PUNK. RESIST were first among the wave of new anarcho-punk bands that swept over Portland, Oregon in the late '80s. Durign their brief existence they became a fixture of the local DIY / Anarch-punk movement and released several records before personal problems tore the band apart in 1994. During their brief time together RESIST released their self-titled debut EP, the ''Only Solution'' LP, a pair of split EPs with DISRUPT and DEPRIVED, and finally the ''Ignorance is Bliss'' LP on Profane Existence Records. Druing their time they were considered one of the foremost activist bands of North America, even though they rarely played outside their home town. After the band split up, members of RESIST went on to form other bands such as GODLESS, DEFIANCE, SEVERED HEAD OF STATE, etc. This discography CD includes studio versions of all previously released RESIST tracks plus outtakes and live tracks. The recordings contained herein are completely remastered from the original recordings and sound the way they were originally intended to be. Aside from an extensive booklet of lyrics, photos, and flyers, there are also several video clips contained on each CD. HARDCORE-PUNK. The second release from Portland punks SELF ABUSE who feature members of (the now defunct) The AFTERMATH and 86 MENTALITY. It's well-played hardcore punk but just rawer and a little more… primal? Four pissed-off punks playing songs about people they hate and what they're gonna do to them. Full of old-school guitar riffs and gang vocals. Much like CAREER SUICIDE, OUT COLD, and GOVERNMENT WARNING, SELF ABUSE has made a record that feels like it couldn't have been made at any other time, except in the now. PUNK. This Cologne/Germany-based trio is the new signing on Hamburg's Bitzcore label. The guys present fresh and fantatsic punk mixed with groovy rock'n'roll. SKA. While NYC's The SLACKERS have been influenced and even personally taught by Jamaican ska/reggae originators like the SKATALITES and the UPSETTERS, the band sees its music through an American lens. DEATH METAL. SOUL EMBRACED has returned from the dead, bringing with them a reinvigorated, brutal and precise take on the intense death metal that made them infamous to the underground in the late '90s. Produced by Barry Poynter (LIVING SACRIFICE, ZAO) and mixed by HATE ETERNAL/former MORBID ANGEL guitarist Erik Rutan (Cannibal Corpse, Six Feet Under, Through The Eyes Of The Dead), "Dead alive" serves as SOUL EMBRACED's proper reintroduction to the metal community.
