Band Bio:
Having chosen to continue on as a 3 piece after the amicable loss of
their singer after their s/t tape release, this band has been anything
but a disappointment to anyone. Their 2nd milestone release, “The
Weak and the Wounded”, which was released on their own record
label/distro Dwyer Records has received and continues to receive
worldwide support. So much so that it required a 2nd press. This
tape release also marked a significant change in the songwriting of
Alaskan…now playing a more thought provoking, despressive and
screamo-influenced version of post metal. Alaskan also received
unexpected and unprecedented response from one particular record
label, Sick man getting sick Records (based out of Germany), who will
be helping them through their newest release, “Adversity; Woe”. Sick
man getting sick Records will be pressing this new album to vinyl and
it will be available summer 2011. A much needed European tour is in
the works to support “Adversity; Woe” and will coincide with the
release of the album.
Despite the stresses that would accompany recording, releasing an LP
and booking a European tour, Alaskan is continuing to write and record
more and more music as 2011/2012 will also include the release of at
least 2 splits with bands to be announced.
Keep a look out this summer. If you’re a fan of Celeste, Isis, City
of Caterpillar, Year of No Light and/or Rosetta, this live show is not
to be missed.
