-----------------------------------------------------------
AFTER THE BOMBS - Relentless onslaught LP 9.90 EUR

CRUST-CORE. Montreal’s AFTER THE BOMBS hugely anticipated first full-length. 5 tracks of epic late 80’s style crust-metal anthems. AFTER THE BOMBS sound mixes DISCHARGE styled punk with metal/crust in the vain of SACRILEGE, ANTISECT, AXEGRINDER. Punk enough for the punks metal enough for the metal heads. A top notch recording with a dark and evil feel. Heavy guitars, pummeling drums, blazing solos, with raging reverb saturated female vocals comparable to SACRILEDGE, a truly epic record. CD version has the "Terminal filth stench bastard" EP as bonus tracks. (2008/TOTAL END)

-----------------------------------------------------------
ARSIS - We are the nightmare CD+DVD 12.90 EUR

DEATH METAL. Available ca. 18.04.2008. Well known for their relentless touring, Virginia's ARSIS returned to the studio to record "We are the nightmare," and will be back on the road immediately following the release. These 10 tracks showcase the band's creative blend of melodic death metal, black metal influenced vocals, technical riffing and precise drumming. (2008/NUCLEAR BLAST)

-----------------------------------------------------------
BAD REACTION - Had it coming MCD 8.50 EUR

HARDCORE. BAD REACTION came together after Brooklyn native Kash Reaction (born Khalid Abdulmalik) moved to Los Angeles in 2001 after having quit his studies in the toy manufacturing business. Over the course of two years, and after many false starts, Kash assembled the line up that came to be BAD REACTION. The commonalities lie in their love of the melodic hardcore punk of the early 80s, namely ZERO BOYS, ADOLESCENTS and BAD BRAINS. On another spectrum altogether is Justin of Stillwater, Oklahoma, who is not a fan of punk music at all. He contributes an outsider’s perspective on Jesse and Ben’s punk roots songwriting styles. Add to this Kash’s lyrical input that incorporates storytelling and character study while blurring the line between humor and seriousness. Through constant playing shows, touring, and recording, BAD REACTION are working on leaving their mark while not fitting into any one scene. This current black sheep of punk music would rather build a scene of their own. Their debut CD, "Had it coming, combines two 7”s (The Plastic World and Dare To Be Dull), in addition to a rendition of the BAD BRAINS classic “Pay to cum”. (2008/REFLECTIONS)

-----------------------------------------------------------
BETRAYED - Substance LPcol 12.90 EUR

SXE-HARDCORE. Vinyl available ca. 18.04.2008. If there's any band that can incite a circle pit or inspire the kids to raise their fists and mosh till they can mosh no more, it's certainly BETRAYED. If there's any band that plays hardcore from the heart, it's definitely BETRAYED, who are newly signed to Equal Vision and are armed with a brand new album, the fittingly titled "Substance". There's nothing processed, homogenized, over thought, or stale about "Substance". It's got a pulse, a vibe, and a heart. It favors fiery passion over flash, and substance over style. If there's one thing the current hardcore scene is lacking in 2006, it's a throbbing, beating heart that ignores image and encourages emotion. Thankfully, BETRAYED are here to inject the scene and the youth of today with a much-needed shot of loud, fast hardcore. (2008/EQUAL VISION)

-----------------------------------------------------------
BIRUSHANAH - Akai yami CD 10.90 EUR

HARDCORE. Summoning forth their mode of pounding tribal psychedelic hardcore, Osaka, Japan's BIRUSHANAH captivate your ears in mixing traditional Japanese music stylings with sludgy, deliberate riffage, grating and downright unruly vocals all pushed forth by heavy as hell drumming that will envelop you in their monstrous wall of sound. Epic, irate and refreshingly original, BIRUSHANAH possesses the ability to create an atmosphere that will utterly consume you. Prepare yourself for an ethereal journey of crushing proportions. (2008/LEVEL PLANE)

-----------------------------------------------------------
BLACKLISTED - Heavier than heaven, lonelier than god LPcol 11.50 EUR

