BUILDING BETTER BOMBS plays catchy screamy hardcore, inspired by their surroundings. Features Rhymesayers' P.O.S. on guitar/vocals as well as members of indie-hip-hop group MEL GIBSON & THE PANTS. HARDCORE. Original pressing of 500 on No Wire. Blunt, relevant, straight forward hardcore that whips by like a bullet train. For fans of CRUCIFIX, MDC, or THE CRUCIFUCKS who want songs for 2007, members of CARDIAC ARREST bring 7 catchy, acidic songs about everything from resource depletion and the poor state of the left to hating bars and people. Crushing tones, pummeling speed and raw, sincere anger done the way few bands can. This is it - get it before it's an ebay commodity for jerks who can afford it.

C.O.P. - Ripperside (2007/FLAT BLACK) 7" 4,- €
HARDCORE. C.O.P. is a young '80s style hardcore group who are based out of Riverside California. Classic nardcore at its finest, raw, rude, and overflowing with a bad attitude. Their sound is compared to old Mystic hardcore groups such as STALAG 13, R.K.L., and ILL REPUTE. This is very good, high quality hardcore.

DEATH - Leprosy (2007/BACK ON BLACK) LPcol 15,- €
DEATH-METAL. "Leprosy", DEATH's 2nd album, shows some fairly substantial growth from their already solid debut. It's still just straight forward old-school death-metal, but Chuck's got a better voice and more interesting lead work than most, and the songwriting is a step above the competition. Every track here is good - they don't have much variety, though most of them have a pretty memorable chorus, so they don't just blur together. The riffwork is very nice, with a good combination a chunky, thrashier riffs with blazing, death-metal trem riffs. It's mostly very fast, though it sticks with thrash styled drumming rather than using blast-beats. Plus Chuck gives what is probably his best vocal performance ever. Very intense with out ever going over the top. All in all, an excellent album. This has some rather excellent death-metal production. Comes in nice gatefold and colored vinyl!

DEATH - Scream bloody gore (2007/BACK ON BLACK) DoLPcol 17,- €
DEATH-METAL. "Scream bloody gore" - Everybody argues exactly where death-metal came from. Some believe that it began with POSSESSED's debut - other's believe that death-metal came into play when DEATH released their debut album "Scream bloody gore". A seminal album that helped establish the death-metal subgenre, "Scream bloody gore" may be slightly musically amateurish next to DeEATH's subsequent albums, but it trades polish for savage, gut-wrenching force and speed. Building on the blueprint of SLAYER's "Reign in blood", the lyrics match the disturbing, stomach-churning qualities of the music, and Chuck Schuldiner's vocals do their best to live up to the album's title. Comes in colored vinyl and with bonus 12" (2 additional livetracks). If you have yet to hear this, and you consider yourself a death-metal fan, your wrong! You must first hear this to become worthy.

Each review contains a sleeve picture, english and german review, track listings and additional Information like pressing info, vinyl colors, license pressings, reissues, bootlegs, inserts etc. Over 800 A4 pages thick and heavy enough to fend off a burglar, this is an indespensible guide to the world of hardcore and punk vinyl. Previous editions sold out really quick and fetch large sums on ebay, so this is your chance to make sure to get a copy of the revised edition.

GOLDEN AGE, THE - Carry the torch ( 2007/WORDS OF WAR) CD 11,50 €
HARDCORE. Debut 12 song full-length CD from this hardcore quintet from Corpus Christi - all about circle pits and ready to make you lose your minds. THE GOLDEN AGE play a politically charged, melodic hardcore style that can be compared to bands like STRIKE ANYWHERE, KID DYNAMITE and earlöy COMEBACK KID, complete with catchy riffs and gang vocals. The cover art was done by comic book artist Eric Powell.

