BAD SPORTS - Kings of the weekend LP/CD 12.90/11.50 EUR
GARAGE PUNK. BAD SPORTS were formed in 2007 in Denton, Texas by Orville Neeley, Daniel Fried and Gregory Rutherford, who currently also play in the HIGH TENSION WIRES, OBN IIIs, the live incarnation of MIND SPIDERS, WICCANS, VIDEO, and many more. Their debut self titled full-length was released in late 2009 on Douchemaster Records following a string of singles, and showed the band's songwriting mature into a more refined pop territory without losing their edge. "Kings of the weekend", the band's debut for Dirtnap Records, picks up right where the last one left off, showing a penchant for highly developed Pop songwriting skills mixed with the speedy Garage Punk/Pop sound of their first LP. A great recording by Mark Ryan of The MARKED MEN/MIND SPIDERS fame really compliments the band's sound, making this one of our absolute faves of 2011, as well as the 4th LP in a row Dirtnap has released by Texas bands. (2011/DIRTNAP)
-----------------------------------------------------------
BANQUETS - Top bottom, top shelf LPcol 11.50 EUR
PUNK. "Top Button, Bottom Shelf" is the debut full-length from Jersey City, NJ's BANQUETS. For fans of The GET UP KIDS, The LOVED ONES and The GASLIGHT ANTHEM. LP includes digital download. (2011/BLACK NUMBERS)
-----------------------------------------------------------
BEYOND PINK - The new black LP 13.50 EUR
PUNK. The latest achievements of the Swedish girls. It’s probably their best sounding recordings so far. The new album features more melodic and catchy parts than before, influenced by Swedish own Trallpunk and bands like ASTA KASK, STREBERRS or PUKE. But the songs haven’t lost their original power and anger which was characteristic for their previous albums. Brand new 12" containing 10 songs. (2011/EMANCYPUNX)
-----------------------------------------------------------
BLACKLISTED - We're unstoppable LPcol 11.50 EUR
HARDCORE. A body-smashing collection of early and rare material from Philadelphia true-grit Hardcore obliterators BLACKLISTED. A furious assault of infectious mosh breaks, total urgency, and powerful lyrics. Includes the band's out-of-print ''Our Youth Is Wasted'' recordings, as well as their hard-to-find early demos. Now available on colored vinyl. Vinyl version includes digital download. (2011/DEATHWISH)
-----------------------------------------------------------
BURNT CROSS - Break the law, not the poor 7'' 5.50 EUR
PUNK. Brighton, UK's BURNT are back with another 4 tracks of crushing Anarcho-Punk that by now you should be familiar with. This is their follow-up to their well received split 7" with the almighty CRESS. Not since the 80s has a band captured this style so perfectly with their sincere convictions and catchy tunes. Just as meaning full as it is a good listen on the turntable. If you like bands like CRASS, CONFLICT, HIT PARADE and ALATERNATIVE then this modern day masterpiece is calling you. (2011/LOUD PUNK)
-----------------------------------------------------------
BURY YOUR DEAD - Mosh 'n' Roll LP 18.90 EUR
HARDCORE. "Mosh 'n' Roll" marks the return of vocalist Mat Bruso to the fold as the band deliver their first record since departing Victory and coming to Mediaskare. Despite the change in vocalist and labels, the band maintains its metallic edge along the same lines as bands like KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, MURDER DEATH KILL and BETRAYAL. (2011/MEDIASKARE)
-----------------------------------------------------------
CHUCK RAGAN - Covering ground LP/CD 13.90/11.90 EUR
SINGER-SONGWRITER. The latest album from the longtime frontman of HOT WATER MUSIC sees him continuing in the tradition of 2007’s "Feast or famine" and 2009’s "Gold country" while also further developing his unique blend of Folk music, Americana and Punkrock, proving once again that Ragan is one of the most honest and versatile singer-songwriters today. Featuring longtime collaborator Jon Gaunt on Fiddle and Joe Ginsberg on upright bass in addition to guest appearances from the GASLIGHT ANTHEM’s Brian Fallon, Blind Melon’s Chris Thorn, Squirrel Nut Zippers’ Chris Phillips, Frank Turner and Audra Mae, the album is the sonic equivalent to Jack Kerouac’s On The Road and could only be written by someone who has spent the last seventeen years traversing the Country playing music and lifestyle that entails. (2011/SIDE ONE DUMMY)