HARDCORE. Recorded and engineered by Kurt Ballou (CONVERGE) at Godcity Studios, "Heavier than heaven, lonelier than god" is BLACKLISTED's most dynamic release to date. This latest effort carries a psychological darkness merely hinted at in their previous "Peace on earth..." release, diving head first into the jaws of their introspective abyss. This bold leap has sharpened their teeth and reaped great creative rewards. Songs like "Stations" and "Touch test" erupt with shocking state of emotional electricity, while the abrasive melancholy of "Circuit breaker" and "Wish" possess the ability to haunt listeners for a lifetime. All these qualities showcase BLACKLISTED's continuing evolution as a band, and also distance them far from the rest of the hardcore pack! (2008/REFLECTIONS)

-----------------------------------------------------------
CDC - Defy the odds MCD 7.90 EUR

HARDCORE. CDC's "Defy the odds" is actually "The split" remixed, remastered and with new vocals and artwork, making 7 tracks of pure fury with brutal breakdowns and catchy sing-a-longs for fans of BURY YOUR DEAD, 100 DEMONS and HOODS. (2008/GHOST TOWN)

-----------------------------------------------------------
CRIME DESIRE - Same LP/CD 9.90/6.90 EUR

HARDCORE. Take the slow songs off classic 80’s hardcore records ("Evacuate," "Lost," "Bloodfeast," etc.), mix with the doom and gloom of early batcave/goth, throw in heavy doses of SAMHAIN, and even a hint of INTEGRITY, then watch too many cult exploitation movies and top the whole mess off with bleak misanthropic and satanic lyrical themes and you might come up with something that sounds a bit like CRIME DESIRE’s latest outing. The new LP is an unrepentantly midpaced, plodding, dark hardcore record with huge production and the attention to great packaging and design you’ve come to expect from a CRIME DESIRE record. If you’re in the market for some doom and gloom, this might just be the bum-out you’ve been looking for. The CD version features the "In lucifer’s grip" EP, "Id music to combat the superego" LP and unreleased compilation songs as bonus tracks, adding up to about 60 minutes of music! (2008/LIFE'S A RAPE)

-----------------------------------------------------------
DESTROY THE RUNNER - I, lucifer CD 13.90 EUR

METALCORE. San Diego’s DESTROY THE RUNNER aren’t basic or formulaic with their approach. Sure, they certainly know how to craft blood-blistering riffs and rattling rhythms, and they aren’t afraid to play with shifting dynamics, dropping clean melodies in the middle of the maelstrom. This is a down-to-earth band that’s got the chops to incorporate memorable melodies and undeniable hooks, all the while maintaining their metal/hardcore roots. DESTROY THE RUNNER are just getting started, and one reason that the kids will gravitate towards "I, lucifer" is the transparency and passion that pumps through the album’s veins. Ultimately, "I, lucifer" is a complete package. Underneath the veneer of heaviness lies a questioning, challenging spirit and craftly written songs with memorable melodies. (2008/SOLID STATE)

-----------------------------------------------------------
EFFORT, THE - Iconoclasm LP 11.50 EUR

HARDCORE. THE EFFORT is a straight edge hardcore band that formed in 2006, playing a style of music that blends the modern youth crew sound of Boston’s late 1990s with the social conscious lyrics of artists like INSIDE OUT, 108, and BOY SETS FIRE. As THE EFFORT’s fan base continued to grow, the band put pen to paper and began working on their long anticipated full-length release titled "Iconoclasm" again, for Words Of War Records. Enlisting the help of studio engineer Jay Maas at the Getaway Group in Boston (AMBITIONS, HAVE HEART, VERSE, MELTDOWN, THE CARRIER, SHIPWRECK and HAMMER BROS.), the band began to work on "Iconoclasm". Consisting of 9 new songs, 3 re-recorded songs and guest vocals by Sweet Pete (IN MY EYES), "Iconoclasm" features a much more mature sound musically and lyrically. (2008/WORDS OF WAR)

-----------------------------------------------------------
ELEVEN THIRTY-FOUR - Nothing 7''col 3.70 EUR