MODERN-HARDCORE. Massachusetts based hardcore outfit THE HOMEFRONT has quite a pedigree of previous bands: HAVE HEART, GUNS UP and VERSE. And if you've enjoyed the output of any those bands, you'll be greatly pleased with THE HOMEFRONT's debut offering, "Sacrifice". THE HOMEFRONT play highly energetic and powerful modern-hardcore with a melodic twist - not unlike WITH HONOR or MODERN LIFE IS WAR and the above mentioned bands. The band managed to play over 100 shows in 2 years of their existence, with much more planned upon the near future. This limited to 100 "PER KORO mailorder-only" copies contains 12 (2 additional bonus tracks) amazingly written songs sure to blow you away. HARDCORE. Finally re-pressed and in stock. NEVER HEALED are a Bay Area, CA powerhouse with 8 songs of pure anger presented on this debut LP. The vocal duties are howled by Casey of LOOK BACK AND LAUGH/YAPHET KOTTO and MINDLESS MUTANT fame with an axe being wielded by Andrew of LIGHTS OUT. The end result is heavy, down-tuned rockin' hardcore not unlike that of CITIZENS ARREST. but with screamed SIEGE-like vocals, creating a sonic assault. Spectacular and intense. EMO/INDIE-PUNK. This is the 4th release from THE DRAFT, following 2 previous 7" records and a full-length album. This 7" contains 2 new songs from THE DRAFT pressed on lovely colored vinyl! Both songs feature additional guitars by Brian Baker (MINOR THREAT, BAD RELIGION etc.). THE DRAFT are 3/4 of HOT WATER MUSIC (Jason Black, Chris Wollard, and George Rebelo) with Todd Rockhill (UNITAS, DISCOUNT).

JOE LALLY - Nothing is underrated (2007/DISCHORD) CD 12 €
POST-ROCK/INDIE. JOE LALLY has played bass in FUGAZI since the band's inception in 1987. In 2003 the members of FUGAZI decided to take an indefinite hiatus from recording and performing. Since then JOE has continued to write and perform new material both solo and in collaboration with various musicians and friends. JOE LALLY entered the studio to record these 13 tracks, and his follow-up to 2006's "There to here". This record is an eclectic mix of the different styles that influenced JOE, and is also the end product of a collaboration with different friends like Ian MacKaye, Guy Picciotto, Eddie Janny and many more.

MOUTHEATER - Lot lizard (2007/THRASHED) 7" 4,50 €
NOISE/POST-HARDCORE. Norfolk, VA's MOUTHEATER bring a heavy, noisy style of rock that takes no prisoners and doesn't make any attempts to be pretty or melodic. They play a soundtrack to misery somewhat resembling THE JESUS LIZARD or early MELVINS.

Helmed by the master rhythm section of Chris Hakius (drums) and Al Cisneros (bass) (both formerly of SLEEP) "Pilgrimage" contains 4 brand new songs featuring the gropus unique use of riff, cadence and chant. Lyrical themes address the processes of mind, psychic reality, astral and causal planes of being, and the nature of the soul. "Pilgrimage" was recorded and engineered by Steve Albini and produced by the band. Of particular note is how much the song-writing has developed and in turn makes the dynamics of the songs much more intensely powerful. STONER-ROCK. Grow your hair long, put this album into the stereo in your valiant charger, light up a fat one and drive along the desert road. THE QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE have again managed to balance bogan with arty intelligence whilst side stepping indie pretentiousness, this album is heavy that we can all dig. This album has the raunchy, heavy riffs of "Rated r" mixed with the effects processing of songs for the deaf, making it truly an album worthy of a five star rating. Truly a magnificent album. Truly astounding material. Extrem limited 3x10" edition packed in a book-alike coversleeve and coves with an additional track. Highly recommended! Buy it as soon as you god damn can. You won't regret it.