-----------------------------------------------------------
CONDOMINIUM - Warm home LP 12.50 EUR
HARDCORE. After releasing four 7"s over the course of the past four years (2 self released, plus 1 on Deer Healer and 1 on Fashionable Idiots), CONDOMINIUM finally deliver their debut LP. On this record, this St Paul, MN-based Hardcore band gives us 7 tracks spanning 22 minutes. The record alternates between melodic disciplined musicianship and blasts of chaos. Similarly the lyrics explore the contradiction between nihilism and fatalist positivity. Past reviewers have compared their music to BLACK FLAG, JESUS LIZARD, and BRAINBOMBS as well as the old "AmRep" sound. 752 copies pressed. (2011/DIY)
-----------------------------------------------------------
DAMNABLE EXCITE ZOMBIES! - Discography 1990-1996 CD 9.90 EUR
THRASHCORE. Japanese Hardcore Thrash brilliance. Contains just about everything they ever recorded: split 7" flexi with AMEN, 'Suck Your Soul' 7" EP, split 7" with TOXIC NOISE, plus several compilation tracks, unreleased out-takes from the 'Suck Your Soul' EP and TOXIC NOISE split sessions, and a recording of their reunion show from December 2010 in their hometown of Kanazawa! Around 71 minutes of some of the most intense Hardcore Thrash to ever emerge from the Land of the Rising Sun! (2011/NOT VERY NICE)
-----------------------------------------------------------
DOMESTIC WAR / IN THE DAY - The split program 7''col 4.90 EUR
HARDCORE. Two different styles collide on this 7" with DOMESTIC WAR bringing a '90s upstate New York sound comparable to EARTH CRISIS or BURIED ALIVE but cover BLINK 182 while Erie, PA's IN THE DAY play a poppy Punk sound similar to NEW FOUND GLORY and cover 100 DEMONS. 7" includes digital download. (2011/OFF THE MAP)
-----------------------------------------------------------
FLESH EATERS, THE - Original 1978 demos 7'' 7.90 EUR
PUNK. One of the earliest Los Angeles, CA Punk bands, The FLESH EATERS formed in 1977 and soon after recorded these demos in 1978. Accompanying the only original member Chris D, the lineup featured members of X, The PLUGZ, LOS LOBOS and the BLASTERS, playing snotty, stripped down guitar-driven Punkrock. Limited to 500 copies left over from Record Store Day 2011. (2011/TKO)
-----------------------------------------------------------
FULL OF HELL - Roots of earth are consuming... LP 13.90 EUR
HARDCORE. FULL OF HELL's debut 12" is a crushing journey through a sonic wasteland ridden with churning breaks, blast beats, doom riffs and exclusive noise. Recorded at Developing Nations by the great Kevin Bernseten. For fans of INTEGRITY, TRAP THEM and CRUSED! Limited edition of 500 copies with gatefold cover! (2011/A389)
-----------------------------------------------------------
GERM ATTAK - Fear of the unknown LP 12.50 EUR
PUNK. Ottawa, Canada's GERM ATTAK are back with their 4th and final LP. It is a follow up to their fantastic LP ''Cruxshadow'' which was labeled by many as one of the best Punk records of last year. This LP keeps on par with the last LP veering more away from their earlier more raw stuff and continuing with tuneful and catchy full on Punk like greats like The PARTISANS, The EJECTED, ABRASIVE WHEELS and GBH. (2011/LOUD PUNK)
-----------------------------------------------------------
H2O - California 7''col 4.90 EUR
HARDCORE. This EP features three songs that pay respect to their roots. This is the first installment of three 7" records featuring three California bands. They cover Rancid's "Journey To The End Of The East Bay," Social Distortion's "Sick Boy" and an exclusive cover of Circle Jerks' "Beverly Hills." 7" includes digital download. (2011/BRIDGE NINE)
-----------------------------------------------------------
HASTE THE DAY - Haste The Day vs. Haste The Day CD+DVD 14.90 EUR