HARDCORE. Originally released in 1995 and unavailable for years, these colored vinyl copies of the ELEVEN THIRTY-FOUR "Nothing" 7"s were recently uncovered and are available again for a limited time only. ELEVEN THIRTY-FOUR was a part of the Orange County hardcore scene in the mid-'90s and featured Matt Enright of FUNCTION on vocals and Brian Balchack of IGNITE on guitar. An LP was later released on New Age Records as well as a 7" on Livewire Records, so don't miss your chance to hear where it all began. (2008/AMMUNITION)

-----------------------------------------------------------
EMBRACE THE END - Ley lines CD 13.90 EUR

METALCORE. EMBRACE THE END are a deadly five-headed beast bent on eradicating all those who so carelessly use the word "brutal" to describe other bands' music. Once subjected to the apocalyptic abandon these Sacramento natives churn forth, it's clear they're going to be annihilating the audience and their contemporaries alike. With a sound akin to a cinder block tornado, EMBRACE THE END prove to be uncompromising in aggression and unmatched in brutality. Using a deft fusion of scathing blastbeats amid a torrent of seismic breakdowns their musicianship is supreme and devastating. After one listen to their sophomore album, "Ley lines", it's made clear that EMBRACE THE END are unrelenting in all facets from their destructive music to their lyrics and vision. Fusing with the band's technical prowess is their dual vocalist bombardment, hitting the listener with a myriad of vocal stylings from all across the board, backed by enough desperation to bring attention from even the most calloused bystander. (2008/CENTURY MEDIA)

-----------------------------------------------------------
FAKE BOYS, THE - Sleepwalk MCD 7.90 EUR

PUNK. Featuring members of HAMMER BROS, The FAKE BOYS play upbeat, melodic punk that takes influences from bands like DESCENDENTS, RAMONES, The REPLACEMENTS, JAWBREAKER and ELVIS COSTELLO. 6 songs! (2008/FREQUENCY DELETED)

-----------------------------------------------------------
FRANCIS HAROLD AND THE HOLOGRAMS - Same 7'' 3.50 EUR

PUNK-HARDCORE. Out of the dinges of Bisbee, Arizona have crawled a sick , twisted monster. A vile group that have created an amazing sound not played as great since BOBBY SOXXX / STICKMEN WITH RAYGUNS. You can compare this single to a nightmare, but in a good way. If you are listening to CLOCKCLEANER or PISSED JEANS this is your new favorite band. One time pressing. (2008/GOING UNDERGROUND)

-----------------------------------------------------------
GET RAD / SMASHIN' OFF! - Split 7'' 4.90 EUR

HARDCORE-PUNK. Milwaukee darlings GET RAD keep cranking out the releases, this time bringing their fun-loving, sarcastic hardcore punk to a split alongside New Zealand's SMASHIN' OFF! who play a fast, angry style of hardcore punk that sounds like it could pop up on a 625 compilation. (2008/EL PASO)

-----------------------------------------------------------
IN MY EYES - Nothing to hide LP 9.90 EUR

HARDCORE. IN MY EYES have always been a special band, sort of a "most likely to succeed" for the hardcore scene. There's always been something that sets them apart from other hardcore bands, and their new LP "Nothing to hide" shows exactly what this something is. It is the ability to communicate their emotions and convictions through music. ''Nothing to hide'' has all the energy and aggression that their demo and "The difference between" had, but it expands their sound into someting truly unique. You can still hear the echoes of bands like MINOR THREAT and YOUTH OF TODAY, but the new album brings in even more of a sense of melody and structure than their previous record. This new fuller sound captures the energy, urgency and sincerity that makes them special. ''Nothing to hide'' is the fulfillment of the potential that IN MY EYES had when they burst onto the scene. (2008/REVELATION)

-----------------------------------------------------------
INMATES, THE - Back in history DVD 11.90 EUR

