The UK-based
Pitchshifter's 1993 album, Desensitized, shows a band of enormous potential that
was still only beginning to unfold. This album epitomizes the band's
dark, industrial atmosphere that was essentially constant in their work
throughout the early 1990's. Although "Diable", "Triad" and "Cathode" are
particularly worthy of notice, every track on Desensitized passes the
point of no return in terms of hypnotic morbidity. With lyrics varying
in range from the self laceration of "Diable", to the government's
coercive powers in "Cathode", and finally all the way down to the purely
neurotic assault of talking samples in "N.C.M.", after an extended listen
to this album, listeners will have been hurled through seemingly every
morose, roaring chord of distortion Desensitized has to offer. However,
don't be fooled into believing that the carnage is over after hearing
the closing song "Routine" as there is, hidden at the end of this disc,
a new and improved performance of "Landfill" - a song originally found
on Pitchshifter's first album.
Although Pitchshifter has now moved far away from this album's sound,
fans of the early 1990's industrial scene should note that this album is
not at all to be overlooked with all of its furious potential.) 10.00
PLEASURE FOREVER Bodies Need Rest LP (conspiracy - Bodies Need Rest is
a posthumous collection of unreleased and rare Pleasure Forever
recordings. This release was originally intended to be an EP of cover songs
that in one way or another fit the gestalt of Pleasure Forever. At long
last, this album consists of four cover songs from that unfinished EP,
plus four rare tracks forming a comprehensive timeline from the band's
beginning. This album includes 5 previously unreleased Pleasure Forever
tracks as well as two B-sides previously released on Sub Pop and one
track from the out-of-print Buddyhead Gimme Skelter compilation. PLEASURE
FOREVER is not currently active, but the long-awaited release featuring
unreleased songs (some of which have been posted here in the past),
B-sides and compilaiton tracks is set for official release worldwide on
May 22, 2007 via Conspiracy Records. Each band member lives in a
different city on the west coast and is involved in other musical projects at
this time. Andrew Rothbard released his first solo album Abandoned
Meander in late 2006 on Smooch Records. David Clifford currently plays drums
in RED SPAROWES and bass guitar in THE SAGITTARIANS. Josh Hughes has a
new band called RABBITS featuring ex-Lion Fever drummer Kevin Garrison.
Pleasure Forever was once known as SLAVES and all thee members played
previously in The VSS.) 13.50
SCANNER delivery 2xLP (earache - With his work as Scanner, Robin
Rimbaud implicates himself in processes of surveillance, engendering access
to both technology and language and the power games of voyeurism.
Dubbed a 'telephone terrorist', Rimbaud is a techno-data pirate whose
scavenging of the electronic communications highways provides the raw
materials for his aural collages of electronic music and 'found'
conversations. Musician, writer, media critic, cultural engineer and host of the
highly successful monthly digital club the Electric Lounge at the ICA
since 1994, 'a meaningful nexus of interaction,' (The Independent), he is
currently at work on a variety of projects - occasionally stopping to
eat and sleep, but don't believe those rumours! 'Delivery' brings another
diverse collaboration to the fore, mutating Scanner and noted extreme
label Earache into a highly palatable album, despite the dark
undercurrents of the voyeur seeping into the soundscapes; definitely a record for
fans of SCORN ...) 14.00
SCORN "Evanescence" DLP (earache - Scorn's finest hour bar none, the
moment when the vision of ambient dub all came together into something
hauntingly fresh and uncomfortably challenging. Spacious rhythms, dreamy
spaced out passages and a thudding, omnipresent bass drone make this an
all time Earache classic. 'Silver Rain Fell', 'Days Passed' and 'The
End' all slumber past in perfect doom-dub fashion, lulling the listener
into a place where the sounds might appear friendly, but the horror is
only just beneath the surface. Ex Napalm Death men Nik Bullen and Mick
Harris combine to their greatest effect on this, the perfect, pivotal
Scorn album.) 14.00
ULTRAVIOLENCE psycho drama 2xLp (earache - This is the first (and
possibly the only) gabber opera ever created. Picture Romeo & Juliet with
elements of Orpheus and Prizzi's Honor, tossed in a blender with a beef
heart and pureed. PSYCHO DRAMA tells the nihilistic tale of Jessica (a
child molestation victim turned drug-addled prostitute with an angel's
voice) and Hitman (the psychotic product of parents who raised him to
succeed, but never bothered to hold or love him), two star-crossed
lovers on a collision course with fate, death, hell, and...? Lay all this
over a bed of gabber/broken beat/speedcore/happy hardcore, and you have
one seriously twisted piece of work. An ideal gift for fans of movies by
David Fincher (Fight Club), Larry Clark (Kids), or Harmony Korine
(Gummo).) 14.00
ULTRAVIOLENCE life of destructor LP (earache - The appeal of
Ultraviolence presents something of a quandary - whilst the music is undoubtedly
rooted in the techno and Industrial genres, the name initially found
more of an outlet via the rock press, who saw the anger-fuelled harshness
of the debut Earache album 'Life of Destructor' as a direct electronic
mirror of the extreme Metal scene.) 10.00
VANISHING VOICE - Stone Tablet – LP (important - Limited edition of 500
packaged in beautifully screen printed jackets. Musically, the vinyl
version is significantly different from the CD version including
different mixes and an extra track. The Wooden Wand acolytes return for another
meteoric rush of improvised psychedlia courtesy of Important Records.
The main meal here is the truly epic title track which is born from the
murky primordial soup of G. Lucas Crane's freeform electronics only to
evolve into full-scale krautrock-tinged acid rock, all held together by
the powerhouse drumming of Magik Markers' Pete Nolan. 'Peace Symbols'
is an interesting change of gear for the band and takes the shape of a
hazy hippy singalong akin to the songwriting of the absent Wooden Wand
himself. Of course, about halfway through the song's ten-and-a-half
minutes, the band's penchant for all things far-out kicks back in and we're
rapidly yanked back into the wildest netherworlds of lo-fi soundscape
experimentation.) 18.00
WOODS at rear house LP (troubleman - FINALLY ON VINYL!! LTD CLEAR
COPIES!!! Woods began in the woods, at the foot of Bear Mountain. In the
earliest days it was a collaborative improvisational group with two core
members and several guests, known as "woodsists." Shortly thereafter,
Jeremy Earl and Christian DeRoeck emerged from the woods, dusted
themselves off, and began to walk upright. The two woodsists immersed
themselves in human culture, learned to craft a melody, to wield a tambourine,
to construct a crude phonograph from spare bicycle parts. They learned
the value of a cassette. Earl and DeRoeck returned to the woods and
shared their newfound knowledge with the other woodsists. At Rear House is
the result, songs and improvisations by outsiders, inspired by the
human experience.) 15.00
CD
PREVAIL "curtain call - discography" cd (stickfigure - The complete
discography of Columbia, South Carolina’s Prevail finds the light of day
again. Prevail were a politically aware emotive hardcore band which
existed during the mid 90’s which helped to lay the groundwork for the
modern screamo hardcore scene. All told all thirtyone of Prevail’s recorded
songs are present on this cd. “This is what we are. All laid in front
of you. Take it as you will. Prevail is nothing more than six people,
yet it is everything. Not to you, but to us. It is not easy to give you a
list of what we are all about. As people we change everday. We have
certain goals and particular ideals that we adhere to but nothing is
etched in stone. We learn new things. We meet new people. We experience. We
are not sure. We go with what we have deemed as our truth. Perhaps it
is not in accord with yours. That’s fine. Life is an interesting thing.
It is full of so much. Anyway, prevail are dorks. All of us make
mistakes. We are nothing more than human. Damn.”) 12.00
BOOKS
Burn Collector #13 by Al Burian (Your eyes are not deceiving you, burn
collector #13 is now available. This is 100 pages of al burian’s
excellent writing. We at Stickfigure think that this is definitely the best
issue of burn collector yet. Topics range from real estate to hitch
hiking in germany to art school. Good. Here is an excerpt: "My friend Matt
instructs me on how to compose myself if I'm ever caught in a drive-by
shooting. "Your first instinct, when people start falling to the ground
screaming all around you, is going to be to make a run for it," he
tells me. "Wrong move. People in Chicago are really good shots. They'll aim
around you. You just have to keep walking at a steady pace, as if
nothing's going on. If you make a break for it, you're much more likely to
accidently run into a bullet." I try to imagine myself walking to the
convenience store on the corner for a soda, calmly, through a hail of
gunfire, and then casually back down the street, soda in hand, stepping
over twitching bodies as the sirens begin their howling lament in the far
off distance somewhere. I'm not religious enough to use the words like
"fate" or "pre-destiny" openly (instead opting for phrases like
"statistical inevitability"), but deep down, I do believe in the idea of the
bullet with your name on it. It was stamped on at the factory, and
either has it or it hasn't, there is nothing you can do, and your composure,
one way or the other, certainly isn't going to change things. The only
course of action is to keep a steady pace, do what you have to do, and
hope that today, once again, will not be your day.") 4.00