QUI - Love's miracle (2007/IPECAC) LP 14,- €
NOISE-ROCK. When planets align, skeptics worry about disasters and possibly even the apocalypse. Those same folks may be just as worried to hear that singer David Yow has emerged from his 8 year musical exile. The notorious, psychotic, and brilliant singer had fronted two influential noise rock groups, SCRATCH ACID and THE JESUS LIZARD. Yow recently aligned himself with QUI, a noise, punk, and experimental duo who are a perfect fit for his frenzied and colorful style. The result is "Love's miracle", a rollercoaster of heavy-hitting audio assaults that proves that sometimes skeptics are wrong. "Love's miracle" sounds as psychotic and slimy as any other post-BUTTHOLE SURFERS filth.

BLEACH BOYS - Puke wave (2007/RABID DOG) 7" 4,50 €
PUNK. Hailing from TX, this power trio spits out 4 quality surf-punk jams like JFA, AGENT ORANGE, and surf stuff like VENTURES also. They even cover "Pipeline". This is a good slab of classic early '80s California punk-rock, there's no better way to put it; it has just a raw and gritty sound. Really great recording here too, with tons and tons of awesome reverb on everything it seems. Check it out if you're looking for something fun as well as killer!

BRIGGS, THE - Back to higher ground (2007/DRASTIC PLASTIC/SIDE ONE DUMMY) LPcol 11,50 € / CD 13,- €
PUNK-ROCK. THE BRIGGS returned to the studio and have delivered their most ambitious album to date. Once again teaming up with Joe Gittleman (The Mighty Mighty Bosstones) "Back to higher ground" marks a step up in song writing for the Los Angeles based four piece. Fans of THE BRIGGS' previous efforts will find that "Back to higher ground" still packs plenty of punk-rock punch. The anthems and huge sing along choruses are still present. Take the SWINGING UTTERS, add some DROPKICK MURPHYS and stir in a little old school BUSINESS, and you have THE BRIGGS! Limited colored vinyl in stock!

BUFF MEDWAYS - The xfm sessions (2007/DAMAGED GOODS) LP 12,- €
GRAGE-ROCK. WILD BILLY CHILDISH & THE BUFF MEDWAYS split up in 2006 after releasing 4 albums in 5 years. During that period they were regular guests on John Kennedys XFM show "Exposure" doing 3 studio session and a live broadcast "Exposure live" from the Barfly club in London.This album captures the best bits of those XFM sessions, side one is all from the Barfly gig including one of the funniest mouthy stage invaders ever and side 2 is all tracks live in the studio. John Kennedy has done the sleeve notes and Billy compiled the album. The first session features Graham Coxon (BLUR) on drums.

DEUTSCH-PUNK. Ein Wahnsinn: das langersehnte Gesamtwerk der unübertroffenen Combo aus Frankfurt mit ihren politischen Zeitbombentexten ist nun endlich via Weird System erschienen. Neben den beiden Stücken vom "Soundtracks zum Untergang", gibt es die ultrarare "Tradition" 7" (ebenso AGR), die MLP der KILLERPRALINEN, aus denen MIDDLE CLASS FANTASIES 1982 hervorgegangen sind, und 5 bis dato unveröffentlichte Stücke vertreten, die mit Stefan und Elf von SLIME zusammen eingespielt wurden. Wie für Weird System typisch gibt es zusätzlich ein sehr informatives Booklet/Inlay das kaum Fragen offen lässt! Diese limitierte Erstpressung kommt im farbigen Vinyl!

OBSERVERS, THE - So what's left now (2007/YELLOW DOG) LP 10, - €
PUNK-ROCK. There classic longplayer got finally re-pressed. This album made the majority of the top ten best albums of 2004 in MRR and for obvious reasons, this band is incredible. THE OBSERVERS from Portland play not hardcore, no they play melancholy singalong punk-rock! They're combines the darker and more experimental aspects of bands like the DEAD KENNEDYS and WARSAW and other late 70's UK art punk with the anthemic choruses of LA's YOUTH BRIGADE yet sounding nothing like any of those bands. Put these guys on a bill with THE STICHES, MANIKIN and THE DISTRACTION and the art punks will go nuts! This is an awesome record!