PUNK. The INMATES are the epitome of the British Garage or Pub band genre. No frills, no expensive gear, no light show, just a great rock sound. The Inmates started life in 1977, and by 1980 had created quite the fan base. "Back in history" is a wonderful trip down memory lane. The DVD is certainly not Imax quality, all of the footage has been restored from what I am guessing was 8mm home camera film. The result is a less than perfect video rendition. The sound though, is a different beast, it sounds just the way it should, slightly raw, and very intense. To the best of my knowledge this is the only DVD around of this band, which is sad, they certainly deserve greater recognition. "Back in history" contains footage from two shows, Dingwall’s in London and Nelson’s in Wimbledon. Don’t expect Big Hair, Glittery Costumes, or even the mere semblance of organization. These guys just play it the way they see it. (2008/MUSIC VIDEO)

-----------------------------------------------------------
LET DOWN - We're in this alone LP 11.50 EUR

HARDCORE. "We're in this alone" is LET DOWN's long-awaited (by someone, hopefully) LP taking aim at the world around them, in and out of hardcore. Hoping to avoid becoming yet another hardcore band with a couple of decent 7 inches and one big stinker of an LP, LET DOWN has refined their approach by taking influence from all eras of straight edge hardcore, from SSD to COUNT ME OUT, and dropping 11 vicious tracks that don't let up. Instead of dragging on and on, the LP was written to be over before you know it, leaving you vaguely disoriented and feeling like you were just violated with a blunt object. The title is the band's mission statement in today's hardcore scene, forever viewing themselves as one of the last gasps of straight edge hardcore. Accept them as they are or get out of the way. (2008/SIX FEET UNDER)

-----------------------------------------------------------
LORDS OF LIGHT - Electric sun LP 8.90 EUR

HARDCORE. Presenting the long awaited companion EP to LOL's most recent full length album, "Energy" (625/Life Is Abuse/Li'l Deputy) whose songs were drawn from the same whirlwind recording session at Smegma Studios. These tracks tend toward the psychedelic and the grandiose as well as the brutal. From the mesmerizing title piece that opens the record to the heroic strains of the closing mini opera, "Electric sun" showcases the unrelenting energy that has become the hallmark of the LORDS OF LIGHT. Featuring inimitable vocals, unpredictable riffs, and truly legendary drumming, this rough and ready Portland outfit defies all expectations. Listeners hoping to at last categorize this heretofore unclassifiable trio might as well resign themselves to further disappointment. But for those who wish to revel in the sound of a band for whom there are no creative constraints, lift your hands in praise of Shuujaat! (2008/STUDIO GEORDIE)

-----------------------------------------------------------
LOS MONJO - Cobardes 7'' 3.90 EUR

PUNK. From Guadalajara Mexico LOS MONJO carry the sound and raw structure of late 70's punk bands like ESKORBUTO and PARALISIS PERMANENTE mixed with the dirty rockin' roll swagger of THE STOOGES. This is the second EP from the same recording session as their debut 'Cerdos' on Todo Destruido Records. Trashy drums, razor guitar, manic vocals, and bass lines that tie everything together with hooks and plodding rhythm. Fans of current bands like PIOGGIA NERA and PELIGRO SOCIAL will absolutely loose their shit. Limited vinyl. (2008/NO OPTIONS)

-----------------------------------------------------------
MOLOTOV SOLUTION - Same CD 11.90 EUR

METAL/GRINDCORE. MOLOTOV SOLUTION debuts their self-titled full-length on Twelve Gauge Records. This brand new effort features the band's newest and best material to date and leaves no room for disappointment. Politics and government corruption remain a dominant theme in the lyrics, opening your eyes to a whole new world of knowledge. (2008/TWELVE GAUGE)

-----------------------------------------------------------
NO TURNING BACK - Stronger CD 11.50 EUR

HARDCORE. Releasedate vinyl is 08.05.2008. "Stronger" is their fourth full-length album. Since the release of "Holding on", in the fall of 2006, a lot has happened for NO TURNING BACK. This third full length record has taken the band to the next level of their impressive ten year strong career. Together with Dirk Miers at De Studio and Alan Douches at West West Side who contributed their expertise to ‘Stronger”, NO TURNING BACK took 10 days and simply did that what they wanted to: they recorded their best record to date. With guestvocals from DOWN TO NOTHING, COLD WORLD and ENEMY GROUND and the artwork being done once more by Bas Kahle. (2008/REFLECTIONS)