METALCORE. The "Haste The Day Vs Haste The Day" CD+DVD contains 16 live tracks from the band's stellar six-album career and a bonus DVD featuring the band's final sold out hometown show filmed at the Egyptian Room in Indianapolis, IN on March 11, 2011. An essential piece for any HASTE THE DAY fan, the performance includes original band members Jimmy Ryan, Brennan Chaulk, Michael Murphy, Devin Chaulk as well as later members. "Haste The Day Vs Haste The Day" is the band's triumphant farewell; a bold exclamation point to a career that has inspired a legion of loyal followers. (2011/TOOTH & NAIL)
-----------------------------------------------------------
HEX DISPENSERS - Razorcake sister series 7'' 4.50 EUR
PUNK-ROCK. HEX DISPENSERS may be obsessed with the dark shadows of the underworld, but they're far from trapped by these interests. Their lyrics speak truths on the most relatable levels, and, at times, are not restricted by reality. While their music sears out of your speakers like an egg cracked onto a Texan sidewalk in the middle of summer, the sizzling and eventual burning is transformed into hauntingly beautiful male and female harmonies. This record features 2 originals and a YOUNG OFFENDERS cover. Includes download code! (2011/RAZORCAKE)
-----------------------------------------------------------
JACK OBLIVIAN - Rat city LP 13.90 EUR
GARAGE. Though he doesn’t get the attention of his OBLIVIANS bandmate Greg Cartwright, Jack Yarber, aka Jack Oblivian, has a growing catalog of strong recordings as well, of which ''Rat City'' is the latest. Yarber’s mojo works in much the same vein as his compadre’s, with a similar emphasis on garage R&B (the title tune, “Caboose Jump,” Slim Green‘s “Old Folks Boogie”) and no-frills Pop (“Girl On the Beach,” “Jealous Heart,” “Girl With the Bruises”) that sounds like Mink DeVille with a $20 budget. He also adds some mild psychedelia with “Moses and Me” and a cheeky yet reverent cover of Billy Swan‘s “Lover Please!” Working with a variety of musicians (including fellow traveler John Paul Keith), Yarber eschews fancy production or any kind of slick veneer – every tune sounds like he and the musicians set up in whatever room was available and just went for it. On top of all the other goodies on display here, Yarber’s plainspoken rasp fits every song perfectly. ''Rat City'' may sound ominous in its title, but it’s definitely a cool town. (2011/BIG LEGAL MESS)
-----------------------------------------------------------
LOW PLACES - Spiritual treatment LP 13.90 EUR
HARDCORE. Intense power-violence influenced hardcore from Los Angeles loaded with breakneck fasts, crushing slows and early Earache style riffin... plus a Neanderthal cover to boot! COmes with a 24x24 poster insert of the cover collage by Szymon Siech!! For Fans of No COmment, Neanderthal and Entombed! (2011/A389)
-----------------------------------------------------------
ME FIRST & THE GIMME GIMMES - Sing in Jjapanese LP/CD 9.90/7.90 EUR
PUNK. In keeping with the theme of their last release, ME FIRST AND THE GIMME GIMMES decided to tackle the proud musical tradition of another country, rather than a specific genre. This time they set their sights on the land of the rising sun, Japan. What a pairing. Japan is the birthplace of Karaoke for Pete's sake. And the GIMMES are the most renowned cover band around, if not for their actual musical chops, at least for their side endeavors (NOFX, LAGWAGON, SWINGIN'UTTERS, FOO FIGHTERS). (2011/FAT WRECK)
-----------------------------------------------------------
MEATMEN, THE - Happy fucking easter, asshole! 7'' 7.90 EUR
PUNK. The legendary MEATMEN return with one track pulled from the "Dead Dave Show" and 2 GERMS covers from a forthcoming GERMS tribute record. Limited to 500 copies left over from Record Store Day 2011. (2011/TKO)
-----------------------------------------------------------
MEMORIAL - Mile high city MLP 10.90 EUR
POST-HARDCORE. Featuring singer/songwriter Peter Appleby (RENEE HEARTFELT, CCOUNT ME OUT) as well as past members of STRIKING DISTANCE and AMERICAN NIGHT MARE, MEMORIAL play Post-Hardcore not unlike FAR, RIVAL SCHOOLS, 'Jupiter'-era CAVE IN or FAILURE. This new effort shows MEMORIAL further exploring the depths of warm, reverby atmospheres and the mellower side of Appleby's vocal timbres. Combining these new textures with bursts of sharp melody and thick, rocking Post-Hardcore, "Mile High City" offers an intimate listen into a band paying homage to its influences while stepping out on its own. (2011/RUN FOR COVER)