HARDCORE. One of Europe's best loved and hardest working hardcore bands BLACK FRIDAY are back and this is no whimpering attempt at a 2nd full-length album. The band has never sounded as tight, hard and full of intent. Whilst the recorded output has been slow the band hasn't slowed down with constant shows and touring including the split 7" release with their friends from DEATH BEFORE DISHONOUR. The title track is a pounding opener which brings all their influences to the floor - JUDGE, YOUTH OF TODAY with a bit of the CRO-MAGS thrown in. On "The pursuit of happiness" BLACK FRIDAY 29 evolving their sound without a total departure from what won us all over.

HARDCORE. Following up their debut 7", Washington, DC's COKE BUST bring another 7" of pure thrashing hardcore to the floor. Fast, pissed, DC straight edge hardcore that straight don't give a fuck. Influenced by IWHAT HAPPENS NEXT? and TEAR IT UP with some negative lyrics and a pissed-off attitude, their new 7" has 6 new hardcore blasts. Speed- the temporal kind- has a lot to do with COKKE BUST's aesthetic.

DEADLINE - 8/2/82 (2007/DISCHORD) MCD 8,- €
HARDCORE. DEADLINE were a part of the early Washington, DC scene, having 3 songs appear on the "Flex your head" comp and featured a young Brendan Canty on drums, who would later go on to be in RITES OF SPRING and FUGAZI. These 11 tracks were recorded in 1982 by Ian MacKaye and Don Zientara and have been out of print for many years until the release of this disc, which has been pressed in limited quantities.

DEATH - Human (2007/BACK ON BLACK) LPcol 15,- €
DEATH-METAL. DEATH was unquestionably one of the, and arguably the primary innovators of the death-metal genre, but it was with this album that DEATH truly built their legacy as one of the greatest metal bands ever. This 4th release marked a new, progressive shift with the arrival of guitarist Paul (CYNIC) and bassist Steve (SADUS). Aside from their 1st few albums, DEATH has always had a more unique and innovative sound than most other death-metal bands. Chuck also writes much more intelligent, thought out, and realistic lyrics. If you're interested in technical metal or death-metal, you can't go wrong with this album. It's still DEATH but with more technical elements and better musicianship! Comes in nice gatefold and colored vinyl!

DEATH - Spiritual healing (2007/BACK ON BLACK) LPcol 15,- €
DEATH-METAL. This seems to be DEATH's forgotten album. From the opening track to the scorching closer DEATH's 3rd album "Spiritual healing" is a bit on the progressive side, but the band were able to maintain their trademark death formula as they would continue to do so on later releases such as "Human" and "Symbolic" (which were more technical sounding). Chuck Schuldiner's vocals are just outstanding, as he and fellow guitarist James Murphy (TESTAMENT, OBITUARY) rip out dueling guitar solos after another. The rhythm section by bassist Terry Butler (who would later join SIX FEET UNDER) and drummer Bill Andrews is just strong and fantastic. If you're serious about metal you'll probably enjoy this album.

DEFIANT HEARTS - Arlington (2007/6131) CD 12,- €

KHANN conjure up memories of bands like PG. 99, ISIS, REVERSAL OF MAN, OLD MAN GLOOM, ORCHID and DISCORDANCE AXIS on this debut full-length, with lyrical roots planted in vegan activism and political awareness. While keeping the same snotty and fast hardcore 'tude, these guys throw in some more metalic riffs and melody, with 2 new members. MADBALL - Demonstrating my style (2007/CARGO) LP 12,50 €
NYC-HARDCORE. Though the band has released 2 releases ("Ball of destruction" and "Droppin many suckas") it wasn't until the release of their debut album on Roadrunner, "Set it off" that the band edged towards a solid feel to their music and acquiring a strong fanbase, which led the band to become one of the most exciting and promising New York hardcore acts. In 1996 the band has regrouped and recorded 14 outstanding and true-to-the-heart tales of life and the hardships one must face, juiced up by singer Cricien's real life stories. "Demonstrating my style" is one of the better and probally MADBALL's best release. For any hardcore fan who doesnt know MADBALL or somebody new to the scene this album is a must have.