curing poison ivy, and the importance of girls screaming for all
they're worth. If you are a Doris fan already, then you'll really be into
this one. Definitely more of the trademark aesthetic that we've come to
know and love. Introspective, inspiring, and easy to relate to...c'mon
everybody, don't we all see the connection between DIY punk rock songs
and new country radio? If not, then we need to pay better attention.)

OVERRATED BOOK, THE: THE GREATEST BOOK YOU'LL EVER BUY (chunklet – by
Henry Owings, editor. The Overrated Book is brought to you by the staff
of Chunklet Magazine, a paragon of satire for the holy cows of
underground music and culture. Since the early '90s, the magazine has
mercilessly lampooned the music industry, and is one of the most loved reads for
the hippest bands and music aficionados. It has a highly graphic style
and combines the work of political cartoonist Ted Rall with many
talented, young artists from the Cartoon Network. In recent issues, the
magazine has offered an official guide of what music not to buy and made
extensive charts of a Pay Not To Play system, offering bands large amounts
of money to break-up, and Adopt a Gutter Punk program to make the world
smell just a tiny bit better. Overrated features the comic musings of
David Cross (Mr. Show, Arrested Development), Sarah Silverman (Saturday
Night Live, Jesus Is Magic), Janeane Garofalo (Saturday Night Live, Air
America Radio) Patton Oswalt (King of Queens, Comedians of Comedy),
Brian Posehn (Mr. Show, Just Shoot Me), and Zach Galifianakis (Late Night
With Zach, Bubble Boy).) 24.00

STONE HOTEL Poems From Prison by Raegan Butcher (crimethink - A punk
rock vision quest told in the tradition of the anarchist travel story,
Off the Map is narrated by two young women as they discard their maps,
fears, and anything resembling a plan, and set off on the winds of the
world. Without the smug cynicism that seems to permeate most modern
radical tales, this story is told with genuine hope, and a voice that never
loses its connection with the mysteries of life, even in the midst of
everyday tragedies. Wandering across Europe, the dozens of vignettes are
the details of the whole—a squatted castle surrounded by tourists on
the Spanish coast, a philosophizing businessman on the highways of
France, a plaça full of los crustos in Barcelona, a diseased foot in a
Belgian train squat, a glow bug on the dew-covered grass of anywhere—a
magical, novel-like folktale for the end of the world.) 7.00