-----------------------------------------------------------
MODERN LIFE IS WAR - My love. My way. LPcol 12.50 EUR
HARDCORE. Before there was "Witness", "My love my way" was championed by many as one of the best contemporary hardcore albums in recent memory. With its youthful musical passion and moving lyrical beauty, "My love my way" set the wave of MODERN LIFE IS WAR in motion. With its long awaited reissue, this now classic debut album boasts revamped packaging, bonus tracks, as well as a complete remastering job, breathing new life into a release that brought MODERN LIFE IS WAR to the forefront of the hardcore/punk community. Now available again on colored vinyl. (2007/LIFELINE)
-----------------------------------------------------------
MODERN LIFE IS WAR - Same 7''col 4.70 EUR
HARDCORE. Now available again on colored vinyl. Debut 7" from these hard working Iowa boys. Melodic Hardcore with lyrics that will remind you why you got involved in Hardcore in the first place. This record will send your fist into the air and set your vocal chords on scream. (2003/LIFE LINE)
-----------------------------------------------------------
MODERN LIFE IS WAR - Witness LPcol 12.50 EUR
OLD-SCHOOL HARDCORE. MODERN LIFE IS WAR are a uniquely powerful punk/hardcore band from the small rural town of Marshalltown, Iowa. Witness captures nine inspiring hardcore punk songs. Now available again on vinyl! (2008/LIFELINE)
-----------------------------------------------------------
MOGWAI - Earth division MLP/MCD 11.90/7.50 EUR
POST-ROCK. Scottish experimental Rock institution MOGWAI follow-up their Sub Pop debut "Hardcore Will Never Die But You Will" with the "Earth Division" EP. These 4 tracks highlight a more subdued side of MOGWAI, with 3 quietly plaintive piano and string-infused tracks, plus the fuzz-drenched haze of "Drunk And Crazy''. (2011/SUB POP)
-----------------------------------------------------------
NAUGHTY GIRLS - Bad habits 7'' 5.50 EUR
HARDCORE- PUNK. Released on SCHOOL JERKS label Bad Vibrations, this is NAUGHTY GIRLS’ debut 7" recorded by Yannick Sarrazin from OMEGAS. These are some the songs featured on the their demo rerecorded. Just great snotty mid-tempo Punk, reminicent of SICK PLEASURE or CHICKENHEAD. The entire first pressing is strictly on black vinyl. (2011/BAD VIBRATIONS)
-----------------------------------------------------------
NAYSAYER - Laid to rest LPcol 11.50 EUR
HARDCORE. Richmond, VA has a long tradition of strong and vital Hardcore outfits, and in a scene that puts out that much quality consistently, there is only one surefire way to ignite a crowd: by pouring your heart and being into every set. Debuting with the EP "No Remorse" in 2009 and continuing on with the "Down But Not Out" EP earlier this year, fall 2011 brings NAYSAYER's first full-length to Reaper, "Laid To Rest." Get it, learn it and go experience it live. LP includes digital download. (2011/REAPER)
-----------------------------------------------------------
NAYSAYER - No remorse CD 9.90 EUR
HARDCORE. From Richmond VA’s decades deep Hardcore tradition comes NAYSAYER, the area’s newest offering to the international stage. Following the footsteps of old school legends such as 4 WALLS FALLING and newer heavyweights DOWN TO NOTHING, NAYSAYER’s mission is to keep the faith and make their hometown proud. Their 4-song demo and heartfelt live performances are the reason Reaper Records invited them to be one of the participants on their ''Mercy For None'' compilation. Their brutal signature sound, coupled with their youthful enthusiasm for Hardcore makes them a strong addition to the ever-diverse Reaper roster. This spring sees their debut EP ''No Remorse'', also released on Reaper Records. Now available on CD with the songs from the "Down But Not Out" EP as bonus tracks. (2011/REAPER)
-----------------------------------------------------------