NEUROSIS - Through silver in blood (1996/RELAPSE) DoLPcol 17,- €
PROGRESSIVE-HARDCORE. "Through silver in blood", the band's 5th full-length album combines straight-ahead metal, vocals that tread lightly into hardcore territory, epic structuring (4 songs either approach or exceed 10 min.), and actual dynamics. "Through silver in blood" is an immensly heavy, trance-inducing, and chaotic roller-coaster ride through walls of static, distorted, thickly layered guitars, bizarre samples and spoken-word weirdness, and occasional tranquility. The lyrics are a bit, well, twee, but that's not terribly unsurprising on an album so top-heavy with mystical topics. NEUROSIS are definitive of musical taste and integrity. NK 6 - Yellow beauty (2007/THRASHBASTARD) 7" 4,- €
HARDCORE. Great new tour 7" from one of Japans finest - NK 6. This 7" has 6 songs of manic japanese hardcore-trash. They're mix their classic japanese style with some of melody and a totally crazed approach. Think of bands like GAUZE, DON DON, BLAZE, and GOGOOL PLEX. Fucking awesome stuff here, and limited to 500. Check it out or miss out!

NO HARM DONE - The start of something new (2007/ANCHORLESS) MCD 5,- €

EMO/INDIE-ROCK. This fall, critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Chris Carrabba will return to his roots with the release of "The shade of poison trees", DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL's 5th album for longtime label Vagrant Records. The 12 track album is a slight improvement over last years "Dusk and summer". The improvement comes from the moments where Carrabba returns to acoustic form, with the full band songs still won't disappoint. This record is supposedly all about DASHBOARD's roots and they are certainly apparent. But a musician can remain in tune with his roots ands grow at the same time. Carrabba's growth (and presumably that of his faceless band) drips all over this record like the apple drips red poison on its cover. And despite a few obnoxious lapses, restraint proves to be a winning approach.

POST-ROCK. The state of modern rock 'n' roll is at risk. The scene is flooded with bands that put no effort into originality and stage presence. RAIN - La vache qui rit (2007/DISCHORD) MCD 8,- €
EMOCORE. Originally recorded and released in 1990, this 6 song MCD contains the entire recording session that was used to produce the track "Worlds at war" which was used on the "State of the nation" Dischord compilation. RAIN was part of the mid-late '80s Revolution Summer scene in Washington, DC, and their sound is reflective of that, bringing to mind bands like RITES OF SPRING and EMBRACE. Highly recommend!

POST-ROCK. TUSK includes members of PELICAN, YOUNG WIDOWS and KAYO DOT. This is a 4 song feeding frenzy of eerie power dirges, echo-chamber intrigue, and soaring space rock finesse. Like JESUS LIZARD kicking it with THROBBING GRISTLE and BAUHAUS. TUSK blend grind, atmospheric metal, black-metal, and a myriad of other styles into one great release.

STREET-PUNK. DOWN AND OUTS are amongst a rare collection of bands who get better and better with each release. "Friday nights, monday mournings" is a journey through the weekend and has a firm stamp of their city and the characters living within it. Its part THE CLASH, part BUZZCOCKS blended together with a shared love of Bay-Area punk like early RANCID. Those 12 stomping tracks are real - no fake American accents or wannabe delusions. If punk still exists in 2007 its certainly breeding out of the forgotten estates of Liverpool and not fashionista magazines or shitty package tours. If you've not heard the DOWN AND OUTS yet - sorry for you! Highly recommended!

FIFTH HOUR HERO / THIS IS MY FIST - split (2007/NO IDEA) 7"col 4,50 €
POST-EMO-PUNK. THIS IS MY FIST start this nice split release off with kicking out a track of their brand of energetic, melodic, mid-paced, female-fronted pop-punk that brings to mind DISCOUNT and TILT while Montreal's FIFTH HOUR HERO play a similar style, but lean more towards a HOT WATER MUSIC and SAMIAM influenced sound. Colored vinyl in stock!