-----------------------------------------------------------
PAINT IT BLACK - New lexicon LPcol 10.90 EUR

HARDCORE-PUNK. Second pressing of the LP. It's gritty, thunderous, and ugly, just the way hardcore-punk should be. "New lexicon" marks the band's first recording with new drummer Jared Shavelson (HOPE CONSPIRACY, NONE MORE BLACK) and boasts guest vocals from Jeff Pezatti (NAKED RAYGUN, THE BOMB). An aggressive clarity with a thick low-end up front (think BAD BRAINS' Roir sessions). Feedback, bass booms, and cymbal crashes are twisted into haunting ambient interludes and serpentine waves trailing behind the buzz saw riffs. Fifteen songs clocking in at 30 minutes, 26 seconds. Sounds like BAD BRAINS, BLACK FLAG, KID DYNAMITE, MODERN LIFE IS WAR and NIRVANA all at once. (2008/RIVALRY)

-----------------------------------------------------------
SAVING GRACE - Behind enemy lines CD 7.90 EUR

HARDCORE. Combining brutal metal driven riffage, big breakdowns and mosh parts with the passion, intensity and ethics of traditional hardcore, SAVING GRACE deliver a blistering and crowd engaing live performance, never failing to leave a strong impression. (2008/HARVEST EARTH)

-----------------------------------------------------------
SHOOT IT UP - No. 5 7'' 4.50 EUR

HARDCORE-PUNK. Seriously drug-addled youths rattling off real deal punk rock tuneage. Non-stop hack and slash guitar work that seems surprisingly (or accidentally) skilled at times, fucked vox from some kid who is probably a legit menace to society and drums that just keep rolling and rolling until the song stops. This thing reeks of weed, pills and booze of the cheap variety. If you don't like this record, you are definitely not a punk. Kids of the world, stop being pussies and start making more records that sound like this! (2008/CRIMINAL IQ)

-----------------------------------------------------------
SINALOA - Oceans of islands LP/CD 11.50/11.90 EUR

POST-HARDCORE. The new full length record will be called "Oceans of islands" and will be released by Level Plane Records. SINALOA carry on with the tradition established by such earlier Massachusetts bands as ETTIL VRYE and ARCARO in that SINALOA have that emo meets math/indie rock sound. Great ‘90s style emo-core. (2008/LEVEL PLANE)

-----------------------------------------------------------
SOILENT GREEN - Inevitable collapse in the presence of conviction CD 14.50 EUR

METAL. New Orleans underground rock kings SOILENT GREEN deliver their long-awaited new full length album. Returning with a vengeance, SOILENT GREEN has channeled the unexpected hardships they have faced into the most intensely focused album of their career. (2008/METAL BLADE)

-----------------------------------------------------------
SWORD, THE - Gods of the earth LP 14.90 EUR

METAL. Recorded at Folkvang Studios in Austin, TX, "Gods of the earth" instantly conveys what words can only try to describe: THE SWORD is not to be taken lightly. From the moment the album's lead track "The sundering" explodes, it is immediately apparent that THE SWORD has upped the ante on a sound all its own. More ambitious, more accomplished and simply bigger, "Gods of the earth'' is huge, has mountaintop-friendly hooks, thunderous drumming and oceanic bass lines cut through the air like a scythe, while the ominous vocals of frontman J.D. Cronise weave fantastical tales rife with myth and mythology. (2008/KEMADO)

-----------------------------------------------------------
THRICE - The alchemy index Vols. III & IV DoCD 14.90 EUR

EMO/INDIEROCK. THRICE’s boundary pushing continues with the second installment of the Alchemy Index series. Volumes 1&2 (Fire & Water), released in October 2007, were met with tremendous critical acclaim and fanfare. Fans and critics were especially impressed with the Water side and just how far the band had pushed the parameters of what they can do as professional musicians. The Earth and Air series show two more sides of the band that anyone has yet to see. The Earth side will showcase a more stripped down, raw element of the band, while Air will expose a more soft rock side. One thing is for certain…no one really knows where THRICE’s music is going, and their fans seem to like it just fine that way. (2008/VAGRANT)