PATHOLOGY - Awaken to the suffering CD 11.90 EUR
DEATH METAL. In the summer of 2010, PATHOLOGY unleashed "Legacy Of The Ancients," a gore-drenched assault oozing with vulgar filth which was equally esteemed by fans and critics. Despite several lineup changes and an unfortunate van accident, PATHOLOGY soldiered on, gaining more notoriety and continued to spread their straightforward Death Metal alongside some of the biggest names in the genre since releasing their Victory Records debut. PATHOLOGY's roots in the underground American Death Metal movement run deep and will broaden even further with this summer's vile follow up, "Awaken To The Suffering." With explosive drums, thick and tight guitar work, and crushing vocals, PATHOLOGY once again aims to create a sound that is as dark and vicious as possible. (2011/VICTORY)
-----------------------------------------------------------
PENTIMENTO - Wrecked MLP 10.50 EUR
INDIE-ROCK. From Buffalo, NY, PENTIMENTO strive to create a sound focused on the raw emotion of the Punk scene that birthed them. While staying true to the roots and influences of their upbringing, what sets PENTIMENTO apart is the sheer honesty and authenticity you take away when listening to their music. The goal of PENTIMENTO has always been to create passionate music that they could share with others and to connect with the listener on a personal level. PENTIMENTO entered the studio earlier this year to record their newest EP, "Wrecked". Their process of writing and recording "Wrecked" was to weed out any possibility of artificial factors or “studio magic”. The goal was to bring the most genuine and real instance to the listener with the hopes that the same experience that is put across live comes across on their recordings. PENTIMENTO’s "Wrecked" has surpassed that goal with one of the most honest EPs to come out this year. 6 songs for fans of HOT WATER MUSIC, SMALL BROWN BIKE and POLAR BEAR CLUB! (2011/PANIC)
-----------------------------------------------------------
POWERWOLVES - You won’t find peace LPcol 12.90 EUR
HARDCORE. Hailing from the Merrimack Valley region of Massachusetts, POWERWOLVES unleash their own brand of heavy, metallic Hardcore. With the release of their demo in the spring of 2010, POWERWOLVES played any and every show they were offered, appearing nonstop throughout the Northeast and garnering themselves a solid following. "You won’t find peace" displays everything that you’d come to love in a Hardcore band - brutality, heaviness, aggression, and intelligent lyrics. "You won’t find peace" from beginning to end is sure to wreck your life. It’s only a matter of time before POWERWOLVES find themselves referenced alongside bands like RINGWORM, The HOPE CONSPIRACY, and PULLING TEETH, as they are just that good. Vinyl includes digital download. (2011/PANIC)
-----------------------------------------------------------
RETURNERS, THE - Lost souls CD 10.90 EUR
PUNK. Formed in 2007, Southern California's THE RETURNERS present their debut full-length, which is inspired by early Death Rock and Punk bands like The DAMNED, DANZIG, and "Art Of Drowning"-era AFI. (2011/NOTHING BUT A NIGHTMARE)
-----------------------------------------------------------
REVELING, THE - Tributaries LPcol 11.50 EUR
PUNK. While it is no doubt easy on the ears, it's certainly not your typical three-chord affair either. "Tributaries" is textured and rich in melody, layered guitars, and sweet harmonies punctuated by background "whoa oh ohs" to flesh out the band's robust sound. Still, the LP remains rough and raw around the edges, staying true to The REVELING's proletariat roots. There's an unmistakable swing and bounce to it, embracing the Americana-tinged spirit of forefathers like SOCIAL DISTORTION while incorporating Rock 'n' Roll elements from Punk contemporaries like The GASLIGHT ANTHEM or The LOVED ONES. (2011/BLACK NUMBERS)
-----------------------------------------------------------
SAMIAM - Trips LP 15.90 EUR
