"Legendary NYC post-hardcore act Quicksand will be rereleasing a very special edition of their debut album, Slip via Shop Radio Cast and Dine Alone Records, September 11, 2012. Limited to 1500 pressings, with 500 exclusive to DA, the remastered version of Slip comes on 180g black vinyl, including a gatefold jacket full of never-before-seen photos, and a cover of The Smith's "How Soon Is Now." Pre-sale will begin next week.

Founded in 1990 by frontman Walter Schreifels, Quicksand rose to notoriety in the '90s, with many dubbing the band a key pioneer in New York City's post-hardcore scene. Along with a sophomore release, Slip launched the band on a series of North American and European tours in the '90s alongside the likes of Rage Against The Machine, Anthrax, and more. The band would eventually disband in 1999, but recently reunited for a one-night-only gig in June, 2012.

Some words from Dine Alone Records' president and owner, Joel Carriere: This full-circle, short-story starts on my birthday several years ago, while on route to Cleveland from St. Catharines to see Eagles of Death Metal. When I got to the venue, to my surprise, Walter Schreifels from one of my favourite bands of all time, Quicksand, was on stage with his new band.

This rare situation left me nervous and a loss for words. This was my opportunity to tell Walter about the label I was starting, and that I wanted to name it after one of his songs, Dine Alone. I kept walking up to him, stood near by, then walked away, afraid I would fumble over my words. Around the same time Alexisonfire and Moneen both had upcoming sold-out shows in Toronto. I wanted to use this occasion as an opportunity to fly Walter in and show him how his music had not only influenced me, but how it had influenced the bands I worked with. However, the anxiety of meeting him was crippling.

My buddy, Brent Jackson, from The Junction, took it upon himself to make sure I spoke to Walter that night. Brent introduced himself to Walter, and before it even registered, I was shaking hands with the man himself. On reflection, I think I spoke to Walter about a mile a minute. But the next thing you know, I am flying in Walter to see Alexisonfire and Moneen. Fortunately, it turned out he loved the fact that I wanted to call the label Dine Alone.

Fast-forward a few years where Dine Alone releases Walter's solo album, and now we are re-releasing Quicksand on vinyl. "Slip" has been remastered, and will be laid down on 180 gram vinyl. It will include never before seen photos and a Smiths' cover of "How Soon is Now".

So Dine Alone Records will be releasing the album that features the song Dine Alone... I just have to say 18 year old Joel thinks 35 year old Joel is living his dream. I love music and this is a special one for us."