-----------------------------------------------------------
TRUE COLORS - Focus on the light LP 10.90 EUR

SXE-HARDCORE. Former JUSTICE-guitarplayer Dunk and Packo from BUILDING started a Straight Edge band that would sound like YOUTH OF TODAY’s ‘Break down the walls’ and the TURNING POINT demo, with maybe a small hint of IN MY EYES. The 1st full-length is full of emotional and melodic. The sound is fat and raw at the same time while the vocals always maintain to stay on top of the riffs. Innovative songwriting backed by strong lyrics which not always offer you the wisdom of the world but still manage to develop their own charm to it. This vinyl counts 14 songs, the CD has the "Same" EP (sold out) as extra so it counts 20 tracks. (2008/SIX FEET UNDER)

-----------------------------------------------------------
TUSK - The resisting dreamer LPcol 17.90 EUR

DOOM-METAL. Chicago's TUSK are comprised of most of the members of PELICAN and add vocals into the mix for three of these four songs of metal that are becoming more and more influenced by bands like THROBBING GRISTLE and BAUHAUS. Now available on colored vinyl. (2008/TORTUGA)

-----------------------------------------------------------
UNFORGIVEN - Last of the few MCD 8.50 EUR

HARDCORE. Connecticut supergroup Unforgiven feature members of DEAD WRONG, WITH HONOR and AMBITIONS and on this debut release bring six tracks of Cleveland-styled metallic hardcore that is compared to INTEGRITY and RINGWORM and newer bands like LIVING HELL, SHIPWRECK and GUNS UP. (2008/EIGHTFOLD PATH)

-----------------------------------------------------------
WACO FUCK - Paranoia is total awareness LP/CD 9.90/6.90 EUR

HARDCORE. WACO FUCK’s first full-length "Paranoia is total awareness" shows the band moving their malicious grinding power violence assault in a decidedly more midpaced hardcore punk direction while retaining the terse urgency of their previous eps. 80’s hardcore such as BATTALION OF SAINTS, MDC, BROKEN BONES and DISCHARGE blends with 90’s favorites like FILTH and STATE OF FEAR while hard as nails INFEST riffage and the occasional blast thrown in for good measure gives the album an undeniable momentum. As the title suggests, an obsession with conspiracy theories and contempt for the military industrial complex sets a powerful tone for the album, ensuring that the lyrics don’t take a backseat to the rage of the music. The CD version features bonus tracks from their two out-of-print EPs. (2008/LIFE'S A RAPE)

-----------------------------------------------------------
WALLS OF JERICHO - Redemption MCD 5.50 EUR

HARDCORE. This release marks a new depth of creativity to the band. Featuring acoustic instruments, melodic vocals and fleshed out arrangements, this is a project that the band has been thinking about for six years. In addition to vocalist Candace using her singing voice, heretofore only glimpsed in rare moments on their albums, this release will feature Corey Taylor's voice appearing on several songs. (2008/TRUSTKILL)

-----------------------------------------------------------
WORD FOR WORD - Keepsake MCD 10.90 EUR

HARDCORE. Manchester, New Hampshire's WORD FOR WORD bring a style of hardcore that is at the same time heavy, melodic and street smart, bringing together the best of bands like H2O, TEN YARD FIGHT, SHEER TERROR and INTEGRITY. (2008/FREQUENCY DELETED)

-----------------------------------------------------------
YOLKS, THE - Introducing 7'' 4.50 EUR

POP-PUNK. This nifty (and excellently named) Chicago three-piece actually live up to some of their own hyperbole. The opener on this, "I Do What I Do", is one of the most deceptively catchy tunes around right now. Just an amazingly simple jewel of understated no-frills garage rock with a pop hook and nonchalant vocals that ends up being more memorable than dozens of KBD-destructos and weird punquers we've heard lately. The YOLKS are cool enough to seem like they're not trying to impress anyone here, but end up doing just that with a creative quartet of tunes that are a credit to a genre that's easy to do badly. (2008/CRIMINAL IQ)