EMO/POST-PUNK. Formed in 1988 and hailing from Berkeley, CA, SAMIAM released the major label albums ''Astray'' and ''Whatever's Got You Down'' then signed to Hopeless in 2000. They have toured with bands acts such as Bad Religion, Hot Water Music, Millencolin and Blink-182. Launching from the same late-80s do-it-yourself Punk circles that spawned bands like Green Day, SAMIAM's distinctive blend of melodic phrases atop a Hardcore foundation found the band standing out from the typical fare of the time. "Trips" is SAMIAM's 8th studio album, their first release in over five years. It was recorded in Green Day's studio, Jingletown, with producer Chris Dugan during the spring of 2011. (2011/HOPELESS)
-----------------------------------------------------------
SEAWEED - Service deck 7''col 4.50 EUR
POST-PUNK. SEAWEED blew everyone away when they played The Fest. They were the last band after an exhausting weekend, and yet it was still such a joyous, exuberant finale. The crowd was practically a who's who of folks from other bands, arm in arm, singing along to every song. After everyone had already given their all, here they were for the hurrah! Afterwards, more than one SEAWEED dude said "so I hear you want to put out a record?" and they seemed genuinely taken aback. Ha. This is one of our favorite bands from the 90's... and I once drove 10 hours to see them play with SUPERCHUNK in ...1989? I forget the date. Anyhow, the point is that I am overjoyed to be putting out a record of new songs by SEAWEED, right here, right now, and still singing along! (2011/NO IDEA)
-----------------------------------------------------------
SOCIAL CIRCKLE - Expiration date 7'' 4.90 EUR
HARDCORE-PUNK. Five tracks of intense early 80s Hardcore mixed with late 70s Punk from all around the globe. More anger and speed than previous releases, SOCIAL CIRCKLE manages to exit on their most manic note while still maintaining the melody and catchy hooks of their 'Static Eyes' 7". Think ripping Hardcore with songs you can actually remember. This is the follow-up to 2009's 'City Shock' LP. This 7" is the band's final offering. (2011/SIDE TWO)
-----------------------------------------------------------
TAKE OFFENSE - Tables will turn CD 10.90 EUR
HARDCORE. Now available on CD. With a sound undeniably influenced by the Venice, CA style of Hardcore (Suicidal Tendencies, No Mercy, Beowulf), TAKE OFFENSE is a refreshing and welcomed addition to a saturated market of cookie-cutter Hardcore bands. After a self-released cassette tape and EP entitled "Peace in death", as well as the "Happiness under chains" EP released on Double Or Nothing Records, TAKE OFFENSE now release a full-length album entitled "Tables will turn" on Reaper Records. The record features a total of 10 songs, 7 of which are brand new tracks while 3 previously written songs will round out the release. LP includes digital download. (2011/REAPER)
-----------------------------------------------------------
TRIAC - Always meant to hurt you 7'' 4.90 EUR
GRINDCORE. Baltimore's TRIAC blast through 4 tracks of furious Noise-Rock infused Grindcore. Not for the weak hearted, this record is the perfect soundtrack for total panic and disarray. This is audio terrorism at it's finest. Recorded at Developing Nations by the great Kevin Bernseten. (2011/A389)
-----------------------------------------------------------
VANNA INGET - Allvar LP 11.90 EUR
PUNK. 10 songs of catchy Punk with intensive Swedish lyrics and female lead vocals with lots of melody and a good northern dash of melancholy. Weeping and reeling WIPERS guitars meet kinda AVENGERS styled vocals and the spirit of Swedish Fem-Punk bands TANT STRUL and PINK CHAMPAGNE. Fans of fellow Swedish Punk bands like TERRIBLE FEELINGS, KNUGEN FALLER, BOMBETTES & MASSHYSTERI will love them! (2011/P. TRASH)
-----------------------------------------------------------
WORRIERS - Past lives 7'' 4.50 EUR