FISHNET STALKERS - s/t (2007/REPTILIAN) 7" 4,50 €
PUNK-ROCK. Baltimore's current kings of sleazy punk 'n' roll, FISHNET STALKERS, bring 4 tracks of late '70s inspired punk-rock music that could have been found at CBGB playing alongside bands like the DEAD BOYS, THE STOOGESS and the NEW YORK DOLLS.

POST-PUNK. This is the material that would become JOY DIVISION. The classic WARSAW recordings from the pre-JOY DIVISION art punk combo WARSAW. This album features 17 raw, but respectable cuts, including 5 bonus tracks (constitute the band's earliest demo, from july 1977). All in all: worth it for fans of the era or obsessive, cranky, JOY DIVISION purists who have to possess every shred of music the band ever dallied with. This is a very good "punk" album and a very interesting JOY DIVISION album. Highly recommended.

HARDCORE. CITIZENS PATROL's debut to vinyl. Hailing from the dikes of The Netherlands, CITIZENS PATROL blast out 10 tracks of early '80s inspired hardcore on this 7". Short songs that never let up for one second, the whole time. The influence is obvious- early 80's hardcore, but they add so much fresh energy and drive to it all. The songs take no prisoners, bringing to mind current bands like GOVERNMENT WARNING, DIRECT CONTROL and WASTED TIME. European pressing on Crucial Attack comes in a limited colored vinyl and a hardcover!

DEATH-METAL. This album clearly shows how amazing a guitarist and songwriter Chuck Schuldiner is. "Individual thought patterns" may be loosely classifiable as death-metal, but such a genre-bending masterpiece as this one goes far beyond the confines of one genre. Here death combine elements of death, thrash, and progressive metal to create a very heavy album that also boasts a potent groove. "Individual thought patterns" is a magnificent balancing act that blends heaviness, technical precision, and top-notch songcraft. The late Chuck Schuldiner's vocals blend screaming and singing for a fairly unique style. The guitar riffs aren't really all that heavy, but they're fast, precise and cruncy, backed up by lightning-fast drumming and flowing bass lines. This album is perfect for death-metal neophytes and recommended for fans of death-thrash hybrids.

HARDCORE-PUNK. Official reissue of a classic 1982 Wisconsin single. Fast, pummeling and unique hardcore. Before their full-lengths that would be eventually released by Touch And Go, Milwaukee's DIE KREUZEN recorded and released these 6 tracks in 1982. Those tracks were a lot more raw and punk and less experimental than their later works, using more speed and rage than what they became known for. Reproduced cover on yellow and white stock, just like the original. Includes lyric sheet insert.

They were an amazing obscure '80s NYC hardcore outfit with some of the best female vocals ever put to hardcore. This is aggressive rough and tough sounding hardcore-punk with a "fuck you" attitude that has been overlooked for way too long. This LP chronicles all of the music recorded by the band during their brief existence between 1982 and 1984. It includes the very rare 7" from 1983 a 1982 demo tape plus a live set from CBGB's. Limited to 1000!

DEATH-METAL. "The end complete" is arguably one of OBITUARY's best albums as well as being their best written album too. John Tardy is one of the best death-metal vocalists of all time. His vocals on here are some of the most harsh, sickest, gutteral, and best sounding on here. Lead guitarist Allen West and rhythm guitarist Trevor Peres are both great guitarists. They both rip, tear, and slaughter through every song with heavy chainsaw like buzzing riffs, and Allen's solos are just absolutely fast, ripping, and wild throughout. Frank Watkins's bass is pretty good, and Donald Tardy's drumming is just great on here as well with plenty of great double bass kick action. So anyways if you're a fan of OBITUARY, death-metal you seriously gotta get your hands on this death-metal classic known as "The end complete". This is classic essential death-metal. Enjoy and happy headbanging.