POST-PUNK. Featuring members of NIGHT BIRDS and the MEASURE [SA], WORRIERS tread the lighter side of the Punk path, with Pop hooks and sing-along choruses. Fans of both NIGHT BIRD’ raw Garage Punk/Hardcore and the MEASURE [SA]’s speedier, gruffer Punk will find even more melody to latch onto, but without as much immediate punch. Instead, we get a slow burn that sounds inspired by Folk-Punkers the WEAKERTHANS (fittingly, one song is called “Deconstruction Site”) with sweet female vocals by Lauren Denitzio that swoon in their off-key awkwardness, much in the same vein as JOHN K. SAMSON. The nonchalant opening riff of “Promise Me (You'll Never Say That In Front Of My Friends)” is particularly charming. Another great thing about super-short EPs is they keep us interested for a potential full-length or, even better, subsequent EPs. It’s good to hear WORRIERS are sticking with it—and will hopefully deliver more stellar Pop-Punk songs soon. (2011/NO IDEA)
-----------------------------------------------------------
YOUNG OFFENDERS - Razorcake sister series 7'' 4.50 EUR
POST-PUNK. At first glance, the YOUNG OFFENDERS can easily be mistaken for a pack of reckless sods who seem hell-bent on nothing more than beer and a close shave. But on further inspection, you can find them to be a vital cornucopia of endearing personalities and regional accents who have harvested their favorite aspects of Post-Punk, Power Pop, and early Hardcore to create a sound that is unmistakably their own. This records features 3 originals and a HEX DISPENSERS cover. (2011/RAZORCAKE)
-----------------------------------------------------------
ZEBRASSIERES - Black Brainwave 10'' 11.90 EUR
PUNK. New Wave Pop Punk from Ottawa! Jordy, drummer in ZEBRASSIERES, also drums in CRUSADES and THE CREEPS Recorded by Yogi Perogi, the same guy who records the WHITE WIRES and the STEVE ADAMYK BAND!!! Dave Williams, (SEDATIVES, STEVE ADAMYK BAND, CRUSADES,...) did the mastering job! Think STEVE ADAMYK BAND meets THE EPOXIES, DEVO or THE SPITS on a poppy wave trip. Mike Haddad from MOTHER'S CHILDREN and YEAR ZERO did the design. So you know where the band comes from and that it's a quality product! (P. TRASH)
-----------------------------------------------------------
ZODZIEJE ROWEROW - Emo'la DoLP+DVD 20.90 EUR
HARDCORE. Limited vinyl reissue of the album originally released as a CD and Cassette in 1999. It is the best selling release on Refuse Records so far, but it's also one of the most important releases of the '90s Hardcore Punk scene in Poland. ZODZIEJE ROWEROW were known for their original song structures, well-written lyrics, and became as important for the HC Punk crowd in Poland. On this LP, intelligent socially and politically aware lyrics are filled with lots of empathy and personal perspective. Songs like "Skazani na sny" ("Sentenced to Dreams"), "Jak" ("How"), "Panta rhei" as well as all the other songs on the album, prove that for the band, Hardcore equals Punk. Additionally, the emotions carried by the music are authentic and match the intensity and expressiveness of traditional Hardcore Punk. The song "Ka_dy inny wszyscy równi" ("All Different All Equal") has become the anti-fascist anthem of this generation and was always one of the highlights of their shows. Vinyl reissue of "Emo'la" is coming out as a double LP in an attractive gatefold cover. It contains 16 songs, including a KTO UKRADL CIASTKA cover (they were a raging HC/Punk band from suburbs of Warsaw in the early 90s, their tape was Refuse Records release number 001) and also a bonus track, originally released on the "New Day Rising" comp CD on Boisleve Records in France. Remastered by Smok (Post Regiment, P.E.S.D.) in As One Studio. Limited one-time pressing of 530 copies. (2011/REFUSE)

HARDCORE. After seventeen years, ZODZIEJE ROWEROW from Zambrow, Poland are callingit quits, leaving behind 3 new songs as a farewell release. They were recorded in the "Hertz" studio in Biaystok (Vader, Behemoth etc.) and are without doubt, the best sounding songs recorded by the band. A massive and powerful sound compliments the emotional intensity of the music and lyrics. For many, the band was, and always will be, synonymous with awareness, authenticity, honesty, and to-the-bone Hardcore Punk. ZODZIEJE ROWEROW is recommended for anyone into the likes of VERBAL ASSAULT (and also ENPOINT or FOUR WALLS FALLING), mid to late '80s DC Hardcore, and '80s/'90s HC Punk out of Poland with a strong, unique Eastern European vibe. This is a one-time pressing, strictly limited to 565 copies. (2011/REFUSE)
